Summer Quarter - Adult Bible Classes
Classroom Donations Needed! Every year, our teachers in the local school systems face the problem of running short of some the basic supplies before the end of the year. Many times when they run out, teachers have to replace them with their own money. This summer, we have an opportunity to help by donating some of these supplies to enable our teachers to make it through the year without having the fear of running out. If you can help, bring some supplies to the building over the next several weeks. There will be an area in the foyer to begin collecting them. These are the items needed:
Paper Towels Tissues Hand Sanitizer
If you would like, you can make cash donations as well. Please see Chris Mikle if you can contribute! Thanks!
Rainbow will be having a Friends & Family Day on Sunday, August 23rd. We have set an attendance goal of 350 so make sure to go ahead and be inviting your friends and family to join us that day for worship and then a fellowship meal afterwards. There will be no p.m. service that evening.
We rejoice to share with you that 17 souls were baptized into Christ this past Thursday, July 9th at the Etowah County Detention Center. We are so thankful for all who continue to share God’s word with those who are incarcerated. Let’s pray for our new sisters in Christ as they begin their walk with the Lord.
He was a man of few words but made them count. "Preach the Word" was a very familiar slogan of our late brother Loy Mitchell who spent 42 years preaching in Zimbabwe. His passing on has left a yawning gap in the Lord's vineyard in this country. Loy loved the people of Zimbabwe so much that he ended up grasping and preaching in one of the local languages without an interpreter. His sermons were always full of illustrations which made it easier for people to understand God's Word. Even if Loy was laid to rest in Texas but we know that his heart will always be in Zimbabwe as he will be well remembered for a a long time to come by thousands of Christians in Africa and Zimbabwe In particular . May this gallant Christian receive his eternal reward on that Great Day!
Jonah Nyati is another soldier of Christ who passed on in June. Jonah was Stella's father and was the firstborn son of Kananda Nyati. Kananda accompanied early missionaries who came to Zimbabwe in the late 1800 preaching the Gospel from Tuli up to Wuyuwuyu in Mashonaland. His first wife passed on in the late 1950s while preaching in rural areas. Stella was still very young when her mother passed away but she remembers her as a very hospitable person as many Christians from rural areas visited her home now and again. Jonah was pivotal in planting many congregations in Matebeleland. The first congregation in Bulawayo started meeting in his house in Njube suburb before spreading to other areas. He succumbed to prostate cancer . May the Lord grant him his eternal reward when He appears.
Baptisms We are happy to inform you that seven souls were baptized during the month in review. One of those baptized was David Ndlovu ( 51) of Mvana , who works as a police officer in Nyamandlovu District. We praise the Lord! David was influenced by his wife Priscilla, who became a Christian some four years ago. It is possible for women to influence their husbands if they truly obey Christ.
Food Relief We sincerely thank our brothers and sisters in Canada and the United States for sending food to hundreds of families who are facing hunger. Your donations are appreciated very very much by all recipients. You are fulfilling the admonition of our Lord when he taught us that those who will be saved on that day are workers who would have helped the needy. He will say to them: " What you did to these little ones, you did it to me." The challenge to help the needy Christians especially in the rural areas still exists. Thank you so much for your kind and loving hearts.
May you be blessed for your unwavering support for the Lord's work in Africa and Zimbabwe in particular. Thank you very much!
