There is no fee for first-time testing. (Re-test fees are $15 per assessment.) Required scores are: • Graphic Literacy - score of 4 or higher (on a scale of <3 to 6) • Applied Math - score of 4 or higher (on a scale of <3 to 7) – Find practice tests with an account on Ohiomeansjobs.com (Click –Online Training Icon)

AFTER COMPLETING ALL STEPS ABOVE COMPLETE REGISTRATION:

• Submit enrollment deposit of $100 (refundable until 14 calendar days prior to the start date of your program). The deposit is deducted from program fees. Students who receive full funding after paying deposit will receive a refund once all program fees are paid. – or submit proof of funding from an outside agency – or complete Student Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note • Complete Release of Information Form • Wait List – Once a program enrollment fills, students who have completed all enrollment requirements may be placed on a waiting list for future start dates. • Review catalog and sign Enrollment Agreement

Financial Aid

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATIONFinancial aid may be available for those who qualify. MACC assists students in locating potential sources of assistance and with application processes.

FEDERAL TITLE IV FINANICAL AID • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility. • Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and create a FSA User ID and Password (to sign your FAFSA and future documents). Students can also schedule an appointment with MACC for assistance.• Provide requested income verification if required by the U.S. Department of Education. n **Pell Grant - A federal grant available for approved programs 600 hours or longer. This grant does not need to be repaid unless a student withdraws from a program. *Note: Students who are in default on a federal student loan are not eligible for Title IV Aid (Pell, Stafford Loans) until the loan is in good standing. n **Stafford Student Loans - Student loans are available for approved programs 300 hours or longer. Students must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and entrance/exit counseling.

PAYMENT PLAN, SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTSn **Workforce Innovation Opportunity ACT (WIOA) - Each county’s Department of Job & Family Services has WIOA funds for training. It’s best to VISIT your local office in person to begin & start the process early as requirements for funding can take some time to complete. Ask if you can start intake requirements (resume, job search, workshops, etc.) even if there is no funding currently available. If your training has already begun ask to be considered for upcoming modules of your program.n Student Payment Plan - Career Development students may sign an interest-free payment contract. There is a one- time $25 fee to activate the payment contract. Payment must be made in full prior to program completion. Late fees are charged for delinquent payments. Payments more than 60 days delinquent will be forwarded to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for collection and the student will be dismissed and transcripts/credentials held.n Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) - A state grant available to employees (who have been approved for TRA) due to company closing. An application for training must be submitted for approval 1-2 months before training begins.n VA Veterans’ Training Benefits - Veterans may use VA benefits (Montgomery GI Bill, etc.), if approved, to attend programs at Madison Adult Career Center. n **Opportunitites For Ohioans With Disabilities (Formerly BVR) - If you have a documented disability and are pursuing eligible training, upon approval, funds may be available to assist you. Adult Diploma Program

Advanced Cosmetology l 1,80O Hours

1,800 clock hours/24 months I CIP Code: 12.0401 I SOC Code: 39-5012.00In addition to the 1500-hour Cosmetology program (page 5), students develop a salon business plan and learn advanced cutting/color skills. In addition, students earn additional certifications in advanced color line, tanning, piercing, relaxation massage, blood borne pathogens and become familiar with permits and codes, laws and rules.Become licensed upon passing the Ohio State Board’s Advanced and Cosmetology Exams. Ohio requires an Advanced Cosmetology license to become an instructor.Students who have completed 600 hours of the MACC Cosmetology program, and licensed Cosmetologists may enroll in Advanced Cosmetology.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

(Advanced Cosmetology includes the Cosmetology 1500-hour curriculum & courses found page 5).Salon/Spa Management - Topics covered include Ohio Revised Code Statutes; Ohio Administrative Rules, license and permit policies and procedures, continuing education, inspection and enforcement.Public Health And Safety - Students learn proper sanitation, sterilization and dispensary operation, practices and procedures. Topics include bacteriology, contagious and communicable disease control, salon procedures and consumer and product safety.

Advanced Hair/Skin Care Techniques - Learn and practice advanced skills including haircutting/styling, chemical services, salon supervision/management, and specialized equipment use, hair/scalp anatomy, product and service sales.Cosmetology Rules & Laws - Students learn regulations from the Ohio Revised Code pertaining to operating a salon. Field trips and classroom/lab experiences and guest speakers help prepare students considering opening their own salon.

