EditorialThis month’s issue of the Canadian Gunner News is a bithefty. We have so much to celebrate as we acknowledgehonours and awards to worthy gunners and the milestoneanniversaries of regiments. And let’s not forget the valuableassistance provided by our troops to the victims of HurricaneDorian (locally known as Hurricane Donair). Once again, I encourage you to visit our Facebook page forall the up to the minute details provided by our variousregiments. Just click the Facebook link below my editorial. So, I’m going to let you dig into this lengthy issue and hope itkeeps you busy reading until our upcoming Annual GeneralMeeting (Oct 17-18). If you haven’t done so, please take amoment and register online at http://rca-arc.org. OurExecutive Director will be presenting his survey findings onour RCA-RCAA Website (preliminary remarks in thisnewsletter under Association News). Nous avons tellement de choses à célébrer lorsquenous reconnaissons les honneurs et récompenses décernésaux artilleurs dignes et les anniversaires importants de nosrégiments. Et n'oublions pas l'aide précieuse fournie par nostroupes aux victimes de l'ouragan Dorian (connu sous le nomd'Ouragan Donair).

The new RCA website was launched in December2018. We conducted our first website survey in lateAugust 2019.While the majority of respondents were very happywith the website, the level of response was very low,at only 17% of our readership. Thanks to those whotook the time to respond.Detailed survey results are in the attached slides.Of the 22 persons who indicated that they’d bewilling to assist with website maintenance, only onehas gotten in touch so far. The Government of Canada is planning an overseascommemorative program to mark the 75th anniversary ofthe Liberation of the Netherlands. An official Government ofCanada delegation will travel overseas from approximatelyMay 1 to May 10, 2020, to attend remembranceceremonies and events at a number of sites in theNetherlands. If you are aware of any Canadian Liberation of theNetherlands campaign Veterans who would be interested in joining theGovernment of Canada delegation, we would be pleased tohave you nominate them to represent our regimentalassociation.
Le gouvernement du Canada planifie un évènementcommémoratif à l'étranger afin de souligner le 75eanniversaire de la libération des Pays-Bas. Administered by the Office of the Governor General, this medalis part of the Canadian Honours System and celebrates exceptional volunteer achievements in a wide range of fields.His citation reads as follows:As National President of the NATO Veterans Organization of Canada, Randy Stowell advocates for the specific needs ofveterans and their families following military service and during the transition to civilian life. He also served as President of hisbranch of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he made a major contribution to make the building more accessible for all whouse the facilities.
