    MR has mainly four stakeholders Researcher

    Client

    Respondent

    Public

    These stakeholders have certain responsibilities toeach other and to the research project

    Some of the ethical issues are as follows:

    Ethical issues arise when the interests of thesestakeholders are in conflict and when they lack in theirresponsibilities like Researcher doesnt follow proper research procedure

    Client misrepresents the findings in the companysadvertising

    Client has to be candid and disclose to the researcherall the relevant information

    The researcher is bound to define the problem to thebest interest of the client rather than the research firm

    The researcher must ensure that the research designutilized will provide the information needed to

    address the MR problem that has been identified The client should have the integrity not to

    misrepresent the project & not to make unreasonabledemands

    Only the data judged to be appropriate should be used

    The data should be collected using morallyappropriate procedures

    The data collected is judged unethical if the way ofcollection harms the respondents or invades theirprivacy

    These issues include: Disguising the purpose of research

    Use of deceptive procedures Videotaping and recording of proceedings

    Comfort level of the respondents

    Misusing the findings

    Comfort level of the participants should be taken intoconsideration

    Researcher s have a obligation to not to discloserespondents names to outside parties, including theclient

    After taking the consent of the respondents, theirnames can be disclosed

    Scales used should be appropriate to get the dataneeded to answer the research questions & to test thehypotheses

    Scales should have reasonable reliability, validity &generalizability

    Dont use long overly questions

    Avoid sensitive issues

    Piggy-banking should be avoided

    Combining questions of more than one clients Do not deliberately bias the questionnaire

    Researcher has the responsibility towards both clients& respondents in the sampling process

    He must develop a sampling design that is appropriatefor reducing sampling errors

    Researchers and field workers should respect theprivacy, feelings & dignity of the respondents

    Respondents should be provided with adequateinformation about the research firm and the project

    After the interaction the respondents should be leftwith pleasant and positive feelings
