NEW IN 2019: WELFARE TEAM

Next year we will be expanding our welfare support to students with the implementation of our Welfare

Team. Mrs Edwards will coordinate a team of teachers who will support students throughout the school.

All going well, Mrs Watkins will be continuing next year in a new role which will be announced early next

year. Further details regarding our Welfare team will be announced in February. In the meantime, if you

have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Edwards.

WELCOME BACK

In 2019 we welcome back Mrs Deb Cunningham to coordinate Grade 3 and Ms Natasha Walsh who will be teaching Grade 1 next year.

FAREWELL TO STAFF

As every year approaches its end, we farewell a number of much loved staff who have added a great deal to our school over many years. This year we will farewell:

Leanne Goodall: Leanne will be retiring to enjoy more time with her family and friends.

Maddy Nelson: Maddy will be heading over to the ‘land of the long white cloud’ to explore that part of the world for a few years.

PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Mrs Amber Boag— Will be taking up an appointment at a school closer to home.

Mr Hugh Morton—We congratulate Hugh on his first teaching appointment at Mt Waverley Heights PS.

Mrs Julie Bartolomei—Has accepted a teaching aide position at Highvale Secondary College.

We wish all our departing staff all the very best as they embark on their new adventures.

UNIFORM

Many of you will need to consider ‘new’ uniforms for growing children before the start of the next school

year. Most of you would probably need to upgrade your child’s footwear before next year. I kindly

remind you that the shoes must be fully black in colour. Please also be mindful that on the first day back

in 2019, I have asked our teachers to check all our uniforms to ensure that all students are wearing it

correctly and we all start the year off on the right foot – so to speak! Students out of uniform will be

given a letter addressed to the parents outlining the reasons for an out of uniform notice.

We are very proud and respectful of our uniform here at Templeton; it is well known in the Knox and

outer east community and we ask that parents continue to support the high expectations we have of our

students in ensuring that it is worn correctly at all times.

SCHOOL CAPTAINS 2019

At assembly tomorrow afternoon at 12.45pm, we will announce our 2019 School Captains to the wider

school community. The children went through an extensive process to select the captains. I must say, I

was really impressed with the list of candidates who all would have made excellent captains in their own

right. Nearly half the Grade 5 year level applied for the role!

Life can be a roller coaster, we don’t always get what we want but it’s how we respond to the

disappointment, bounce back and work towards the next challenge that shows our character and

resilience. Well done Grade 5’s!

LATE RETURN TO SCHOOL IN 2019

If you will still be on holiday when school commences in 2019 would you please write a letter to this

effect and send it to the office for our records. Thank you.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: THANK YOU TO OUR SCHOOL COUNCIL

I would like to express my sincere thanks, on behalf of our community, to our School Council members

and whilst rewarding, can also be challenging. At Templeton, we are fortunate to have an outstanding

• approving the annual budget and monitoring expenditure

• acquiring feedback from the school community to inform decision making

•developing, reviewing and updating school policies

• overseeing the maintenance of the school’s grounds and facilities

• creating interest in our school in the wider community

• enhancing communication within our school community
