21 Days of Prayer Focus, Scripture, and Prayer Points

Day 01: June 8, 2020 Monday: Pray for those impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the

least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:40

(As you pray, take your time with each prayer point. Allow The Spirit to lead you, bringing particular people to your mind and heart.)

Prayer Points Lord Jesus, help us remember:

Those who are in the high-risk category.

Those who feel like they must choose between their health or their bills.

The parents who have no options for childcare for their children.

Lord, as some of us lose “margin money” in this economic market, help us remember:

Those who have no margin at all

The ones who have no homes, vehicles, or safe places to shelter

No food to eat

Page 3: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 02: June 9, 2020 Tuesday: Pray for faith and wisdom in the face of fear.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust ... Psalm 56:3-4a

(As you pray, take your time with each prayer point. Allow The Spirit to lead you, bringing particular people to your mind and heart.)

Prayer Points Holy Jesus we ask you to:

Bring peace as we continue to navigate this strange experience

Replace fear with steady trust, panic with soul rest

Keep us from shaming one another for our feelings of fear

Father, we pray you will:

Strengthen healthcare workers, grant them wisdom and insight

Protect the frail and swiftly heal those who are sick

Give wisdom to our leaders as they make difficult decisions

Page 4: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 03: June 10, 2020 Wednesday: Pray for racial reconciliation in the USA.

“for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26-28.

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands” Revelation 7:9.

(As you pray, take your time with each prayer point. Allow The Spirit to lead you, bringing particular people to your mind and heart.)

Prayer Points Father, we recognize that there is a history of racial tension in our country and we sit here uncomfortable with the events in our cities across America. We know that racism is far from your heart. So, would you give us:

Eyes to see people the way you see people.

Ears to hear the stories of the marginalized and hurt.

Hands that are willing to serve rather than harm.

Feet that are mobilized to make a difference in our community.

Hearts that are filled with compassion for all people.

Heads that understand this truth: All people are bearers of your image.

Mouths that speak with grace and love into hurting communities.

We ask that you would guide our thoughts and actions. We ask that you would bring an end to racism and divide in our country and in our churches. We ask that you give us a glimpse of the glory of your future kingdom--people from all nations and tongues praising your name forever.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will

go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me! Isaiah 6:8

(As you pray, take your time with each prayer point. Allow The Spirit to lead you, bringing particular people to your mind and heart.)

Father, thank you for those who have courageously said, “Yes” to your calling to serve our community. Use your church to bring hope to those who are isolated and vulnerable. Protect those who are being told to shelter in a home that is not safe.

Day 05: June 12, 2020 Friday: Pray for the Global Church

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound ... to comfort all who mourn;”. Isaiah 61:1-2b

Prayer Points: Heavenly Father, The ONE always near us, we pray:

Your Church would be salt and light in this dark hour

We find ways to spread love, joy, peace, faith and hope

Day 06: June 13, 2020 Saturday: Pray for our International Partners

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15

GOD, in a time when we are being forced to isolate, we are thankful to be part of one body with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world! May they know they are not alone. And may we know how to encourage and support them in their work.

Prayer Points Jesus, be near…

Our cross-cultural missionaries who have left their homes and their families to serve on the front lines in hard places.

- Pete and Abby Dockery (Guatemala) - Tim and Lisa Turner (Japan) - Jonathan and Heather Powell (Ukraine) - Team Expansion

Our national missionaries who are leading the church in their home countries and tirelessly working to make the name of Jesus known.

- C.Y. Kim (Asia) - Pino Neglia (Italy) - Rajan Ipe (India)

Today we ask You to:

Protect their physical and spiritual health and give them rest.

Give them courage to share the love of Christ even in places where it is not safe to be a follower of Jesus.

Give them wisdom to serve the materially and spiritually poor in places where many live every day in a desperate reality.

Provide resources for the Church to bring hope to places where they lack medical care, economic and political stability.

May your Kingdom come all over the earth! Would multitudes come to know the name of Jesus – our comforter, redeemer and healer!

Day 07: June 14, 2020 Sunday: Pray for the Next Generation.

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,” Psalm 78:4-6.

Prayer Points Lord, we ask that you would guide the generation coming up after us. We recognize their strength and potential as well as the obstacles that might stand in their way. Lord, we fear that the last two months have been a burden on young people and we ask that you would be near them.

