A good tip from GOC alum Ginny HI have completed this Challenge over a period of several months. After taking the class, I set up a station to enter new items into the system easily. I have a 12” x 12” plastic box with scrap paper, a small ink pad, pens, glue, extra catalog, and ScrapRack sheets to add when needed. Now, it is easy to shop, bring home, and immediately (or soon after), add the new samples to the system!!
Step 1 – How will you store your items?Challenges with these supplies:• Different sizes and shapes• Variety of products
Step 2 – Gather, Sort, Label• Gather all your products together • Sort items by brand and product type • Give each of them a number (note: some are already numbered by the manufacturer, so you
can incorporate a code and use the manufacturer number if that works for you)
Step 3 – Create Color CatalogGroup products by type (chalks, pens, inks, Stickles, colored pencils), make color swatch samples, then enter the assigned number and manufacturer name of each item next to the swatch in your catalog pages. You may want to create 2 identical catalogs - one to keep in your Rainbow Section, and a portable one to take when shopping.Use Tiffany’s Peek-a-hue color catalog sheets.
Challenge #6: Color your WorldWhat to do with ink, glitter glue, pens, paint...
Challenge Goals• Have quick, easy access to your inks, pencils, markers, and other “coloring” agents.• To be able to purchase new products without duplicating what you already own.
GOTTALOT? You may want to give your products a manufacturer code as well, i.e. Quick Quotes = QQTim Holtz Distress = THDSpectrum Noir = SN
Options include:• Baskets, boxes/tubs, cases, towers• Totally Tiffany Pen and Ink Palace, Stash & Store cases, Color Keeper, EZ2O Bags
I support things that are easy-access like baskets with no lids. Things you can bring to your worktable easily, and put back quickly.
Step 4 – Create Manufacturer Catalog SheetGOTTALOTS especially - creating catalog sheets by manufacturer/product type will really help when you’re shopping for new products.
Step 5 – Store ProductsStore cataloged products together by type in your chosen storage system.GOTTALITTLES - Storing all color products together by color is an option for Gottalittles
Other Options / Ideas:Get product lists/grids from manufacturers (check their websites). Companies like Tsukineko, Ranger, and Copic have lists you can use to keep track of their products you own.
Challenge #6: Assignment Checklist
Decide on and, if needed, purchase the storage tools that work with the way you craft
Gather all your coloring agents together by type and brand
Create catalog sheets by color & by manufacturer
Sort 3 containers of coloring agents
Sort 2 more inches of paper and/or 1 more container of embellishments (if necessary)
Post your progress on the FaceBook group, or send us an email.
When you complete this challenge, enjoy your reward!
