equipment failures, human error, etc. One crisis situation can
bring your SCADA system—and your utility operations—to a screeching

vulnerability risks, and provide a step-by-step system-specific
restoration guide in preparation for a worst-case scenario becoming
a reality. Topics include: SCADA DR basic elements, goals and
considerations; redundant systems and virtualized environments;
roles and responsibilities; plan testing, updates and continuous

Ransomware and Industrial Control Systems: What you really need
to know!
» Why does the Department of Homeland Security believe that
SCADA Systems are the next likely target for ransomware? Learn why
programmable logic controllers and SCADA systems are vulnerable and
what you can do to secure your system. Topics discussed are:
ransomware evolution and negative effects on systems, current
vulnerabilities of critical infrastructure systems, and how to
protect your industrial control systems. Witness a live
demonstration of ransomware targeting a SCADA system.
Cellular Solutions for Industrial Control Systems
» Well-engineered communication systems are a critical
requirement for reliable SCADA and process control systems.
Telemetry architectures should be designed specifically for the
water/wastewater systems that they are servicing. This workshop
will explore the use of cellular radio telemetry for water and
wastewater control systems. Our engineers will convey the pros and
cons of this technology and share valuable lessons we’ve learned

Battery Backup Systems
» Battery backup systems are designed to provide hours of
uninterrupted power through weather outages and other disturbances,
providing safety for drivers and law enforcement officials under
hazardous conditions. This session will explore the uses and
benefits of using battery backup systems for transportation and
water/wastewater applications. You will learn about off-line, line
interactive, and dual conversion topology; communication methods;
battery types; and environmental concerns to consider when choosing
an enclosure type.
