Peter Larkowski, Delta College, MI

Greetings from Michigan and happy 2019! I hope your winter semester is off to a great start.

I want to start by saying that I am honored to serve this organization as chair in 2019. Higher education is filled with challenges right now and I believe that pro-fessional development is critical to the success of faculty around the country. I also believe very strongly in servant leadership. I have spent the past three and a half years serving my department in a full release from teaching administrative

chair/dean roll and I viewed this opportunity as servant leadership. While there were many reward-ing aspects to this work and I grew a lot from it, my term has ended, and I have started back into the classroom this semester. This mid-year transition would not have been possible without my continued involvement in 2YC3 as well as other teaching professional development opportunities that I engaged in while working outside the classroom. Our organization has so much to offer and again, I am hon-ored and humbled to be able to serve you all as chair in 2019.

I want to thank all the other officers who have worked and continue to work hard to make this organi-zation great. In particular, I want to thank Mary Roslonowski for her work as chair in 2018.

This year, the 2YC3 is planning three great conferences. This spring, our first conference will be in the southeastern part of the country in Orlando, FL at Valencia College, March 29-30, 2019. The theme for the conference is Potion Masters of the Twenty-First Century and registration is ongoing (http://valen-ciacollege.edu/east/science/2yc3/).

In the late spring/early summer, 2YC3 will be partnering with the ACS Central Regional Meeting in Midland, MI (https://acscerm2019.org), June 4-8, although the 2YC3 programming will be Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8. The theme is “Molecules to Materials” and this conference (being an ACS re-gional meeting) would give you the opportunity to experience not only the excellent 2YC3 programming, but also programming from other areas of education as well as a robust technical program. Registra-tion is also open for this meeting.

Finally, in the fall, we will be on the west coast at San Diego Miramar College, August 23-24, 2019. More information will be available as we get closer to August. All our meeting information is also avail-able at http://www.2yc3.org/php/meetings.php.

I hope to see everyone at at least one of our conferences this year and am looking forward to a great 2019 for 2YC3! If you need anything or have any questions about 2YC3, etc, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or (989)-686-9271.

Best,Peter
