Charlotte McArdle, Chief Nursing officer (CNO) for Northern Ireland isresponsible forprofessional leadership,performanceanddevelopmentof theprofessionsinNorthernIreland,includingAlliedHealthProfessionals.InherroleCharlotte ensures that standards of practice are developed in pursuit of highquality care and experience that is supported by high quality professionaltraininganddevelopment.Charlotte is department’s policy lead for patient experience, real time userfeedback,co-productionandnutrition.

Charlotte has undergone a FlorenceNightingale Leadership Development Scholarship focusing onembeddingacultureofSafety,QualityandExperience.ThisincludesthedevelopmentofKPI’sforallserviceteams. Shehasastrongcommitmenttopersoncentredpracticeandevidencing improvedoutcomesforpeoplewhousehealthandsocialcareservices,particularlyregardingsafety,qualityandexperience.CharlottecompletedtheInternationalCouncilforNursesGlobalNursePolicyLeadershipProgramme in Geneva 2017. CatherinetrainedintheUKasaRegisteredNurse,MidwifeandHealthVisitorand has worked in senior leadership positions widely across the NationalHealthServiceinEngland,aswellasextensivelyoverseas.Shehasworkedontheset-upofmanynationaland international initiatives, includingthefirstNHSWalk-inCentres, the firstHealthPromotingHospital initiative, testingnew models of Primary Care, implementing the Chlamydia ScreeningProgrammeandthefirstNHSImprovementCollaboratives.

WorkingwithLordNigelCrisp,BaronessMaryWatkinsandaglobalboardofrenownedinternationalexperts,beginningmid2017Catherineset-upandthenlaunchedthe3-yearglobalcampaignNursingNow,aimedatstrengtheningNursingacrosstheworldwww.nursingnow.org.As part of the role of Acting ExecutiveDirector, Catherine travelled extensively around theworldhelpingcountriesandorganisationstosetupnationalandlocalNursingNowinitiatives–inparticularfocussingonleadershipdevelopment,increasingthecapabilityandleadershipskillsofyoungnursesandmidwives aswell as setting out the framework for the global 2020Nightingale Challenge. InJanuary 2019 Catherinewas invited to launchNursing Now Pakistan, alongwith the President ofPakistan and theDirector General of theWorld HealthOrganisation and has since continued hersupporttoPakistanaswellastravellingtomanyothercountriesincludingthePhilippines,ThailandandMyanmar.CatherineisProgrammeDirectorforthe2020NightingaleChallengeGlobalLeadershipDevelopmentProgramme inNorthern Ireland,and isalsoworking togetherwith leadnurses fromNorthern Ireland, a global Expert AdvisoryGroups and Professor SirMichaelMarmot on a report‘NursesandMidwivesforHealthEquity’commissionedbytheWorldInnovationSummitforHealthfor2020theInternationalYearoftheNurseandtheMidwife.

Catherine has a wealth of experience in designing and delivering whole-systems public healthleadershipandimprovementprogrammesandworkinggloballywiththeWorldHealthOrganizationdesigninganddelivering ‘Health inAllPolicies’ trainingaroundtheworld.She isaqualifiedcoach,renownforhereimpactfulandinspiringpresentationstyle.DrBobBrown,ExecutiveDirectorofNursing/DirectorofPrimaryCare&OlderPeople’sServices–WesternHealthandSocialCareTrustDrBobBrownhasbeenExecutiveDirectorofNursing/PrimaryCareandOlderPeople’sintheWesternHealthandSocialCareTrustsinceSeptember2017.PriortothishewasExecutiveDirectorofNursing,QualityandTransformationatSouthTynesideandCityHospitals SunderlandNHSFoundationTrustsandhasundertakena similar role inTorbayandSouthernDevonhavingmovedfromSouthEasternTrust,wherehewasAssistantDirectorofNursingandPrimaryCarebetween2007and2013.BobisaHealthFoundationLeadershipFellowandFlorenceNightingaleScholarandhismainareasofinterestarearoundservicetransformation,qualityimprovementandclinicalleadershipdevelopment.Heisdelightedtobebackworkingathomeandverymuchlookingforwardtobeingpartofthenursingandmidwiferycontributiontotheregional‘DeliveringTogether’implementationplan.BillyRosa,PhD,APRN,FCCM,FAANP,FAANisanRWJFFutureofNursingScholarandPhDCandidate,UniversityofPennsylvaniaSchoolofNursing,Philadelphia,PA.

Billy received his BSN magna cum laude from NYU Rory Meyers College ofNursing(2009)andwasvaledictorianofhisMSNclass,HunterCollege(2014).HespentoneyearwiththeHumanResourcesforHealthPrograminRwanda,East Africa (2015-2016), contributing to the curriculum content for the firstMasters-preparednursingcohortinthecountry.Heistheeditorofthreebookson leadership, globalhealth, and theory-guidedpracticeandhas contributedmorethan130publicationsinahostofdiverseforums.

Billyhasbeenrecognizedwithnumerousdistinctions, includingthe internationalSpiritofRenewalAward from Sigma and the national LillianWald Service Award from the American Public HealthAssociationNursingSection.HeservesontheeditorialboardfortheJournalofHospice&PalliativeNursingandasaboardmember formultiple globalorganizations.He is a Fellowof theAmericanAcademyofNursing,theAmericanAssociationofNursePractitioners,theAmericanCollegeofCriticalCareMedicine,andtheNewYorkAcademyofMedicine.ProfessorMicheleUpvallPhD,RN,CNE,FAAN

Dr.Upvall’sresearchisinglobalhealth.Sherecentlyco-editedthebook“GlobalHealth Nursing: Building and Sustaining Partnerships.” She has also creatednursing education programs tomake an impact nationally and internationally,includingthefirstBSNprogramonAmericanIndianlandsandfirstMSNprograminPakistan.Currently,sheisfacilitatingthedevelopmentofaRNtoBSNprogramin Lebanon and is investigatingways to improve global health educationwithuniversities in Vietnam and Uganda. Her current research is studying the

perspectivesofpartnershipamongnursingleadersandpartnersfromlowresourcecountries.Otherresearchareasofinterestincluderisinglevelsofobesityandnon-communicablediseasesworldwide.She is currently a co-investigator on a study evaluating the implementation of evidence-basedpractice,andisalsoexploringtheuseofavatarsandvirtualscenariosforpreparingnurseeducatorsfortheclassroom.