ADULT DIPLOMA PROGRAMMadison Adult Career Center (MACC) is pleased to participate in The Ohio Department of Education’s Adult Diploma Program. The program is designed to help Ohio residents, at least 22 years of age, earn an Ohio adult high school diploma while simultaneously gaining training in an in-demand career field and industry credential(s). Adults who have a high-school diploma earn better wages; have greater job opportunities; and gain confidence to further their education! See page 20 for more details.

Cosmetology

1,500 clock hours/19 months I CIP Code: 12.0401 I SOC Code: 39-5012.00Develop your skills to use in an industry full of creativity and color! Once students develop skill competency in specific areas, (hair cut/style/color, relaxers, perms, facials, pedicures, manicures, waxing, etc.) students practice these skills on live models in our full-service salon. Complete a 150-hour internship under the supervision of a salon manager which provides valuable employer connections, references and sometimes offers of employment!Become a licensed Cosmetologist upon passing the Ohio State Board’s Cosmetology Exam. Students are also certified in CPR and First Aid. Clients are welcome Tuesday through Thursday by calling 419.589.6363 for an appointment.

Sanitation/Bacteriology/Rules and Laws - Learn andunderstand federal and state rules/laws pertaining toInfection Control and Salon Disinfection.Scalp Care/Anatomy - Understand the anatomy and functions of the scalp. Learn to recognize the difference between normal and what is considered abnormal and determine specific treatments and/or services.Hair Styling and Cutting - Learn to cut and style hair with a wide variety of various tools, techniques, and products.Hair Coloring - Gain an in-depth understanding of color theory, choosing the proper product, application, and color correction.

Chemical Hair Texture Services - Understand and perform hair services that cause a chemical change which will permanently alter the hair’s natural wave pattern. Learn to analyze and select appropriate treatments.Nail Care - Obtain an understanding of the structure and growth of the natural nail and perform basic and advanced nail services and apply enhancements.Skin Care - Learn the structure and growth of skin andto recognize the difference between normal and what is considered to be abnormal. Determine specific treatments and/or services.Salon Operation/Communication - Practice proper customer service, communication, hygiene, ergonomics/ posture and client consultation. Learn to project a professional image, manage a salon, and maintain inventory.Basic Human Anatomy - Obtain basic knowledge of cells, tissues, organs, and body systems with emphasis on bones, nerves, muscles and functions of the head, face, neck, arms, hands, legs, and feet.Basics Of Chemistry/Electricity - Learn the chemistry ofhair, skin, scalp, nails and products used. Implement safety precautions in the use of chemicals, electricity, electrical equipment and cosmetic chemistry. Theory and practical procedures are explained and demonstrated.Heartsaver® First Aid with Adult, Child & Pediatric CPRand AED - Learn how to manage illness and injury as the first emergency personnel arrive. Course covers basic principles of First Aid; medical/ injury emergencies;hands-on procedures with CPR; child and pediatric CPR; operating an AED and how to help in a choking emergency.Professionalism - Receive instruction and real-worldexperience demonstrating effective communication skills, good attendance, proper uniform/dress requirements, and a positive attitude and ability to work with customers and co-workers.Cosmetology Lab/Salon - Students operate a full-service salon by consulting with clients and performing a variety of customer services including haircuts, color/chemical services, styling, pedicures, manicures, facials, and hand/arm massages. Dental Assisting

Dental Assisting l 60O Hours

600 clock hours/10 months I CIP Code: 51.0601 I SOC Code: 31-0901.00Learn and practice chair-side assisting through classroom instruction and hands-on practice in our equipped Dental Assisting Lab. Instruction includes protocols compliant with CDC and ADA guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Obtain radiography certification upon successful completion of classroom, clinical and successful skills demonstration. Prepare for and obtain certification through the Commission on Ohio Dental Assistants (CODA) upon passing exam. CODA Certification is recognized by the Ohio State Dental Board as a pathway to further certifications including: Expanded Functions Dental Assisting (EFDA); Coronal Polishing; N2O Sedation Observation; and Sealant Placement. Gain experience and employer connections through completing 100 hours of externship at various dental offices outside of class hours.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Applied Anatomy and Physiology - Understand multiple body systems and their function. Gain knowledge of how each body system affects the oral cavity. Learn body planes and appropriate terminology of body directions. Learn morphology including tooth identification and positioning.

