Report of Flood Situation and Situation of Flood Relief Camps

SANJH is a Word of local language which means partnership of people. SANJH is a non-religious and non-government Volunteer organization. SANJH is working in the area of nature, Justice, health and disaster relief and rehabilitation.

Assessment of Flood Affected people

First of all we visited Khaima Basti settled on self- help bases. There were 113 families. About 750 people including female and children more than 165 children were below 8 years of age. People there were from the areas of basti Gujrri, panjay wala, nai wala, thokar Taliri, talab wala, and basti tala . They all were the resident of union council Bhutta pur. They told that we were not informed about that flood before. Management asked to break Doaba band. We were saved in this case, but due to that delay flood suddenly broke in our area and our 80 percent union council is affected more than 70 percent houses are fully are partially damaged about 50 percent demolished. They told that our crops are100 percent

damaged crops of rice; cotton and sugar cane were ready. They told that we can’t bring with us our precious things due to sudden flood. They further told that we rescued ourselves on self-help bases and now we are facing a lot of problems. Still no tent has been provided to us. We and our cattle are living under the open sky in this scorching heat. There is no provision of food and drinking water and water for household use. They requested to provide them the following things on emergency bases.Tent 100 Food 840 Drinking water 840Milk for children 240Mosquito net 240Washroom 20Medicine 840Fodder for the animals. 360 They told that we are not able to go back in our houses for two months. We shall be supported otherwise our children shall die of hunger we are helpless After that we went in flood relief camp of kunal sharif 70 families were living in 70 camps provided by the government. Still more than 100 families were sitting open they were provided no tents they told that 10 to 12 people are living in each camp. People living there were the resident of Mouza Paka sandilakunal sandilataraf walabasti ryan, jalil wala, sandila, sadique wala and basti shorian of union council Rangpur currently named Jarh wala. They told that our union council is 100 percent damaged our more than 70 percent houses are demolished all crops are being washed away and animals are also affected by the flood. They told that some of these families were brought there by rescue 1122 team while few came on self-help bases. They told that we are provided food two times daily few days ago that was enough but now due to the increase in families’ food is not enough. They told that the quality of the food is good. They told that we are still facing a lot of problems we need drinking water, milk, washrooms, medicine, Wanda and gross for the animals and shelter for animals. During assessment a disable family both husband and wife with 3 children started weeping that they are facing lot of problems regarding food shelter and milk for their children they told that we are not able to go anywhere to get food and milk for our children. In the end we visited another flood relief camp of head Muhammad Wala. There were 103 camps with more than 650 people about 420 female and children with 10 widows 2 separated women and 12 disables and old aged. There were the people of different villages basti chorha , karlo wala sadique wala, and taraf wala from the union council Rangpur and Moradabad. They were very angry and dishearten. They told that we are given food but it is of no use for us and for our children. They told that the previous night they were given food after 12 at night. While the last night it was brought at 4: 00 am. They told that we refused to take that food and sent them by saying that our families and children have slept without eating food. We will take food only if provided in time. They told that though there is one medical dispensary but

medicine is not available. They told that we should be given food in time also given water, milk, washrooms, mosquito nets and fodder for animals.A Brief glimpse of affected union councils in district Muzaffargarh is given below
