REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE Prepare for what’s beyond the classroom through clinical placements starting in your first year. Connect with one of our 500+ clinical placement and research partners, and work across public and private teaching hospitals and partner organisations in metropolitan and rural locations. You can also gain experience under the guidance of practising clinicians in one of our student-led community health clinics focusing on areas such as exercise physiology, physiotherapy, podiatry and midwifery. Our new Health and Medical Clinic at City West campus also offers placement opportunities and the chance to collaborate with other allied health students and professionals to develop care management plans.

ADELAIDE CROWS FOOTBALL CLUB UniSA has partnered with the Adelaide Crows Football Club to provide student placement opportunities, research collaborations and pre-university study access to the men’s and women’s rookie squads. The centrepiece of the partnership is the formation of the Adelaide Crows-UniSA Institute for the Business of Sport, which will bring together specialist education in data science, business, marketing, sport science, social and digital media, journalism, visual effects, nutrition and psychology.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

NATIONAL POLICE CERTIFICATE AND DEPARTMENT FOR COMMUNITIES AND SOCIAL INCLUSION CHILD-RELATED CLEARANCE All students in the Division of Health Sciences who, as part of their program, undertake activities where interaction with patients/the public is required, such as in field or clinical placements/visits and in University clinics and gyms, must demonstrate that they have a current National Police Certificate (NPC) through SAPOL (or their home state police service) and a current Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Child-Related Clearance, which is valid for the duration of the program. The National Police Check will list disclosable court outcomes that may prevent clinical placement involvement.

STUDENT REGISTRATION All students enrolled in a program leading to professional registration must be registered with the relevant national board. The registration process is undertaken by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with the University providing notification to AHPRA following a student’s enrolment. No fees apply.

IMMUNISATION REQUIREMENTS In order to progress to clinical placement you must be screened and provide evidence of your immunisation status. Immunisation is a mandatory requirement across all healthcare placement providers. Non-compliance with the Health Care Workers Immunisation Policy will prevent you from progressing to a placement.

Daniel was keen to study human movement with a strong interest in fitness, strength training and injury rehabilitation.

“Early in my degree, Ideveloped an interest in how to improve physical performance, particularlywith athletes, and decided to focus my studies in the area of sports andexercise science.

“I gained invaluableexperience working in a high performance sportenvironment. It was great to work with people who I had admired from afar for some time.”

After graduating, Daniel was awarded a UniSA and Port Adelaide FootballClub PhD scholarship and now works with eliteathletes and experienced coaches to uncover thescience behind sport.
