ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES

ART 1 (PK – SK) – in English Little kids find art interesting through a playful and fun process. What makes their creativity shine through? It is the vibrant colors, cool textures and patterns, imaginative sculptures, interesting shapes, and whimsical paintings. Children will explore hands-on art and crafts using traditional, fun and exciting materials. They will focus on the creative process using their imagination and creativity. This course is all about taking one step closer to art, being together with their classmates, and loving art!

ART 2 (Grade 1 – Grade 3) – in English

A truly unique course that allows students the opportunity to work with exciting mediums including wood, fabric, clay, paint, and many more. Students will discover different art techniques, play with a variety of materials, and create interesting compositions. During this course, students will also gain an in depth knowledge of color theory to enhance their 2D and 3D creations. This course offers children the freedom to explore their own artistic skills at a young age.

ART 3 (Grade 4 - grade 5) - in English The visual arts club is a place where children can develop their artistic skills by opening their imaginations. Different techniques and activities will be explored: paper maché, painting on wood, drawing (pastels, charcoal, etc…), and collage.

CARTOONING (Grade 2 – Grade 5) – in English All NEW and Amazing projects for fall 2018. This popular and fun-filled course explores the imaginative and exciting art of cartooning! We also work on creating exciting concept art for video games! Young cartoonists will explore their own fantastic characters and more! Great for prior and new students!

MUSICAL THEATRE CLUB (Gr. 4 - gr. 7) - in English Come and act out your dreams of being a star as we perform a 60 minute version of Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s: Mary Poppins Jr. A performance will be held at the end of the school year for the elementary classes and for the parents.

THEATRE CLUB (Gr. 6 - gr. 9) - in French

Come discover the magic of the stage! Learn the game and the drama techniques. To give life to characters, to dissect a text, and to create worlds in improvisations. Guided by professional actors, you will create your own show!

VARIOUS ACTIVITIES

ORIGAMI (Grade 1 - Grade 5) - in French Know how to fold a piece of paper into an airplane? Pretty easy, right? Now, what about folding the same piece of paper into an elephant, or even a motorcycle? This becomes much trickier... And your kid will love to discover it! Origami and kirigami are the arts of paper folding and paper cutting, respectively, using geometric concepts. They aim to develop artistic taste and creativity in children, and improve their capacity to listen and to concentrate. They are also very good tools for enhancing logical thinking, spatial visualization and spatial reasoning. Children will naturally keep their creations!

CHESS & Co. (Grade 3 - Grade 5) - in French

Chess is the most famous strategic head to head board game. But we would like to invite your child to test some other games from a large collection of original head to head board games, which all help develop a genius mindset, such as Go, Linja, Abalone, Quarto, les Cités Perdues, Kahuna, Lyngk, Haru Ichiban, and even more. For sure, this after-school program will improve their strategy development skill and their logical thinking.

LATERAL THINKING (Grade 1 - Grade 5) - in French If you were asked to make a hole in a letter format sheet of paper so that your entire body could pass through that hole, of course without tearing the paper apart, how would you proceed? That’s an example of lateral thinking! Your children will work together and develop their lateral thinking skills thanks to the numerous puzzles, riddles and brain teasers full of fun they will face! They will have to listen statements and clues very carefully, make use of their imagination and figure out different ways of analyzing a problem, in order to deduce the solution. Our large collection of puzzles, which are gradual and adapted to the level of each child, encompasses manual, visual, mathematical, based on words, and always tricky challenges.

CODING 1 (Grades 3 – Grade 5) Hatch Club – students will learn the basics of coding in a fun and engaging way. They will select Hatch projects that appeal to them and learn to create their own versions by creating and placing shapes, applying colours, placing objects on the screen, etc.

CODING 2 (Grades 6 – Grade 8) Hatch Club – in addition to the basics, students will start to learn the foundation of code including conditionals, loops, arrays, objects and variables.

SPORTING ACTIVITIES

BALL HOCKEY (Grade 3 – Grade 5) – in English Play based learning. Strong focus on skill development and general knowledge needed to participate in floor hockey. (Stick handling, Passing, shooting…) Floor hockey gives our students a chance to develop skills while having fun. This club also provides extra practice towards the involvement of students in a ball hockey tournament each year.

SOCCER 1 (SK - Grade 2) – in English

Strong focus on skill development and general knowledge needed to participate in soccer (Dribbling, shooting, passing…) Students take part in various lead up skills and games to improve ability in the sport. Most sessions end with gameplay where students can use skills learned and test them out against friends in a friendly and safe environment.

SOCCER 2 (Grade 3 – Grade 5) – in English Play based learning. Strong focus on skill development, with improved understanding of gameplay and rules. This club also gives our students extra practice towards the involvement in a soccer tournament each year. Soccer is offered year round with outdoor gameplay at Fairbanks Park and indoor in the gym.

BALLET (PK – Grade 1) – in English This course introduces students to the wonderful world of ballet! Students will explore the dynamic relationship between music and dance/ballet. Great for creative expression and music appreciation! Short class showcase for parents in the final class. (Kids should wear ballet slippers and ballet costumes)

HIP HOP (Grade 1 – Grade 5) – in English This class teaches the fundamentals of hip hop movement. They are upbeat and high energy classes. Stretching, isolation, rhythms, musicality, upper body strength and funky footwork will all be incorporated. Students will learn to memorize choreography by working on a combination each class. It is a great way to get kids moving! Parents will have a chance to see the final dance during a recital.
