  • Agility Nationals WA 2020

On 26-31 May 2020, Perth will host the Agility Nationals.

This is a five day event that will attract competitors from around Australia.

This is a opportunity to reach a key market of dog owners, healthy Australians and sports enthusiasts.

Dog agility is a fast growing international sport that’s fun and exciting. Dogs navigate their way through a variety of obstacles led by their handlers’ directions. The art of it is in the person communicating to the dog what it is he or she needs to do. Success depends on the handler communicating effectively with their dog to accurately negotiate obstacles in the fastest possible time.

More than 500 competitors are expected from around Australia along with many more spectators. Already the facebook site has attracted 700+ followers who are interested in competing.

    2

  • Who you’ll reachAgility competitors consist of a diverse range of ages, backgrounds and occupations. The youngest in training are around 6 years. They compete in the trial ring from the age of 8 all the way through to 86.

Across the country there are hundreds in each state who compete. They are low to high income earners who work in all kinds of casual, part time and full time employment. There are also a number of retired and semi-retired competitors.

They come from education, construction, mining, health and administration. They’re professionals, tradespeople and retirees. From small and big businesses, self employment, Government and the private sector, they’re a diverse range of people. They’re families, single parents and young people such as University students, just starting out.

There’s a huge range of fitness levels amongst competitors and also a variety of differently abled people who compete – some are athletes who also compete in marathons and other athletic events and some are recovering from injuries, returning to exercise. There are numbers in every state who compete with a disability.

The majority are typically young to middle aged Australians who are trying to improve their health and maximise their ability to quickly and nimbly move around the course.

They all have one thing in common – a love of spending time outdoors with their canine companions.
