THE BAND’S VISIT was the winner of 10 Tony Awards, making it one of the most Tony-winning musicals in history. It was also the 2019 Grammy Awards® winner for Best Musical Theater Album.

In this delightfully offbeat story, set in a town that’s way off the beaten path, a band of musicians arrive lost, out of the blue. Under the spell of the desert sky, and with beautiful music perfuming the air, the band brings the town to life in unexpected and tantalizing ways. Even the briefest visit can stay with you forever.

With a score that seduces your soul and sweeps you off your feet, THE BAND’S VISIT rejoices in the way music makes us laugh, makes us cry, and ultimately, brings us together.

This “theatrical landmark has transformed theater and the way we think about history.”— THE NEW YORK TIMES

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now.

Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre —a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, HAMILTONis based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.

“SUMPTUOUS. GORGEOUS. As good as it gets.” — THE NEW YORK TIMES, NYT CRITIC’S PICK

“AN EPIC CELEBRATION of music, togetherness and hope.” — FORBES

“UNFORGETTABLE. Simply one of the most exquisite works of musical storytelling I’ve seen in my more than 25 years as a theater critic.” — LOS ANGELES TIMES

Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always.

HADESTOWN intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

“THRILLING, GLORIOUS and BETTER THAN IT EVER WAS. Eliza is a hero for our moment!” — THE NEW YORK TIMES

“A MASTERPIECE of entertainment.” — ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

From Lincoln Center Theater that brought you The King & I and South Pacific, comes “a sumptuous new production of the most perfect musical of all time” (Entertainment Weekly), Lerner & Loewe’s MY FAIR LADY. Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production is “thrilling, glorious and better than it ever was” (New York Times). “Every so often a revival comes along that reminds you how indispensable great theater can be” (NY1).

Boasting such classic songs as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “The Rain in Spain,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “On the Street Where You Live,” MY FAIR LADY tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.” But who is really being transformed?

It’s “far and away the funniest musical of the season” (Daily News). It’s “the most uproarious new show in years” (The Hollywood Reporter). It’s “the best comedy on Broadway” (Forbes). The National High School Musical Awards (also known as the Jimmy Awards) is a national celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theatre that recognizes individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performance. The Jimmys impact more than 50,000 students annually who participate in high school musical theatre competitions in their own region throughout the U.S. A Best Actor and Best Actress from each competition is sent to New York for a week of intensive coaching and rehearsals with industry professionals in preparation for their Broadway stage debut at the Jimmy Awards show where an esteemed panel of judges crowns the nations top performers.

Tucson High Schools can compete in this competition by entering The Monte Awards - High School Musical Theatre Finals. Organized by Broadway in Tucson and Arts Express, jurors (professional arts educators and theatre artists) will review each participating high school musical. A selection of finalists will be selected to participate in the regional competition to be held in Tucson on May 10 at the Fox Theatre. The winners of The Monte Awards will go on to compete in New York at the Jimmy Awards. All candidate’s expenses for the local and national competition are paid.
