An exciting opportunity to refresh your skills in manual hematology while learning new techniques to bring your complete urinalysis to the next level. This session will be a nice compliment to the automated results you receive from your in-house hematology and urine sediment analyzers or manual urine sediment wet mount. The wet lab will focus on creating blood smears and urine dry preps providing you with not just the how, but the when and why as well. We will utilize real blood and urine samples to practice technique and review best practices for how to determine when a manual cytological slide is of greatest use.

TIPS FOR TAKING DISTAL LIMB RADIOGRAPHS IN THE HORSEDr. Elizabeth Santschi, DVM

Veterinary technicians onlyLimited to 10 participants.Fee = $100.

The development of practical and aff ordable digital radiography had allowed practitioners to take high-quality images and send them quickly and without shipping costs anywhere in the world for additional opinions. The quality of the images refl ects on the veterinarian, and aff ects the quality of additional opinions. We will provide some practical tips for taking radiographs of the distal limb and let participants work out, in real time, how to improve the quality of their images.

ABOUT DANA MESKE

Eighteen years ago, Dana Meske

put her roots down at Parkway

Small Animal & Exotic Hospital as

a kennel assistant. Now, as the

practice group’s CAO (Chief Ad-

ministrative Officer), she finds daily

fulfillment in playing a part in the development of

the practice groups team. Dana decided to pursue

a yoga teaching certification a er she felt a strong

correlation between the benefits of practicing yoga

and relieving the stress associated with the many

flavors of emotion that encompass the day-to-day

environment of veterinary medicine. Being able to

build this yoga platform for her team and to share

it with others is a dream come true.

Other Wellness Ideas for You

■ Post something you’re thankful for on the Gratitude

Board outside the Veterinary Practice Marketplace.

■ Take a few moments to color on our big coloring

boards.

■ Take a walk outside and get some

fresh air.

■ Take some cleansing deep

breaths to relax and clear your

mind.

■ Meet someone new and compliment them on

something.

employment interviews: Similar to past years, employ-

ers can conduct individual interviews with senior DVM

and LVT students, as well as associates and technicians

in practice.

job fair: In response to employer requests to interact

with more candidates, we are adding the Job Fair as a

pilot program. Diff erent from Employment Interviews,

the Job Fair features individual employer tables in the

Capital Ballroom of the Radison. Instead of set interview

times, students will approach employer tables with their

résumé, ready to learn about the practice, and discuss

available opportunities. This open forum format provides

employers with the opportunity to meet and screen more

candidates.

EMPLOYER REGISTRATIONEmployer registration for the Employment Interviews or

the MVC Job Fair will be done through the Career Expo

Portal. Due to space limitations, employers may sign up for either Employment Interviews OR the Job Fair: We do not have enough space to accommodate

all employers for both. If your goal is to interact with as

many students as possible, or if you did not fi ll your inter-

view slots in previous years, consider participating in the

Job Fair. If traditional 1:1 interviews have worked best for

your practice in the past, consider the Employment Inter-

views option.

employment interviews: Go to wapp.cvm.msu.edu/MVCinterviews to register. The deadline is December 10.

All participants will be prompted to create a new profi le.

Instructions will be emailed to you once you sign up for

login access. Then you can create your new profi le.

Once logged into the online portal, select the dates

and times you are available to conduct interviews. Once

you select your dates and times, MSU·CVM DVM and LVT

senior class students, as well as associates and techni-

cians in practice, may sign up for open interview slots.

This process will begin on December 11. Once interview-

ees begin registration, practitioners can view and print a

list of their interview schedules by logging into the online

portal. On the day of the interview, we will assist you in

fi nding your interviewee. Student registration will close

January 22, 2018.

job fair: Table space for the Job Fair is limited to 40 ta-

bles, so registration is on a fi rst-come, fi rst-served basis.

Once the Job Fair is full, your option will be to conduct

Individual Interviews. Use this link to sign up by December

registration fee: If you did not register for MVC, you

can still conduct interviews. Upon interview registration,

you will be prompted to pay a fee via credit card: $25 for

MVMA members and $50 for non-members. The system

does require that you provide your MVMA membership

number. For those of you who did register for MVC, your

interview fee is waived.

interview space: We have a limited number of rooms to

conduct individual interviews. We have done our best to

use the space available to create a comfortable environ-

ment for you to conduct interviews. However, a private

interview space is not guaranteed. The need may arise

for several interviews to be conducted in a single larger

space. We ask for your cooperation in recognizing these

space limitations.

INTERVIEWEE REGISTRATIONemployment interviews: The registration portal will be

available starting December 11. Go to wapp.cvm.msu.edu/MVCinterviews to register. First-time participants

will be prompted to create a profi le. If you’re a student

from the college, please use your MSU credentials to

login. If not, please create a new profi le. Once your profi le

is complete, you will be able to view and select which em-

ployers you would like to interview with. Registration will

close January 22, 2018.

Job Fair: Interviewees do not need to register for the

Job Fair. Please bring copies of your résumé and check-

in prior to entering the fair. You will be provided a map

indicating practitioners’ locations.

Visit our website https://goo.gl/rZwvHg for additional

details and contact information.
