The Beginning A Note From Andy Keller

In early 2004, I took a trip to the local land�ll after spending

the day landscaping my backyard. I was horri�ed by how

many single-use bags �lled the scene. Plastic bags blanketed

the landscape in a thin mix of white and beige plastic.

On my way home, I continued to notice plastic bags

everywhere; caught in trees and on fence posts, half drowned

in gutter puddles and blowing in the streets like urban

tumbleweeds. I vowed to stop using single-use bags for good.

Inspired, I dropped a few bucks on a secondhand sewing

machine and began sewing what would ultimately become

the �rst ChicoBag® brand reusable bag.

We understand that there is always more we can do to help

kick the single-use disposable habit. That’s why we have

instituted a number of programs designed to make our

business cleaner and our planet healthier. Our zero-waste

programs showcase the importance of recycling, repurposing,

and alternative transportation. Through these programs, we

have signi�cantly reduced our impact and inspired others to

do the same.

At ChicoBag® and To-Go Ware® our mission is to help humanity bag

the single-use habit. In other words, the wasteful, throw-away habit

that over�ows our land�lls and clogs our oceans. We advocate for

waste reduction; we design and sell the highest quality reusable

products.

We partner with organizations, businesses, and schools who share

our mission by co-branding quality reusable alternatives to

single-use waste. Our products empower people to take an active

role in solving the single-use problem. At ChicoBag, we make

rePETe™ is a trademarked term we use to identify products made from recycled materials. All ChicoBag rePETe products contain fabric certi�ed by Repreve® to be made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. In addition to the fabric, many rePETe products have other recycled components like carabiners, cording, and cord locks.

A materials statement that lists each component used in production is printed on the inside of the bag, back of the pouch, or both. ChicoBag believes in transparency, and our rePETe products alignwith this core value.

OUR TESTING PROCESS

ChicoBag is a leader in upholding rigorous product testing standards to keep you and your family safe. Every production run is tested for lead contamination and other heavy metals through third-party testing facilities. We adhere to testing standards more stringent than those set forth by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). In addition to the CPSIA standards, we also adhere to the more stringent standards for children’s toys set forth in ASTM F963-07.

Regulations vary by state, so ChicoBag products are also tested quarterly to comply with the Toxics in Packaging Legislation currently adopted by nineteen states. This means we not only test our bags for Lead, but also for Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, and Mercury.
