HOW TO REGISTERRegistration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is encouraged and registration is finalized once fees are paid in full. Program registrations are now accepted by the following methods:

1. Visit us in person, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., in the City of Salem Public Works Department. We are located at 555 Liberty Street SE, third floor, Room 325. We are open during the lunch hour.

2. Register online at: egov.cityofsalem.net/ParksRec

FEE WAIVERSThe City of Salem provides programs taught by City Recreation Leaders as well as partnership programs taught by contracted instructors. Programs led by Recreation Leaders offer fee waivers to qualified City of Salem residents. To receive a fee waiver, the parent/guardian must live within Salem city limits and provide proof of one of the following:

1. Oregon Trail Card2. Oregon Health Plan3. WIC Card4. Letter of free/reduced lunch program

CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDSThe City of Salem reserves the right to cancel programs when minimum enrollment is not met. Full refunds are issued when programs are canceled. Refunds requested before the first day of programs will be reimbursed at half the registration fee. Refunds requested after the first day of programs will not be granted. Refunds can be requested by calling 503-588-6261.

Tennis CampsBe a part of the Net Generation! Our tennis camps utilize age appropriate courts and tennis balls to increase the level of success for your player. Each level works on tennis strokes, player coordination, and match play. Wear non-marking shoes, bring a bottle of water and tennis racquet if you have it. Qualified Salem residents are eligible for a 50-percent fee waiver.

Red is ideal for beginning tennis players, utilizing a 36-foot court with a 23-inch racquet.

Orange is suitable for both beginning and intermediate level players looking to practice skills on a mid-size 60-foot court with a racquet no longer than 25-inches.

Green Dot fit for older beginning and intermediate players wanting to experience playing on a full-size 78-foot court with a racquet no longer than 29-inches.

Yellow is designed for intermediate and above level players with previous tennis experience comfortable on a 78-foot court with standard tennis balls.

Fish, Forage, Fire!Learn the art of being a true outdoorsman! Our primary activity will be fishing and the instructor will fill out each day with lessons in foraging from the natural world. Advanced Wilderness SurvivalThis camp goes in depth into critical survival skills and cool scenarios that are both challenging and fun. Participants work on their own and in teams to problem solve, master the basics of shelter, knife safety, traps, rope and knots, along with plant uses, animal tracking, primitive skills navigation and more! Play survival themed games, ending the week with an exciting final scenario.

Girls’ Earth SkillsBuild. Cool. Stuff. This camp is all about tool use, creativity, and engineering. Participants will work on a new building project each day, generally themed for camping and outdoors. Past projects have included assembling a bushcraft knife, wood baton, natural fiber cordage, hand carved wood spoon and/or bowl, paracord survival bracelets or belts, feathersticks, leather medicine pouches, bamboo walking sticks, a gourd drinking bottle, a rocket stove, and more.

GolfFive 1-hour classes of professional, FUNdamental instruction on the golf swing, chipping, pitching, putting, sand play, rules and etiquette! Range balls and one complimentary green fee are included, along with Chip’s Tips booklet, a certificate of achieve-ment upon completion of all 5 classes, along with a USGA Rules of Golf booklet.
