He is Risen, Alleluia! He is truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia! He is Risen, Alleluia! He is truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia! He is Risen, Alleluia! He is truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia! He is Risen, Alleluia! He is truly Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia! We have had the privilege of celebrating the greatest week of the annual Catholic Christian calendar with the blessing and consecration of the Holy Oils used from this Feast forward for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders. We commemorated the night on which the Holy Eucharist was instituted by Jesus with his Apos-tles, as well as the mandate he entrusted to us to serve oth-ers, and to “do this in remembrance of me.” We accompa-nied Jesus as he endured his final passion, the full handing-over of his life to the Father for us, and the hurried burial. Once again we are given the opportunity to let the mys-tery of Christ’s resurrection reach across time and touch our hearts and our lives. We know it has nothing to do with new clothes, as nice as they look. We know that it has nothing to do with the choc-olate bunnies, the peeps, or the jellybeans. These things reflect “Easter” but not necessarily The Resurrection of the Lord. Christ’s rising from the dead, like his passion and his death, were for US, to turn our own desolations into hope. In the longer Gospel, called the “Emmaus Gospel,” in which Jesus accompanies two disciples who leave Jerusa-lem on that first Easter for the town of Emmaus, distraught at what happened to Jesus (his passion, death, and burial), they come to learn that the ancient scriptures had predicted all that had just transpired. The resurrected Jesus, unrecog-nized, was their teacher. He not only journeyed with them to Emmaus, where he revealed himself to them in the breaking of the bread, but he also accompanied them from their desolation over the past events to hope. He helped them to turn their focus from their own sorrow over their loss to recognize that the promise Jesus made was fulfilled, and that they would be on the front lines of telling others that they have met Jesus, and what he means to them. On behalf of the entire parish staff, a Blessed Easter to you all. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN: Witness to Hope We have received the first Parish-share payment from your donations-to-date: over $35,000! That means that pledge-payments have already exceeded the $100,000 mark. Many payments were made last De-cember for the last calendar/tax year, other payments were the “default, January of 2017.” The monies are in an inter-est bearing account with the Diocese until we begin work on the restoration of the devotional areas in Church. Smaller quarterly returns are expected throughout this year, likely until the next batch of “annual” payments in early 2018. Thank you for your faithful support of all our efforts.