Dental Science - Learn supporting oral structures, embryology of the teeth, and tooth nomenclature and dental caries. Topics include basic dental terminology, pathology, hygiene, dental materials, dental care, post-operative treatment and more. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider - Teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. Learn how to perform basic life support (adult/child/infant) and AED in a variety of healthcare settings.Dental Assisting Lab - Students engage in hands-on interactive dental assisting procedures. Students must successfully perform skills to pass competency ratings. Students are also graded weekly on their demonstration of professionalism.Dental Radiography - Understand safety measurements while exposing dental radiographs. Acquire knowledge of equipment use and maintenance. Use hands-on tools to expose a full mouth series. Student receives a dental radiographer’s certification upon successful completion of written exam and skill demonstrations.Heartsaver® First Aid - Learn how to recognize and manage illness and injuries within the first few minutes of their occurrence. Students receive a Pass or Fail grade.Infection Control - Use proper sterilization techniques; universal precautions and correct waste management procedures to ensure safety. Chemical inventory control and storage is discussed. Learn OSHA and blood borne pathogen standards and how they affect dental practices. Protocols taught are compliant with CDC and ADA COVID-19 guidelines. Instrumentation - Understand basic setups, procedural steps, and anticipation of next instrument, instrument sterilization and packaging and tray setups. Students gain hands-on experience transferring instruments. Understand moisture control, proper placement, cotton rolls placement, gauze use and air/water syringe use. Identify instruments used during specialty procedures and identify rotary instruments.

600 clock hours/8 months I CIP Code: 46.0302 I SOC Code: 49-2094Prepare for an in-demand career in maintenance by learning a new trade or upgrading your skills!Learn through instruction in both classroom and industry-current electrical and welding lab facilities. Labs include electromechanical trainers; motor control simulators; wind/solar training stations & grid tie systems; pneumatic training apparatus; Greenlee computerized conduit bender; PLC trainers; multi-process welding stations; fabricator; and virtual welder. Gain multiple NCCER certifications and certify to American Welding Society (AWS) standards in one process. Students complete 50 hours of required job shadowing. This experience has provided students with valuable employer connections, and sometimes job offers!

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Introduction to the Power Industry - Describes the many ways in which electricity can be produced, from burning fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas, to harnessing nuclear energy, and using renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal, and solar energy.Industrial Electrical Maintenance & Instrumentation Level 1 - Topics of instruction include: orientation to the trade; tools of the trade; fasteners & anchors; oxy-fuel cutting; gaskets & packing; craft related mathematics; construction drawings; pumps & drivers; valves; intro. to test equipment; material handling & hand rigging; mobile & support equipment; lubrication.Industrial Electrical Maintenance & Instrumentation Level 2 - Topics of instruction include: industrial safety for E & I technicians; intro. to national electric code; electrical theory; alternating current; E & I test equipment; flow, pressure, level & temperature; process mathematics; hand bending; tubing; clean, purge & test tubing & piping systems; instrumentdrawings & documents part 1; conductors & cables;conductor terminations & splices.

Managing Electrical Hazards - Introduces electrical hazards in the workplace and describes how to avoid electrical hazards; how to analyze/document shock and arc flash hazards; how to plan/conduct work around them; how to complete an energized electrical work permit, and select the specialized personal protective equipment required for electrical work.Introduction to Wind Energy - Introduces the fundamentals of generating electrical power from wind energy. A brief history of wind energy is included as well as wind science, the interception of wind energy through a rotor, and an identification of major wind turbine generator components.Introduction to Solar Photovoltaics (P/V) - Covers the basic concepts of PV systems and their components, along with general sizing and electrical/ mechanical design requirements, overview of performance analysis and troubleshooting.Basic Welding and Cutting - Students gain experiencein oxy-fuel cutting safety, equipment and usage; cuttingstraight lines, squares piercing and slots, bevels; washing and gouging. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) - Consists of 80 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on lab followed by 16 hours of clinical experience in a local long-term care facility. Upon successful completion of the classroom and clinical experiences, students sit for the Ohio Department of Health State Tested Nurse Aide certification test. Students normally can take this test within 2 weeks of completing the program.STNA Theory/Lab - Mandatory Ohio Department of Health (NATCEP) curriculum includes: safety; infection control; personal care; mental health; care impaired; residents’ rights; communication; data collection; basic nursing skills; role and responsibility; disease process; and older adult growth. In addition, students gain valuable skills through hands-on lab experience taking vital signs; dressing/feeding dependent residents; catheter care; abdominal thrusts; basic activity planning/medication dosage calculation; medicalterminology; safe transfers using walkers, gait belts, and mechanical lifts. Students complete a total of 160 hoursof externship between STNA clinical experiences,Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting externships.Students apply clinical, laboratory, and administrativeskills in a medical facility under the supervision of facility personnel or the instructor. Students demonstrate competency in clinical and administrative skillsnecessary for comprehensive patient care andstrengthening professional communications andinteractions. Start the program by upgrading your skills in blueprints and manual machining; progress to CNC operations/basic programming and finish with an introduction to both Mastercam and injection mold maintenance. Learn in our equipped lab which includes mills, lathes CNC machines and computer simulation. Students who are dedicated, ready to learn, and in class every day will find numerous employment opportunities. Students prepare and take National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Measurement, Materials & Safety Certification Exam and earn Mold Maintenance & Repair competency certificate.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Applied Math - Review of fractions, decimals and conversions, measurements and metric conversions; calculate surface footage for mills, lathes and other machines; calculate precision measurements; figure speeds and feeds; trigonometry for machining.Blueprint Reading - Understand blueprint drawings and sketches; learn geometric symbols, blueprint layouts and tolerances; practice reading and creating various types of blueprints and sketches. Use blueprints to machine parts.Manual & CNC Machining Theory - Emphasizes calculations and machining operations on lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders and their accessories. Introduces CNC programming and machining.

