1.1 MANUAL SUBJECT AND PURPOSE

This Manual contains instructions, which are necessary to use the following equipment:

EQUIPMENT N° 2 Walking Beam Furnace

REMARK: Instructions contained in this manual only refer to new supply equipment.

For clarity's sake, in different points of the manual, references to modified and/or

picked up existing parts are provided.

This manual provides the equipment user with pieces of information, which are necessary for

the use and maintenance of the equipment itself, in compliance with conditions set out by the

Directive 98/37/EC ("Machine Directive").

Before carrying out any operation on the equipment, the user has to read this manual very

carefully.

Any use of the machine according to modes, which are different from those specified in the

following, has to be considered improper and, consequently, the manufacturer accepts no

responsibility.

In case of doubts, contact TECHINT technical office

Observe and apply safety regulations mentioned in the manual.

The user is liable for safety during operations, which imply disassembly,

demolition for repair and/or adjustment, maintenance of panel equipments and

their partial or total replacement.

The manual has to be kept in a protected place, easily accessible for the user.

1.2 EQUIPMENT APPLICATION FIELD

The above mentioned plant, installed in an industrial shed, in a siderurgical environment, is

a furnaces for billets reheating.The plant, including the commercial parts, which are integral parts of it, can operate according

to features and data, which are specified in the technical data sheets mentioned in the following

pages and in the specific use instructions enclosed to this manual.

User's interventions on the plant are allowed only according to its competence and its related

training. The user, according to his competencies, has to know the plant operating mechanisms.

However, the Customer shall provide personal protective equipment for the operators and shall

inform the users about the allowed uses.

The Customer has to make sure that the users know all information and statements described

in the provided documents. Also with to the above-mentioned information and statements, the

operator has to be aware of the potential existing risks while he is operating with the plant.

The plant was designed and manufactured with mechanical and electric safety devices, which

protect the operator or the user against possible physical damages.

All operations, which are necessary to keep the plant efficient before or during its use, are

charged to the user.

AUTHORIZED MAINTENANCE CENTRES

There are no authorized maintenance centres for the plant ensemble and each request has to

be directly sent to TECHINT The functional reliability and the plant performance optimization

are guaranteed only if original spare parts are used. The user is the only responsible for any

plant modifications he carries out.

MANUAL PURPOSE

This manual was prepared to provide all plant users with the most complete and clearest pieces

of information, which are necessary for the installation, use and maintenance of the plant itself

until it is put out of operation and/or dismantled.

The appointed users, this manual is addressed to, are all people that, as far as their

competence is concerned, need or have to give instruction or operate on the plant.

The manual does not replace the experience and technical skills of the appointed

staff, but shall be considered a guide for the staff itself while carrying out its

functions.

The manual contains, in a descriptive form and complete with all illustrations at enclosure level,

all the information which is necessary for a correct interpretation and development of activities

provided for the plant management and maintenance.

The manual is for both furnaces, all drawings and description inserted in the manual are

relevant to furnace A (Wire rod mill) for furnace B (TMT bar mill) the drawings change from letter

A to letter B.

In the text are mentioned the norms and regulations that the manual user has to know to

MODIFICATIONS AND INTEGRATIONS

This manual reflects the state of the art when the plant, of which it is an integral part, comes to

the market.

Any modifications, improvements and adaptations carried out in plants, which come to the

market later, do not oblige TECHINT either to intervene in the previously supplied plant or to

consider the plant itself and the related manual insufficient or inadequate.

However, if it is believed it to be opportune and because of valid reasons, TECHINT. can

update the supplied manuals by sending to its customers the updating sheets, which shall be

included in the manual.

No part of the drawings and/or of the text can be reproduced

OPERATING STAFF

This manual contains pieces of information, which are necessary to use the plant in compliance

with the provided regulations. It is addressed to "Skilled personnel", who has a specific

preparation for this kind of plant. The manager of the company using this plant, before putting it

into production, shall train the personnel appointed to use it through the reading and the

studying of this manual and through a specific training on site.

The knowledge and the absolute observance, from a technical point of view, of danger

warnings and of "misuse notes" contained in this manual, are the prerequisite for the plant

carrying out, with minimum risky conditions, for its erection, commissioning, management and

maintenance. Only "Skilled personnel", as described above, may have the specific knowledge

to interpret correctly and put into practice, in the actual case, the danger warnings and "misuse

notes" described in this manual.

PLANT PROVIDED USE

The plant, which represents the subject of this manual, is an ensemble of equipment provided

for the heating of carbon steel billets.

PLANT NOT PROVIDED USE

The plant and the ensemble of equipment it consists of may not be used without and/or by

tampering with protections, electric blocks and/or installed safety devices.

Operators shall always work in safety conditions, even in case of malfunctions, failure and/or

emergency, with no accident risks and/or additional risks.
