THE EXPERIENCE YMCA School Age Care, Adventure Day Camp and Sports & Outdoor Camps allow children the opportunity to explore, build friendships, develop new skills and discover their creativity. ONLINE PLACEHOLDER REGISTRATIONSaturday, March 14th at 8:00 AM - Sunday, March 15th at 9:00 PMThe School Age Program has seen the benefit of families successfully signing up for Y programs online and wanted to provide families with this same convenience of receiving a registration Placeholder. Current School Age and Returning Summer 2019 participants will be able to register for a summer care Placeholder through the Y’s website or via phone indicating a request for Summer Care 2020. This will allow families to indicate their interest in signing up for summer care without having to stand in line for a number, and eliminate the need for a trip to the Y that day. Additional information outlining the new process will be emailed to current and returning families regularly leading up to March 14th.

You are responsible for submitting a completed registration packet (available on-line or at either Y), for each child by Friday March 20th. Once registration packets are submitted at either Y branch, you will receive a confirmation email from [email protected] within 2 business days. Summer care registrations will be processed in the order that Placeholders were received beginning Monday, March 23rd.

NEW FAMILY REGISTRATIONWHEN: Tuesday, April 7th at 6:00 am HOW: Online or by calling 608-519-9909Similar to the current and returning school age registration process outlined above, new families wanting summer school age care and day camp will register for a placeholder on April 7th. A completed registration packet for each child should be submitted at either Y branch by Friday, April 10th; you will receive a confirmation email from [email protected] within 2 business days, that your packet was received. Summer care registrations for new families will be processed in the order that placeholders were received beginning Monday April 13th.

PLANNING AHEADThe chart above is meant to give a general idea of what is offered at each site location. However, there are some exceptions:

• Field trips and swim lessons will NOT take place on the first two days of summer programming.

• On Week 3, all field trip days will be Thursday, June 18 to the Loggers Stadium.

• On Week 10, all field trip days will be Friday, August 7th at Stoddard Park.

• Any swim lessons affected by new field trip days will be rescheduled.

• Extenuating circumstances may create a need to reschedule or cancel swim/field trips. Registered families will be notified as time permits.

MEALS In partnership with local school districts, the La Crosse Area Family YMCA seeks to ensure all children in our Summer School Age programs are provided nutritious meals each day.

• All students will have access to breakfast and an afternoon snack through the YMCA and/or local school district.

• Students at locations not offering free lunch should bring a sack lunch each day (see page 4).

Outdoor activities happen 2-3 times per day weather permitting. Children are divided and grouped by age and interest to best meet the needs of all.

HOW DO SWIM LESSONS WORK?Each week, students will visit a YMCA branch for one of the two swim days. Students who opt in for swim lessons would spend 30 minutes in their lessons and then have the rest of the time to enjoy open swim. Since all lessons take place in conjunction with the normal swim day, there is no need for additional transportation.

EXPERIENCE, EXPLORE, AND DISCOVER! Adventure Day Camp provides an exciting and diverse outdoor experience that will engage children throughout the summer! Each day brings a new opportunity for campers to discover the world around them through outdoor adventures. Caring and encouraging YMCA role models will lead campers through a variety of weekly activities. With new friends and challenges around every corner, Adventure Day Camp is the perfect way to keep children active outside with the environment and learning throughout the summer.

VARIETY AND ADVENTUREAdventure Day Camp is intentionally designed to provide campers with the opportunity to participate in a diverse set of activities each week.

Canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, fishing, teambuilding, group games and outdoor education are the mainstay activities that campers can look forward to every week! Utilizing local resources in and around the greater La Crosse area, our professional role models facilitate trips to local parks, state parks and other community partners.

PICK UP LOCATION AND MEAL INFODay Camp offers two pick up locations to accommodate families from all communities we serve.

NORTHERN LOCATION: Houser YMCA, Miracle Field PavilionThe Y will provide daily breakfast and afternoon snack. Campers are responsible for bringing a sack lunch.

SOUTHERN LOCATION: Longfellow Middle SchoolIn partnership with the School District of La Crosse and the Y, campers will receive a free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack daily.

In order to give students a safe and enriching environment throughout the day, the YMCA is offering both morning and afternoon care to wrap around the summer school day. In partnership with the school district, students will have access to a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Care is conveniently located right on site at Northern Hills.

Example Schedule 3:• My child will be attending only a half-day of summer school, but still needs wrap-around care in the morning AND the

afternoon. Example: a student is in summer school from 8:00-11:00 am but a parent needs care from 7:00am until 5:00 pm.

• Parents can register for the regular full-day YMCA programming at either Eagle Bluff or Irving Pertzsch.• Parents are responsible for coordinating transportation with the school district in order to get students to and from

summer school at Northern Hills and the full-day YMCA program location.• Summer school families will not receive a discounted price for regular full-day care at Eagle Bluff or Irving Pertzsch.

Any child receiving county or state assistance will have their deposit incorporated into their weekly charge. Any cancellations must be made by Monday, two weeks prior to the cancelled week and must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. Any family not meeting the criteria for cancellation will be required to pay for the full cost of care for the week.
