SCIENCE: GRADING SYSTEM
Approximate grading policies for Science 2020-2021–10% Warm-Ups / Exit Tickets / Short form work.
–65% Classwork / Projects / etc.
–25% Quizzes and tests
Please note. 75% of the grade is based on classwork.
This means if your student has a low or failing grade that there is work that has been not turned in or is incomplete.
FINDING GRADES IN SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND ELA
● Have your child open up the google classroom you want to look at.● From the main screen of your student’s google classroom click on
“Classwork” ● On the next screen you see click on “View your work”
FINDING GRADES IN SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, AND ELA The number at the right is the projected overall grade.
THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL FINAL GRADEIT IS AN ESTIMATE / APPROXIMATION
In this example the student has a 31 which is an F
Looking at the classwork shown will give you an idea where the problem is.
In this example the student has four assignments so far.
The top one is marked as missing - that means it has not been turned in but it is also not part of the grade yet.
The 2nd assignment has a 0/10. That work could be resubmitted to the teacher and regraded. The 3rd assignment was turned in but got a low grade. It could also be resubmitted and regraded. The 4th assignment is all set with a full credit grade of 2/2
RESUBMITTING A GRADE OR TURNING IN LATE WORK(This applies to ELA, Social Studies and Science)
When looking at an assignment your student has a number of options for dealing with a grade that they would like to improve.
If they click the RESUBMIT button, this lets the teacher know they have updated the work and would like it re-graded.
They can privately communicate with the teacher to explain some aspect of the assignment or ask about why they got a grade.
Be careful to make comments in the PRIVATE COMMENT box and not the CLASS COMMENT box so everyone in the class does not see it.
In this example, the student resubmitted the workand the grade was updated to 100 to reflect that.
