Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), is a rare disease that causes the bile ducts inside and outside of the liver to become scarred, narrowed, and eventually blocked. As more and more ducts are blocked, bile becomes trapped and damages the liver. This damage causes liver cell injury, which can ultimately lead to cirrhosis and require a liver transplant. The cause of PSC is not known, and there are no medical therapies proven to slow the progression of PSC. ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive at the 506 On the River Inn in Woodstock, VT in the mid-afternoon and meet your guides and fellow challengers. Enjoy refreshments while guides fit bikes for those renting. Set out on a short warm-up bike ride or walk through the beautiful Vermont landscapes. Return to the inn and enjoy a swim in the pool or a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Afterward, savor a delicious dinner at the inn and get excited for the next day’s cycling or walking challenge!

Day 2: After breakfast at the inn, Walk or Pedal for PSC begins! Join fellow PSCers, their supporters and altruistic adventurers on a remarkable journey, experiencing the beauty of central Vermont and testing your personal fortitude. Discover stunning long-range views, pastoral dairy farms, fields of flowers, tranquil ponds, sparkling rivers and cool forests. Along the way, you may spot deer, turkeys, hawks, fox and possibly…moose! You will also encounter a number of hills, as one would expect in the Green Mountain State. Just remember why we are riding or walking and that will keep you going, as well as the food and drinks along the way! Tonight, over a delicious dinner together, we’ll celebrate the hard work that allowed us to finish the challenge and to get closer to a cure for PSC!

Day 3: Enjoy breakfast at the inn, and take an optional bike ride or walk to explore more of the area. Or spend the morning in Woodstock visiting the sites of your choice. You may choose to visit Billings Farm and Museum, a working dairy farm with a farmhouse and museum depicting rural farm life in the 19th century. You might visit the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. The Rockefeller mansion contains an impressive collection of art amassed by Marsh and Billings, including one of the largest collections of Hudson River School Art. You may also want to peruse the shops in town - you’ll find clothing boutiques, shops with hand-made Vermont products, country stores and fine art galleries. If you wish, simply spend time taking it easy at the inn. This relaxing morning will be the perfect reward for your hard work in the fight against PSC!