Manual & CNC Machining Lab Application - Utilize machining hand tools for craftsmanship; layout projects and use drill press, saw and hand tools to complete layout project. Students also complete manual and CNC lathe and mill projects and learn to operate surface grinder. Students are also graded on performance, use of tools, attendance, motivation and teamwork skills.Safety - Learn to operate all equipment with safety precautions (eye protection, dress, appearance). Students prepare for certification to American Welding Society (AWS) standards in an industry current lab facility equipped with a CNC Plasma Cutting Machine (PlasmaCam), Robotic Welder, Fabricator, Environmental Air System, Quality Control Inspection Stations and multi-process welders.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Shielded Metal Arc Welding - Gain an understanding of arc welding, welding safety, arc welding power sources, electrode classifications and selection. Develop skills necessary to make quality shielded metal arc welds in all positions on mild steel from 3/16’’ to 1/2’’ plate, single and multiple pass, using mild steel, low hydrogen and iron powder electrodes, with DC welding current.Shielded Metal Arc Welding II - Produce quality multi- pass groove welds with backing on 3/8’’ plates (horizontal, vertical and overhead positions). Welding Fabrication - Practical application of cutting and welding processes. Students will fabricate several small projects in lab using combination squares, levels, cutting equipment and welding processes throughout the program.Gas Metal Arc Welding - Understand gas metal arc welding, equipment adjustments, metal transfer and shielding gases. Gain skills to make quality gas metal arc welds in all positions on mild steel from 3/16’’ sheet to 3/8’’ plate, single and multiple passes, using short circuit transfer process. Learn about problems associated with welding situations and corrective action. Learn pulse transfer other than short-circuiting. Learn how pulse transfer provides for high deposition rate for all position welding. Cancellation and Refund PolicyEnrollment Agreement Cancellation (before training commences)The student has the right to cancel the Enrollment Contract (Enrollment Agreement) at any time prior to program attendance by contacting the school.• If the student notifies the school of cancellation more than three days after the Enrollment Agreement is signed, the school shall keep the Enrollment Deposit paid by the student up to $100. The Enrollment Deposit can be applied to future tuition should the student re-enroll.

Students who fall below a 2.0 Grade Point Average will be placed on probation for a period of time and dismissed if after that period of time the GPA remains below a 2.0. (Individual program policies may be higher than the MACC policy.) Credit BalancesFunds paid in excess of the fees due the school areconsidered a credit balance which will be refunded to the student, unless the student has borrowed Stafford Loan Funds in which case this credit balance will be returned to the student’s Stafford Loan balance(s), Unsubsidized Stafford loans first.RefundsRefunds will be processed within 30 days of the dateof determination by the school that a student haswithdrawn or is dismissed from the school. Decluttering KonMari Method& Swedish Death Cleaning

There are a gazillion ways to declutter and organize.Get rid of your anxieties. The main focus of this is findinga way to “free yourself”, as well as making your homemore relaxing and enjoyable. Both are extreme forms of decluttering and both require a lifestyle change. KonMari Method is about keeping only what sparks joy. Swedish Death Cleaning is about getting rid of things other people won’t want when you are gone and while they are grieving. The class will touch on reasons for decluttering, methods, and how to rid anxieties while doing it, and about “freeing oneself” from “stuff” and materialism.