We praise you for this good news: - Nearly 46% of young adults have started new religious practices during

the COVID-19 pandemic. - 35% of young adults report that their faith has been increased during

the COVID-19 pandemic. - 52% of Gen Z report spending more time socializing as a family during

COVID-19. - Nearly 80% of young people reported that when a trusted adult outside

of their house connected with them during COVID-19, they felt less lonely.

- 55% of Gen Z say they are more inclined to volunteer in their community now than before the crisis.

And we mourn over this news: - 35% of Gen Z report increased feelings of loneliness since the beginning

of the outbreak. - 26% of Gen Z have experienced both increased anxiety and depression

during this pandemic. - May you equip us to come alongside the next generation and encourage

them to make use of their creativity to solve big problems in our world. And may they follow you closely for years to come.

Day 09: June 16, 2020 Tuesday: Pray for governmental leaders (national, state, and local).

“Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this

people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” God

answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you.” 2 Chronicles 1:10-12

Prayer Points Father God, today we remember those whom You have placed in leadership to govern us during this specific time in history. We pray for:

All elected and appointed government officials at every level of government

Their families and staff

That they would seek Your wise counsel and have the wisdom of Solomon as they make critical decisions

Their protection as they “go out and come in” before us

Their faith and love for You to increase over these days

Thank You, Lord, for these men and women who serve us.

Page 11: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 10: June 17, 2020 Wednesday: Pray for foster care families, children, and workers.

“But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted. You consider their grief and take it in hand. The helpless commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.” Psalm 10:14

Prayer Points Loving Jesus, we ask that during this time of uncertainty, Your nearness would be felt by:

Children whose homes are unsafe or who have had to be separated from parents, siblings and their “normal”

Peace and comfort to children who feel afraid, alone or confused

Grace and rest to foster parents who are weary

Wisdom to leaders and workers as they make difficult decisions

Day 11: June 18, 2020 Thursday: Pray for emotional and financial impact.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

Prayer Points Lord, God, today we reset our thoughts to be fully focused and stayed on You and by an act of our will, we choose to trust You with:

Our thoughts which can drift to fear in these uncertain times

Our emotions which can overtake us

Our hearts that can be troubled

Our finances that we rely on for food and shelter

Thank You that You are our source of peace when we trust in You. Help us to be outwardly focused during this time and generous with those around us; generous with our relationships and resources. May You be glorified in every thought we have and in every action we take.

Day 12: June 19, 2020 Friday: Pray for the vulnerable around the world with limited resources.

have no one to defend them… for their lives are precious to him.” Psalm 72:12 & 14b

Prayer Points Our defender Jesus, we ask that You would intervene around the world on behalf of:

People who are high-risk in countries where there is little or no access to medical care

People who already live in places where they wonder if they’ll have food for tomorrow and are now lacking work and safe shelter

People who live in countries where Your gospel is not preached and are facing this crisis without the hope of eternity

Father, we pray You will use Your Church to bring:

Resources to the missionaries and helpers on the front lines where the needs are greatest

Relief to the hungry, the hurting and the vulnerable

Rescue to the hopeless and spiritually poor. May the light of Christ shine in the dark places of our world.

Day 14: June 21, 2020 Sunday: The Church.

Jesus prayed, “… that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:22-23

“… and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the

greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,” 1 Corinthians 12:23

Prayer Points Father, as our thoughts return to ourselves again and again, help us remember that we are part of something and Someone much greater than ourselves. We are Your Church, united with believers throughout the world. Today, help us to:

Focus on our larger purpose as part of the body of Christ, Your Church.

Not overlook the parts of the body that we think are “lesser than” but rather so, give them greater honor than ourselves. Forgive us for the times we consider ourselves more important than our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Remember You, Jesus, and to desire unity in Your body; so help us to forgive and love well.

Pray that Your Church will turn to You with greater passion than ever before, setting aside our differences so that the world will know it has a Savior who loves them.

Thank You, Jesus, that You want us to be a part of Your body. We pray we represent Your Church with love and grace.

