The load spectrum(in most cases estimated) can be evaluated according to the definitions below:

Selection criteria

1. What are the operating conditions?2. What is the specified safe working load?3. To what height must the load be lifted?4. What is the required lifting speed?

5. Do the loads need to be lifted and lowered with great accuracy?

6. Is horizontal load travel necessary?7. How is the hoist to be controlled?

For the medium load spectrum and an average daily operating time of 2,7 hours, the table shows group 2 m. For a load capacity of 40 t and 8/2 rope reeving, the table indicates hoist size DR 20 - 40.

The group is determined by the load spectrum and operating time.

The warm air rising from the hoist inverter braking resistors must be considered for project-engineering.If a hoist inverter is used, a minimum distance of 100 mm must be maintained from the top edge of the hoist unit.

For controlling a twin hoist crab, a standard processor control system with CAN bus signal transfer is used.

In this case, the control system uses the parameter sets for ‘two-crab mode’, i.e. all safety and monitoring functions are active and the results are safely exchanged via the CAN bus connection.

Two drive variants are provided for the hoist units: stepped hoist drives (pole-changing hoist motors) stepless hoist drives (inverter operation)

The motors are switched on at the same time and operated together. Owing to the motor tolerances, slightly uneven unwinding of the lifting rope from the drum is possible. However, this will be corrected when moving in the opposite direction and also can be deliberately compensated by approaching the upper limit position.Unwanted operating statuses and hazards by overloading are prevented by the following equipment: Limit switches Speed monitoring Overload protection by means of a load measuring pin in the top block

Any other control variants must be designed for individual cases. This also applies to crabs with an auxiliary hoist unit or with a platform.
