Registration Costs: MS/HS Sports: $130/course

Pass / Fail Audit of high school course for middle school students: $ 200/course

High School Credit: $200/each session

Take Note: There will be no credit remedial courses for middle school. Parents and students are encouraged to audit a high school credit course for Pass/Fail. This will suffice for middle school remedial. Middle school remedial students can only take the first semester (not second)

Credit Course Information: High School Credit Courses — NEW!

All courses can be taken for full credit OR audit. Please indicate on registration form the desired option.

Any students enrolled in EVIT classes for Fall 2019 may apply for free tuition for high school credit courses (EVIT form located on Summer School webpage at www.fhusd.org) Deadline is April 25th

Course changes can be made Prior to the first day of class.

Refunds for dropping a course will only be honored Prior to the first day of class.

NO REFUNDS will be issued once class has started.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing with a parent signature or in person by the deadline day.

NO REFUNDS will be issued for a course dropped due to excessive absences. MS/HS Sports (Non-Credit) Courses

Course changes can be made, up through the first day Tuesday, May 28,2019.

Refunds for dropping a course will only be honored by the end of May 24, 2019. Requests must be submitted in writing with a parent signature or in person.

Middle School Academic Audit of High School Courses

High School Academic Courses (Credit & Credit Recovery)

Monday-Thursday May 28th through June 28th

Each course meets for up to 2.0 hours per session Days and time are listed in the course descriptions.

MS/HS sports cost: $130/course

Monday-Friday May 28-June 12, 2018 Each course meets for 6 hours a day. See schedule for times. This will suffice for middle school remedial courses and give middle school students exposure to high

school courses.

Session one is recommended for middle school academic audit courses. Lunch ~ 11:00-11:30 ~ Brown Bag Cost: $200/Course

Attendance Policy (Credit Courses Only)

Due to compressed schedules, we DO NOT EXCUSE ABSENCES! Check course schedules prior to registering to ensure the student will not miss any classes

Up to 30 minutes late = 1/4 day absent Absent 1 day = on probation Absent 2 days = drop from course

A drop from the course will result in NO CREDIT and NO REFUND. Audit students will be dropped after two absences. NO REFUNDS.

GIRLS BASKETBALL-HS CLASS# 206

Build on basic fundamentals and knowledge. Drills on ball handling, shooting, passing, defensive stance, help defense, rotation of both man and zone defense, zone and man press, offensive sets, and press break offense. Scrimmages will occur daily to implement knowledge of the topics covered.

FALCON FOOTBALL HS CLASS# 102 Coed

This class will teach the basic fundamentals of football including catching, throwing, pass routes, defending, and blocking. The class will end in an ultimate football game each day. Boys and Girls BASKETBALL-MS CLASS# 106 Build on basic fundamentals and knowledge. Drills on ball handling, shooting, passing, defensive

stance, help defense, rotation of both man and zone defense, zone and man press, offensive sets, and press break offense. Scrimmages will occur daily to implement knowledge of the topics

covered.

High School—Cheer Class# 125 Interested in dance, cheer or pom? Come to the Spiritline clinic and experience dance, pom and cheer fundamentals. These fundamentals include: turns, kicks, leaps, choreography, chants, band dances, basic stunts, strength, flexibility and much more!

Fountain Hills Swim Program—New! Class # 130 Open to anyone in 5th to 12th grade interested in swimming for Fountain Hills or an athlete who wants cross training in the hot summer! If your interested in strokes and endurance in the water, this is the class for you. Coached by the FHHS swim team coach, this class will prepare you for the fall season. If your not a FHHS swimmer that’s okay- this class will help improve your swimming. Space is limited. There is an additional

$40 membership fee payable by the first class unless a Peaks Fitness member. A waiver must be signed prior to attendance.

This class is for beginning and intermediate volleyball players, boys and girls. This class will focus on the basics of bumping, setting, serving, spiking and game strategies. Players will get to work on

skills individually and in small groups and in small matches.

U.S. GOVERNMENT

This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and structure of the federal government. Content will include the philosophy of democratic government, political parties, civil liberties, and the electoral system. This course includes the study of Arizona’s governmental system.

ECONOMICS/FREE ENTERPRISE

This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of economics and the free enterprise system. Content will include the study of the American economic system and its impact on the decisions made by individuals and families.

2nd Session (0.5 credit) Class# CRE 612 Grades: 11th-12th

U.S. HISTORY

This course is designed to cover the major people, events, and trends that shaped the history of the United States. The first semester covers the period from the first settlers to World War I. The second semester covers the period from the Roaring 20’s to the present.

WORLD HISTORY/GEOGRAPHY

This course is offered in two sessions. The first semester will begin with the study of prehistoric man then delve into ancient civilizations, major world religions, and the evolution of European nations with primary emphasis on European history. The second session covers the period from industrialization to our present day. Biology

A practical life sciences course which explores the living world through traditional lecture, lab, nature collection, guided reading, science writing and analysis of data, group work time, and several projects, which they will attend each day for 5 weeks. Students will learn about macromolecules, cells, Arizona wildlife, essential genetics, classification, botany and zoology.

Chemistry

This course will introduce students to the study of organic and inorganic chemicals, their properties, and reactions. The course will include the application of basic mathematical skills and concepts as they relate to chemistry.

Physics

This course introduces students to the physical world through focusing on basic physics concepts including motion, forces, waves, and electricity. It will develop skills necessary in subsequent science classes.

ALGEBRA 1

Course is designed to introduce students to abstract thinking and problem solving. First session includes evaluating algebraic expressions, solving one & two variable equations, solving systems of linear equations, absolute value equations, and exploring statistical data. Second session includes exponential laws, scientific notation, graphing, evaluating & solving quadratic functions, using direct & inverse variation, evaluating algebraic fractions, evaluating polynomial expressions, and determining odds & probability.

GEOMETRY

Course is designed to develop logical thinking skills. Content includes classifying and identifying properties of quadrilaterals & triangles; transforming geometric shapes by reflection; drawing lines of symmetry; determining slope; using Pythagorean theorem; solving right triangles and using trigonometric functions; solving coordinate geometry problems; using various area and volume formulas; identifying conic & cylindrical solids, classifying parts; & writing triangle congruence proofs.

Algebra II

Content includes graphing and solving various types of equations including linear, quadratic, cubic, square root, exponential and logarithmic and rational. We will also do trigonometry with right triangles, points and circles. This course can only be taken for credit recovery or to get a better grade. You can only take this course if you already took Algebra II or Algebra II concepts.

Daily homework is required for students taking Math!
