Since its official kickoff in 2013—when Dr. John Noseworthy announced the Destination Medical Center initiative at the state Capitol—DMC has gotten plenty of big-picture coverage.
We hear about the big money: $3.5 billion in Mayo investments, $2.1 billion in private investments, $585 million in infrastructure to bring it all together.
The big time frame: 20 years.
The big changes: Like the big hole where the big (19-story, $124 million) Hilton hotel project is underway on South Broadway downtown.
Looking forward, though, we want to know about the little things—those specifics and how they’ll affect, well, us.
So we asked numerous area experts for those specific predictions (What is this costing me? Can we become the “Silicon Valley of Medicine”? Will there really be a train tunnel over First Street SE?).
Answers: .25 percent in sales taxes. yes. Probably.
