Large blooms in shades of pink, apricot and yellow are deeply cupped, overall, giving the impression of rich

apricot as opposed to the paler, soft yellow undersides. When fully open the center of the flower is well filled
with petals, their closeness giving the impression of a rich, apricot - pink. Around the center, the loose ring of
petals curl in slightly and so show their pale apricot yellow undersides. It will quickly make a lovely, bushy,
rounded shrub with quite straight stems, the many flowers nodding just slightly. There is a strong and beautiful
myrrh fragrance. ‘Carding Mill’ is an excellent, vigorous, medium-sized shrub. Carding Mill is an extremely

Beautiful, deep crimson rosettes with a delightful fruity fragrance. An exceptional variety which flowers freely
and repeats well. Very healthy. Compact, bushy growth. Good red roses are never easy to breed, so we are
particularly pleased to introduce ‘Darcey Bussell’, as we believe it is one of the best and most healthy red roses
we have bred to date. Its beautiful flowers are produced freely and with excellent continuity. When young, their
outer petals form a perfect ring around an inner cup; gradually opening out to form a perfect rosette. The color
is a deep rich crimson that takes on a tinge of mauve just before the petals drop. It has a pleasing, fruity
fragrance with hints of green. Darcey Bussell is the highly acclaimed ballerina. She was appointed principal at

exceptionally long season, maintain their shape during wet weather. A lovely Old Rose and almond blossom
fragrance with hints of cucumber and lemon zest. ‘Desdemona’ forms a very healthy and most attractive neat,

Golden Celebration®
Ausgold
English Rose/Shrub Rose
An award-winning rose with magnificent, cupped, golden yellow blooms. This is one of the largest-flowered of
all our English Roses, excelling in all climates. The rich golden yellow flowers are in the form of giant, full-
petalled cups. These are initially tea-scented but often develop a wonderful combination of Sauternes wine and
strawberry. The flowers are held beautifully poised, slightly nodding on long arching branches. The ample
foliage is large, glossy and light green, resisting disease well. ‘Golden Celebration’ is a very reliable variety,
which is easy to grow. It has excellent shapely growth, forming a nicely rounded, slightly arching shrub. In
warmer climates it can also be trained as a short climber. Named for its glorious color. Its name makes it the
perfect rose for commemorating Golden Weddings, 50th Anniversaries or any other celebration or important
event. An award-winning variety: in every way an excellent garden plant. Bred by David Austin.

The Lady Gardener™
Ausbrass
English Rose/Shrub Rose
This is a particularly interesting rose in that it is the first in the English Old Rose group which has apricot
flowers. These are large, about 4" across, and of a beautiful shade of rich pure apricot that pales towards the
outside of the bloom. They are of a rosette shape and very full petalled with a large button eye that gradually
opens up; the petals loosely arranged in a quartered formation. There is a particularly lovely and strong tea
fragrance which has hints of cedar wood and vanilla. Altogether an excellent garden shrub that will repeat
flower quickly, stand up well to rain and stay very healthy. Its height very much depends on how it is pruned.
Named to raise awareness for Plant Heritage and their important work to protect Britain’s garden plant
diversity. The National Collection of English Roses in the David Austin Rose Gardens are maintained in

Lady of Shalott™
Ausnyson
English Rose/Shrub Rose
One of the hardiest and most reliable of the David Austin roses. Good for disease resistance and poor soil and
will bloom with unusual continuity throughout the season. The young buds are a rich orange-red that open to
form chalice-shaped striking apricot-yellow blooms filled with loosely arranged petals. Each petal has a salmon
pink upper side, which contrasts beautifully with the attractive golden yellow reverse. The flowers have a
pleasant, warm Tea fragrance, with hints of spiced apple and cloves. The flowers create a spectacular show of
color and are beautifully displayed against the mid-green leaves, which have attractive, slightly bronzed tones
when young. Position this rose toward the middle or back of the border. It would also make a great choice for
landscaping large areas. Named for the Tennyson Society. The name is taken from one of Alfred, Lord
Tennyson’s poems to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his birth. The poem tells the story of The Lady of
Shalott, who lived in a castle close to King Arthur’s Camelot and was held in a spell. Recipient of the RHS

Munstead Wood
Ausbernard
English Rose/Shrub Rose
A healthy variety with sumptuous, deep velvety crimson blooms. Light crimson buds gradually open to reveal
very deep velvety crimson blooms, with lighter colored outer petals. The flowers are large cups at first,
becoming shallowly cupped with time. As the flowers age, we get glimpses of the stigma and stamens amongst
the petals. There is a strong Old Rose scent which our fragrance expert, Robert Calkin, assesses as “warm and
fruity with blackberry, blueberry and damson notes”. The bushy, spreading growth forms a broad shrub with
good disease resistance. The young leaves are red-bronze, later turning mid-green, forming a nice contrast. A
relatively short shrub, it is ideal for planting towards the front of a border. Munstead Wood was the name of the
horticulturalist and garden designer Gertrude Jekyll’s home in Surrey, England. It was designed by the architect,
Sir Edwin Lutyens, whose professional partnership with Jekyll was one of the most influential of the Arts and
Crafts movement. Gertrude Jekyll wrote her many gardening books at Munstead Wood and it was her home for
most of her life. Munstead Wood has won several awards, including being voted ‘Flower of the Year 2009’ by
readers of the French magazine, Rustica; being presented with the gold medal for fragrance at the 2011 Japan
Rose Society trials and, also in 2011, winning Portland’s Best Rose Contest for Best Shrub Class in the USA.

informal group of petals within. There is a rich fragrance with strong lemon tints at first, becoming sweeter and
stronger with age. It forms a naturally arching shrub, with rather shiny Leander-type foliage. It is perfect for
incorporating into a traditional rose border or for blending with other plants in a mixed border. Bred and highly

Princess Alexandra of Kent
Ausmerchant
English Rose/Shrub Rose
Magnificent and unusually large flowers, deeply cupped of warm, glowing pink. There is an award-winning
fragrance of delicious fresh tea with aspects of lemon and blackcurrants. The ring of soft pink outer petals
enclosing the warm pink inner petals, creating a most pleasing effect. In spite of their size, the flowers are never
clumsy and are held nicely poised above the foliage. Very healthy. It forms a well-rounded shrub. Due to the
large size of the blooms, there is a lot to be said for planting in groups of three and pruning to form a single,
shapely shrub - this keeps both flowers and growth nicely balanced. Position this rose towards the front of the
border. We were honored to name this rose for Princess Alexandra, who is a cousin to Queen Elizabeth II. She
is a keen gardener and great lover of roses. Recipient of the Glasgow 29 Fragrance Award and California’s
Desert Rose Society Show’s Most Fragrant Award. Bred and highly recommended by David Austin.

buff pink at the center. The overall effect is excellent, producing a mass of flowers and continuing to bloom at
regular intervals throughout the summer. The individual blooms are in the form of medium-sized, loose-petalled
rosettes of typical Old Rose character. ‘Winchester Cathedral’ is a first class garden shrub with well-shaped,
