Hello parents, carers and friends of Sandy Beach Public School, Kindergarten 2021 Enrolments We are taking Kindergarten enrolments now. Our Kindergarten transition events will have a different look due to Covid 19 and the restrictions we must follow for visitors on our school site. Unfortunately, our Kindergarten transition day scheduled for Tuesday 15 September has been cancelled. However, staff from the school will visit pre-schools and we are planning on having small group tours for 2021 Kindergarten families. Due to this alternative organisation, it is vital that we have enrolment information for our new kinder students as soon as possible. Book Fair and Parade The theme for Children's Book Week 2020: 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds'. Each year across Australia, Book Week brings children and books together to celebrate our love of reading. On Wednesday 26 August we will be having our Book Parade where students are encouraged to come dressed up as a book character or in a costume that reflects this years theme. Our book fair will also be held on this day with an online payment option in addition to cash. Students have received this flyer today. Students will bring home a wish list after viewing the books prior to this day. We will be posting more information about book titles and items for sale in the days leading up to the Book Fair to help you choose books with your child. It is disappointing that we cannot have community members on site as this is one of our favourite events of the year. We will be sure to share lots a great photos on our Facebook page. Primary Athletics Carnival Last Friday we held our Athletics Carnival. The winning house is BLUEGUM. Congratulations to the following age champions for 2020. Junior Boy Christian Cheney Junior Girl Jesse Desmond and Kyah Rea 11 Years Boy Diesel Cheney 11 Years Girl Skyler Simpson Senior Boy Will Bennett Senior Girl Ella Dudgeon See detailed results on page 3. Pick up zones in the Afternoon As a school we are always trying to streamline the congestion of the 3:10 pick up time. We appreciate the efforts of parents cooperating with us for the safety of our students. Pick up zone in Saye Close We will be supplying name cards which we request families to place on your car visor for the teacher on duty to identify your car quickly. You could attach these using blu-tac or rubber bands. Carpark behind Stage 3 classrooms Collect your child from the red tape so they do not walk behind reversing cars. I am continuing to work with the Coffs Harbour City Council and the Department of Education Road Safety Officer to improve this area of concern for our community.
