Product Characteristics and Advantages
No Maintenance, Easy Deployment, and Easy Management
The S2300 supports automatic conguration and plug-and-play, which dramatically reduces maintenance costs.
It adopts a fan-free design, which reduces mechanical faults and protects the equipment against damages
caused by condensed water and dusts. According to the reference value, 33% of device failures are caused by
invalid fans. In this case, the design reduces 53% of the maintenance rate.
The S2300 supports automatic remote upgrade in batches, which facilitates the use and deployment. It supports
diversied management and maintenance modes such as SNMPv1/v2/v3, command lines, Web NMS, Telnet, and
HGMP to exibly manage devices. In addition, the S2300 supports HGMPv2, NTP, SSHv2, HWTACACS+, RMON,
interface-based trafc statistics, and NQA to facilitate network planning and construction.
The S2300 supports GVRP, which dynamically assigns, registers, and propagates VLAN attributes to reduce the
network administrator's workload and ensure correct conguration of VLANs. The GVRP technology implements
dynamic conguration of VLANs. On a complicated network, GVRP can simplify VLAN conguration and reduce
network communication faults caused by incorrect conguration of VLANs.
Upgrade and service delivery of the S2300 can be completed at one time, which simplies management and
performance in the future.

No Noise, Energy Conservation, and Low Radiation
The S2300 adopts the new generation integrated chip and power-saving circuit design to ensure even heat
dissipation. It also supports idle port sleep to further reduce power consumption. Compared with products of
the same type, the S2300 reduces 40% of power consumption owing to the fan-free design without noises.
The power consumption is similar to that of a Compact Fluorescent Lamp. Radiation of the S2300 is low and
complies with radiation standards of electric appliances, so the S2300 has no harm to the human body and is
more environment friendly. It can be located in the splice box in a residential area.
Powerful Lightening Protection Capability
The S2300 adopts a Huawei patented lightning technology to prevent lightning induced over voltage. All ports
have a lightning protection capability of IEC61000-4-5 10/700us 6 KV. Compared with conventional lightning
protection technologies, the Huawei patented lightning technology greatly reduces the possibility of lightning
damage on the equipment even in atrocious environments or even in scenarios where grounding cannot be
implemented.
VLAN-based Service Control
The S2300-EI supports ACLs, in which ACL rules are delivered based on VLAN IDs. In this manner, the S2300
exibly controls multiple interfaces in a VLAN and uniformly schedules resources.
The S2300-EI supports 1:1 VLAN switching to provide IPTV services with no home gateway congured. In
addition, leading in the industry, the S2300 supports N:1 VLAN switching. In this manner, VLAN aggregation is
implemented on the user side and the number of VLANs is thus decreased.
The S2300-EI supports QinQ to encapsulate private VLAN tags in public VLAN tags of packets and transmit the
packets through the backbone network of carriers.
The S2300 supports multiple modes of VLAN division: interface-based VLAN division (you can specify the VLAN
that the interface is added to) and MAC address-based VLAN division which is applied to the scenario where
there are high requirements for security and mobility.
Rich Multicast Functions
The S2300 supports rich Layer 2 multicast replication functions, including IGMP snooping, IGMP lter, fast leave,
multicast load balancing among member interfaces of a trunk; it can limit the rate of multicast packets and
collect trafc statistics based on interfaces, fully meeting the requirements of IPTV services.
Comprehensive QoS Policies
The S2300 supports complex trafc classication based on VLAN IDs, MAC addresses, IP protocols, source
addresses, destination addresses, priorities, or interfaces to which application programs are applied; the S2300
also supports ow-based rate limit to ensure line-speed forwarding on each interface. In this manner, the high
quality of voice, video, and data services is guaranteed. Each interface supports four queues and multiple queue
scheduling algorithms such as WRR, SP, and WRR+SP.
Excellent Security Features
The S2300 series switches provide multiple security measures to protect user security.
The S2300 listens to the MAC addresses or IP addresses, address lease, VLAN IDs, and interfaces by establishing
and maintaining a DHCP snooping binding table. In this way, IP addresses and access interfaces of DHCP users
can be tracked. The S2300 directly discards invalid packets that do not match binding entries, such as ARP
spoong packets and packets with tampered IP addresses, to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks to campus
networks that hackers initiate by using ARP packets. The trusted interface can also be congured to ensure
validity of the DHCP server.

The S2300 supports strict learning of ARP entries to prevent ARP spoong attackers from exhausting ARP entries
so that users can access the Internet normally. It also supports IP source check to prevent DoS attacks caused by
MAC address spoong, IP address spoong, and MAC/IP spoong.
User information such as the user name, IP address, MAC address, VLAN, access interface, and ag indicating
whether anti-virus software is installed on the client can be bound statically or dynamically, and policies (VLAN,
QoS, ACL) can be delivered dynamically.
The S2300 can limit the number of MAC addresses learned on an interface to prevent attackers from exhausting
MAC address entries by using bogus source MAC address. In this way, MAC addresses of normal users can be
learned and ooding is prevented.
PoE Function
The S2300 can use PoE power supplies with different power levels to provide the PoE function. Powered devices
(PDs) such as IP Phone, WLAN AP, Security, and Buletooth AP can be connected to the S3300 through twisted
pairs. The S3300 provides 48V DC power for the connected PDs. As the power sourcing equipment (PSE), the
S5300 complies with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at (PoE+) and is compatible with PDs that are incompatible with

802.3af or 802.3at. Each port provides a maximum power of 30 W, complying with IEEE 802.3at. The PoE+
function increases the maximum power of each port and implements intelligent power management in high-
power applications, which helps you use PDs conveniently. In addition, the S3300 can work in power-saving
mode. The S2300 PWR series support improved PoE solutions and you can determine whether a PoE port
provides power and the time a PoE port provides power.
Good Expansibility
The S2300 series switches support iStack. Multiple S5300s start to construct a virtual chassis-shaped structure
immediately after stacking cables are connected. Stack members are classied into master, slave, and backup
switches. The backup switch reduces the duration of service interruption when the master switch fails. The S3300
supports intelligent upgrade. Therefore, the software version of a new switch does not need to be changed
when it is added to a stack. The stacking technology enables you to connect multiple switches through cables to
expand the system capacity and manage switches in a stack by using a single IP address, which greatly reduces
costs of system expansion, operation, and maintenance. Compared with traditional networking technologies, the
iStack stacking technology has advantages in extensibility, reliability, and system architecture.