Page 16: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 15: June 22, 2020 Monday: Mental health issues.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea...” Psalm 46:1-2

Prayer Points Our great Father, full of wisdom and compassion, we pray for those who:

Deal with mental health challenges; feeling isolated, anxious and helpless

Need regular therapies and treatments that must now be postponed

Find it nearly impossible to keep worry and fear at bay

By Your grace, Jesus, will You help them:

Avoid isolation by staying connected with their social and family networks

Keep daily routines of rest, exercise and proper diet

Practice habits that will help them move toward You

Avoid the cycles of irritability that easily grow into frustration, anger, and sometimes rage

Jesus, remind the suffering ones that You have the whole world in Your hands!

Page 17: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 16: June 23, 2020 Tuesday: Christian communities.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Prayer Points Holy Jesus, the One who commissioned us to be Your hands and feet, may we be:

People of courage, not people of fear

People who protect and serve our neighbors, not fixated on our own safety

People of generosity, not people of greed, hoarding and withholding

People of community and connection, not isolated and withdrawn

May we remember we are Your people, and in giving and loving, we reflect You:

Where we are

Whatever it costs

For as long as it takes!

As Your body, give us grace to live out Your vision for the world during this crisis.

Day 17: June 24, 2020 Wednesday: Workers on the front lines.

“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his

friends.” John 15:13

Prayer Points Father God, today we remember those who put the lives of others before their own. We pray:

For all workers on the front lines: janitorial staff, medical professionals, law enforcement, military, grocery personnel and first responders

For their families and loved ones who worry for their safety

That they would put their trust in You remembering that Jesus holds the keys to life and death

For their protection as they “go out and come in” before us

For their faith to increase as they put their trust in You

That their hearts would remain soft in the face of suffering

Thank You, Lord, for these courageous and selfless men and women who serve us.

Page 19: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 18: June 25, 2020 Thursday: Pray for unity amongst believers.

“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the

lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.” Romans 12:16

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of

the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of

the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” John 17:23

Prayer Points Father, we desire what you desire. We know that one of those things is Christian unity. Unfortunately, in times like we are experiencing now, it would be incredibly easy for the people of your kingdom to be divided... Would you help us to...

Love and encourage our brothers and sister in Christ.

Control our tongues when there are moments of disagreement.

Focus our minds on the Gospel together.

Repent when we mistreat a fellow believer.

May the world see the unity in the church, and desire to be a part of such a wonderful community.

Page 20: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 19: June 26, 2020 Friday: Medical centers and staff.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139:13-15

Prayer Points God who made us all, the One who crafted our bodies, we hold before You:

Doctors, nurses and those who are doing all they can to care for their patients

Innovative ideas that will help the sick

Oh God, have mercy on:

Those who are suffering without family close by due to restrictions

The families of the sick who are not allowed inside the hospital

The ones who have little faith and need to know that You are near

Page 21: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 20: June 27, 2020 Saturday: Prayer for laborers in the mission field.

“Jesus told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the

Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” Luke 10:2

Prayer Points Our Savior Jesus, thank You for the hope we have in You! We praise You for:

The truth of Your Word, the free gift of your grace, and the hope of eternity which brings peace in this time of chaos

Our missionary partners whom You have sent to share Your light in the dark places of our world

Your global Church, our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who are being the hands and feet of Jesus to their communities in this difficult time

Father, we ask that You would:

Send workers and translators to the unreached people groups of our world who do not have access to your Word in their heart language

Bring a great harvest of new believers as You empower our missionaries with courage, endurance and favor in their communities

Unleash a disciple-making movement across our world, when so many are looking for hope in a way we have never seen before, through your Church!

Page 22: 21 Days of Prayer PDF · Saturday: Pray for our International Partners Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Day 21: June 28, 2020 Sunday: The Church as the hands and feet of Jesus.

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:1-4

Prayer Points Father, we confess it is difficult to look beyond ourselves in these days of confinement and self-isolation. Our desire is be Your hands and feet, Jesus. Please show us how in these difficult days. Help us to love others well and to remember that even though we may be distanced from others by space, we are still connected through You. Today, help us to:

Remember those who may be feeling isolated and reach out to them

Think of ways to help those around us by being Jesus to them

Be more generous with our attention

Be more generous with our possessions

Love as You love

Thank You, Jesus, that You want us to be Your hands and feet. We pray our hands will always be reaching out to others and our feet will always be shod with the “readiness given by the gospel of peace.
