Hamblen County Car Club Minutes June 19, 2019

The Hamblen County Car Club was called to order Tuesday, June 19, 2019 at the Golden Corral by President, Gene

Honeycutt. Fifty-three (53) members attended. Gene told members that Ray Campbell has passed away and gave updates

on those who are sick and are unable to attend. Dwayne Cole offered the opening prayer.

Mr. Honeycutt welcomed the new members. He said there are currently more than 150 members.

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved with a correction. John Zieba was not the person who nominated Gene

Honeycutt for president. The motion to approve the May meeting minutes was made by Don McGinnis and seconded by

Tony Hayes. The treasurer’s report was given by Janice Hawkins and subsequently approved after a motion from Billy

Seals and a second from David Sawyer.

President’s Remarks: Gene Honeycutt said Evie Valentine still needs recipes for the cookbook. He asked if everyone

had received and submitted a ballot. Gene told members that Chantal Combs would tally the ballots and announce the

winners.

Vice President’s Remarks: Guy Leolich told members that when the weather is good, the cruise-ins are great! Folks are

coming from other counties, and we continue to see vehicles that have not been here before.

Upcoming events include the BBQ/Bluegrass festival at Cherokee Park on Aug 17 from 11:00am-9:00pm. Several car

clubs are working together for this show which will benefit the Daily Bread. There will be a show in New Market offering

$100 to the club with the most participants. Check the web site for details and other events.

Events Coordinator: Jean Malott reminded members of the picnic at Cherokee Park on Friday and the next Drive and

Dine to the Green Tomato Restaurant. Winning tickets holders were Bev Kelly, Chantal Combs, and Paul Oliver.

Trailer Ads: Ted Kalagian reported 7 empty spots on the trailer, but some spots (possibly three) were spoken for during

the meeting.

New Business: Chantal reported that fifty-nine (59) ballots were counted. Results were: Treasurer: Janice Hawkins

Secretary: Judy Hopkins Vice President: Jean Mallott (write-in votes) President: Guy Leolich

Other Business: Chantal makes pictures of all our events. Her camera has expired……Don McGinnis made a motion,

seconded by Lisa Grooms, for the club to pay for a new camera.

Guy Leolich invited members to a July 4th celebration at his and Betty’s house. There will be food, music, fireworks, and

swimming. Just let them know if you are planning to attend.

Meeting adjourned after a motion by Wayne Musick, and a second by Jean Mallott.

Respectfully submitted by Judy Hopkins.

Presidents Newsletter Input June

We have once again had our elections and I have been elected as the new

president of the club. I would like to thank Gene Honeycutt for all of his efforts in

working for the good of the club. I also want to thank him for all of his guidance

and input. I have enjoyed working alongside him and hope to continue to improve

the club.

The elections were held and I, Guy Leolich, was elected as the new president.

The new Vice president is now Jean Malott. The treasurer remains as Janice

Hawkins and the Secretary also remained as Judy Hopkins.

Our cruise-ins are doing quite well and we have been having a good turnout

when the weather has cooperated with us. During the past month it seems that

we have been getting rained on far too many times. But that is the way of

Tennessee weather. It changes constantly. We are still looking for volunteers to

work the trailer. If hauling the trailer is an issue, talk to the people at the trailer

and arrangements can be made. Keep in mind that you get to meet all kinds of

friendly folks when working the trailer. It is an excellent way to get to meet the

participants of the cruise-in.

We have a couple of car shows that are coming up this next month and hope

to see a lot of you members there. On August 10th, we will be participating in the

JTEC Show at Panther Creek Park and also on August 17th The Bluegrass BBQ

Festival and Car Show will be going on at Cherokee park. Lot of good times to be

had at each event. More information about these events can be found at the car

club website https://hamblenccc.com/events

There are still quite a few club members that have been dealing with illness

and injury. Elmer Blanken is continuing to make improvements and each week he

is getting a bit better. We also lost a club member earlier this month, sadly Paul

Oliver passed away early and he will be sorely missed.

I would also urge member to come to the club meeting this July 16th at

Golden Corral. There are a lot of issues being discussed as well as some club by-

laws additions are to be voted on.

Well, that is probably enough rambling on. I hope to see you at the club

events, and everyone be safe, have fun and thank the Lord for all our blessings.

Guy
