There were very talented speakers among them. After the speeches Jack, Eli and the other participants were presented with their Certificates by the Lions Club members. Well done boys on your speech presentations!
Zone Cross Country
Riverina Congratulations to Natayla, who came fourth in her age group at the recent Zone Cross Country Carnival. Natalya will now go to represent the District at the Riverina Carnival on Thursday 13 June. Congratulations Natalya!
This term the SRC organised our annual fundraiser for the local hospital. Money raised helps provide our local community with aid and support to sick children and their families in times of need. ‘Give Me 5 For Kids’ has been a very successful local charity that we have continually supported each year with an ‘Out of Uniform Day’.
Our whole school enjoyed a day of NO UNIFORM to help support ‘Give Me 5 for Kids’. Riley, Rhys, Zeek and Dakoda helped raise money for this very worthy charity.

PSSA Sport starts tomorrow Friday 7 June
If your child has been chosen to represent the school in the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) competition, they will travel by bus to their sporting grounds. This year we will also field an AFL team and this will be played each week here at our school and other schools will travel to us to participate. This means there will be no cost involved for students playing AFL.
Netball will be played each week at J C King Park and Soccer will be held at various venues. This season’s competition commences Friday 7 June and finishes Friday 16 August. Permission notes for all PSSA sport have been sent home with selected students along with a Sport Code of Conduct form. Both forms must be filled in and returned before your child can play.
Bus cost is $3.00 per week to be paid each Friday. You can choose to pay $27 up front to cover the whole 9 week season. (No cost for AFL). Sports uniform must be worn. Shin pads and football boots are compulsory (for Soccer). Football boots for AFL. Make sure that your child brings a drink for half-time and after the game. Soccer and Football players MUST WEAR MOUTHGUARDS.
The new Sports House Flags have arrived! Thanks to the generous support of our hard working P & C committee, they were able to purchase these flags for the school. Theses flags will be used to display at sporting events. AWESOME!!

Students learnt about the responsibility of owning a pet. They were involved in a hands-on demonstration of approaching a dog as well as an informative video session about wanting to own a pet but also being mindful of how much care and responsibility it takes.

Weather in our world In Science this term we have been investigating ‘Weather’. As part of the unit we have been observing the weather changes and cloud movement. On one day, the students were very creative with what they could see in the sky. We were then inspired by the book ‘Little Cloud’ by Eric Carle to create our own ‘little cloud’ that turned into something else.
The students had some very
interesting ideas!

Max and Oscar enjoying their reader- ‘Seasons and Weather’. Oscar discovered that “The whales move when the winter is close so they can go to warmer
places in the water to have their babies”.

The Party Box Meal Deal was a real hit with the kids this week. Children tucked into their favourite foods and didn’t waste a bite! Thanks Alison and Jackie for your huge effort in getting out over 100 orders on the day.
We are collecting the Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. Drop your stickers in the SHPS box at the supermarket or bring them into the school office.

Athletics Catch-Up Carnival Our Athletics Catch-Up Carnival was held last week. Staff and 21 students braved the inclement weather to complete the Relay and remaining High Jump events. It was terribly cold weather but the children put in their best
efforts to complete their events and be finished before the downpour of rain started. Well done everyone!
Thanks Alison and Jackie

Compulsory Attendance Absences We would like to remind parents that regular attendance to school is compulsory. On occasions your child may need to be absent from school, eg; being sick, family reasons or unavoidable appointments. Following an absence from school you must ensure that within seven days you provide the school with a verbal or written explanation for the absence. Lateness It is equally important to arrive at school on time daily as this ensures that students
do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
reduces classroom disruption
gives students time to greet their friends before class.
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents. All students who arrive late to school must come to the office to sign in and take a red card to the class teacher. Early leavers also need to come to the office to sign out.
