Presidents’ Report

Hello, my friends, on Saturday April 13th we celebrated the arrival of spring with our Spring Dance.

A sold-out crowd were in attendance to thank Toni Stagat for serving as Miss Hubertushaus for 2018

and then we all welcomed the Miss for 2019. Maddy Banderob is excited to fill this role for the

coming year and she brought with her a large group of family and friends including her parents Gary

and Deb and grandparents Helmut and Christa Banderob. You will recognize Maddy as she has

volunteered for many years during Oktoberfest in the cake booth and souvenir stand. I would like to

acknowledge Past Miss Hubertushaus’ that were in attendance as well as Past Miss Transylvania Club

– Amanda Mooser and Past Miss Concordia – Kathryn Malcolm who helped ease Toni’s pain as she

relinquished her crown. I was very pleased to see the many children in the crowd as well; I am sure

there were a few future club Misses and members.

On April 6th I attended the OFAH Zone J Annual Meeting along with 5 other club members. Please

see the report in this bulletin and if you have any questions please ask one of the attendees. In the

upcoming June bulletin, I plan to include a detailed report from the OFAH Annual Conference. The

highlight of this three-day conference was CWD – Chronic Wasting Disease. This is a very scary

situation that we all need to know of. I will also present some of the information at the June Monthly

Membership Meeting on Wednesday June 5th.

As I write this edition of the bulletin, we are preparing to install 3 wood duck nesting boxes along

our creek system. With any luck we will have occupants in these in the next year. These boxes were

donated by the OFAH and built by youth at the OFAH Youth Campout in 2017.

Since our Annual General Meeting in March we have completed 2 of the projects that were

approved on the budget. The a/c equipment for the upper walk in cooler has been replaced by Nelco

Mechanical under the direction and guidance of Harry Vogt and the parking lot lights at the back end

have been updated to LED by Mendler Electric.

I look forward to the members support at Work Day on Saturday May 4th and Fish Fry on Sunday

May 5th. Please support your club on these 2 days.

Your President;

Dave Mendler

Entertainment Director’s Report

We had beautiful spring weather on Saturday April 13 to celebrate our Spring Dance. It

was truly an all ages event with 98 adults and 13 children in attendance. Our members along

with their family and friends enjoyed a wonderful schnitzel dinner prepared by Nithridge Estates

and danced the night away with music provided by DJ Rob Esposito.

We wish to thank all the volunteers

who came out on Friday April 12 to help setup

tables and decorate the hall. Also, thank-you

to Janet & Herb Kunsch for their donation of

the roses for attending past misses and our

newly crowned Miss Hubertushaus, Maddy

Banderob.

Please join us May 4 for our spring

cleaning work day. A light lunch will be

provided for our volunteers. Clean-up is

followed by our annual Fish Fry on May 5th.

More information can be found in the ad

contained in this bulletin.

Grounds and Facilities’ Directors Report

Hello fellow members.

I hope you have all had a good winter and now that the snow is gone as I write this report, we

must think of the warmer weather to come and all the fun and events which will happen here at

the club. We have already seen change in events upcoming with the change of hands of the Hall

Manager.

There will be more spring and early summer events. The first event after work day is the Fish

Fry and we want to have the grounds looking good for this event and then the Johnny Cash

Tribute on the Saturday of Mother’s Day Weekend put on by our hall managers team. It goes

without saying that all events are important to our club and we must strive to keep it looking

clean to show guests who we are.

As you may have heard in recent weather reviews climate change is something we will have

to deal with. One way climate change affects the club is the high winds and ice storms which

are happening at an increased frequency. We see this with all the branches blown down onto

the grounds by the combination of this.

Having said that we will be having our annual spring work day on Saturday May 4th and I look

forward to the comradery of all our members to come out and pitch in and have a good time.

On the list of things to do that day is yard and garden clean up. We will clean the main hall

and the patio which include wiping down the woodwork cleaning and inspecting chairs and

cleaning lamps. There are many small items too numerous to mention which will be

accomplished I am sure.

Please support your club and

remember many hands make light

work. Bitte unterstützen Sie Ihren

Verein und denken Sie daran, viele

Hände machen der Arbeit. Please

bring your rake and a smile.

All the hard work you put forward

will be rewarded by a lunch and

refreshments when we are finished.

Jägermeister is not a schnapps -

technically. In North America we joke that

we drink Jägermeister for medicinal

purposes. But in Germany that is exactly

what it is for. Believe it or not, Jägermeister

is actually good for you - when consumed

in moderation. It was originally marketed

as a stomach digestive and cough

suppressant. And interestingly, it is brewed

more like a tea than a liquor distillation.
