Why? What are the barriers to oral wellness in Oklahoma and how can we overcome them? These quesons and more will be explored at the 2020 Oklahoma Oral Health Awareness Forum. This statewide event brings together dental, medical and public health professionals, oral health safety net organizaons, policymakers, funders and other individuals invested in the health of Oklahomans. The Forum will feature: A presentaon of the Oklahoma Oral Health Report Card with expert explanaons of each key indicator Recognion of the essenal role of the oral health safety net and the organizaons comprising it Facilitated discussion groups examining oral health challenges faced by various populaons and exploring potenal soluons Exhibitors represenng Oklahoma’s oral health safety net organizaons and other oral health programs Time for networking Forum Schedule 8:00-9:00am Exhibitor set up 9:00-9:30am Registraon; Recepon in exhibit hall 9:30-11:00am Morning Session: Oklahoma Oral Health Report Card 11:30am-12:45pm Lunch Session: Oklahoma Oral Health Safety Net 1:15-2:15pm Breakout Sessions: Oral Health Discussion Groups 2:15-3:15pm Closing Session 3:15-4:00pm Networking; Exhibitor take down; Museum tour opon In between sessions, networking breaks are held in the exhibit hall. Aſter closing session aendees receive a pass to tour the Oklahoma History Center museum, free of charge, unl it closes at 5:00pm. Forum is offered free of charge to aendees, but pre-registraon is required and seang is limited so register now! When compared to the nation’s performance on 13 key oral health indicators, Oklahoma scores a D.

Why? What are the barriers to oral wellness in Oklahoma and how can we overcome them?

2020 OKLAHOMA ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS FORUM

Leon Bragg, DDS, MEdDr. Bragg served as the Chief Dental Officer for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, which administers the state’s Medicaid program, from 2004-2017 and is currently a Dental Consultant for OHCA. Dr. Bragg also served as president of the National Medicaid Medicare Association for several years.

Tim Fagan, DDS, MSDr. Fagan is a clinical professor and the division head of the Pediatric Dentistry division at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He is a media spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and past president of the Oklahoma Dental Association. He has practiced dentistry in Enid, Oklahoma, since 1984.

Kay S. Beavers, DDSDr. Beavers has been a Professor with the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry for the past 20 years, teaching both dental hygiene and dental students. She also served as a Lt. Commander in the USPHS Indian Health Service for several years. She completed a Masters in Legal Studies Health Care Law at OU College of Law in December 2019.

Jana S. Winfree, DDS, MPHDr. Winfree is the Oklahoma State Dental Director, a position held since 2008. She provides subject matter expertise and leadership for the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Program efforts include community water fluoridation, dental education, dental loan repayment, Mission of Mercy clinics, and oral heath surveillance.

Oral Health Report Card Presenters

Marsha Beatty, BS, MPHMarsha is Assistant Professor of Research in the Community Dentistry division at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Marsha serves as chair of the Oklahoma Oral Health Coalition and Oklahoma’s representative for the nationwide Oral Health Prevention and Equity Network (OPEN).

Laurie Cunningham, RDH, MEdLaurie has been a professor in the Dental Hygiene division at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry for 15 years. She has been a co-director with Dr. Kay Beavers in the Geriatric Dentistry course for 14 years. Laurie holds a degree in dental hygiene and a Master’s degree in Education.

Lisa Pendarvis, MPH, PMPLisa is the Director of Programs at Oklahoma Primary Care Association. Her department provides ongoing training and technical assistance to Oklahoma’s 21 federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). In addition to her Master’s in public health, Lisa is a certified project management professional and a patient-centered medical home certified content expert.

Terrisa Singleton, MHHSA, BSBATerrisa has managed Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation since 2009. As Foundation Director, she works extensively with oral health safety net dental clinics and programs throughout the state and oversees the Foundation’s own programs and initiatives. Terrisa holds a Master’s in Human and Health Services Administration from OU.
