Welcome to Saint Kenneth’s Logos program!

One of the factors that make Saint Kenneth’s Logos program unique and successful is that we

are blessed with families who are willing to volunteer their time and talent. You will find

volunteer opportunities on the registration form. An explanation of each opportunity is in this

packet.

Each volunteer is asked to support our safe environment by attending a “Protecting God’s

Children” workshop. We ask that you attend a workshop so that we can create a community

of informed adults who model appropriate behavior, are vigilant to the warning signs of abuse

and take action to prevent abuse and improve safety. If you have already taken “Protecting

God’s Children”, please inform us where and when it was taken. The workshop only needs to

be attended once.

Volunteers at Saint Kenneth are also asked to have a criminal background check. Simply fill

out the authorization form and return to Saint Kenneth in a sealed envelope prior to the first

Logos session.

Thank you for choosing Saint Kenneth for your place of worship and your student’s religious

education. We are looking forward to a year of faith, fun and fellowship at Logos.

Blessings,

Joanna Vaghy

What is LOGOS?

The LOGOS program is a means of providing an in-depth and well- rounded Christian

nurturing experience for the youth of our parish community. LOGOS is a disciplined and

structured program of faith formation that emphasizes relationship with God and each other.

This is achieved by utilizing a four part system; catechesis, worship skills/prayer,

activity/playtime and table ministry (meal sharing).

LOGOS is offered bi-weekly on Thursday evenings from September through March.

Sessions meet from 5:45-8:00pm. Parent involvement is essential and required for the

program to flourish.

Arrival

Sessions are held from 5:45-8:00 PM

Programming begins with dinner in the Social Hall unless notified.

Students may be dropped off in front of the Parish Hall 10-15 minutes prior to sessions. Dismissal

All students are dismissed at 8:00pm

Early dismissal requires prior written notice. Students will be escorted to the Parish Office and released only to parent or parent-designated adult.

FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY, CARS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PARK OR STAND IN THE

DRIVEWAY – THIS IS A FIRE LANE – Please move to the parking lot and come into the

building to get your student. We will NOT dismiss students without a parent or

parent-designated adult.

Bad Weather Cancellation

Sessions are cancelled when Plymouth-Canton Schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Discipline Policy

Everyone will treat everyone as a child of God.

No one will treat anyone else as if they do not matter.

Therefore:

Students and adults will be on time for all sessions, prepared to participate fully.

Respectful language, attitudes, and behaviors will be practiced by all.

Disruptive and/or destructive behaviors have no place in the LOGOS program. This includes the use of bad language, alcohol, tobacco, illegal substances, *cell phones or other electronic devices.

Lapses in good judgment will be handled on an individual basis; first by catechists and then by the program coordinator. Students will be given every opportunity to choose acceptable and appropriate behaviors. Parents will be notified as necessary.

*devices that are confiscated during Logos can be picked up by a parent at dismissal.
