2019 WORLD WATER DAY: HAWAK KAMAY, TUBIG-KAAGAPAY Hotel Kimberly Manila and Kawit Cavite - March 26 and 31, 2019

In celebration of the 2019 World Water Day with the theme entitled “Hawak Kamay, Tubig-

Kaagapay,” EMB CALABARZON conducted a seminar regarding Republic Act 9275 or the Philip-

pine Clean Water Act of 2004 which was discussed by Engr. Wilfredo U. Billones on March 26,

2019 at Hotel Kimberly Manila. The purpose of the said seminar was to equip EMB CALABARZON

personnel with adequate knowledge to effectively implement R.A. 9275.

As part of the celebration of World Water Day, EMB CALABARZON personnel also joined the

extensive simultaneous clean-up activity of Manila Bay tributaries which was dubbed as the

“Battle for Rivers and Esteros,” on March 31, 2019 at Barangay Samala Marquez, Kawit, Cavite.

Together with EMB CALABARZON personnel were several volunteers from different groups name-

ly: AFP Reserve Command, Sardido Industries, Micara, 404th Solarwinds Transport Battalion, 4P's,

TAU Gamma Fraternity, Barangay Officials and residents of the community. The clean-up activity

covered around 1.2 kilometers of the Imus River and more or less 910 kilograms of wastes materi-

als were collected and hauled by the Local Government Unit of Kawit, Cavite.
