Botanica MarinaMarine plants, taken in a wide sense, include many different groups of algae butalso other plants. Marine botany includes the study of benthonic as well as planktonic forms, their systematics, distribution, ecology, physiology, biochemistry andso on.

The interest in these plants has increased much during the last years. One of thereasons may be that many algae are used as an important raw material for industrial purposes nowadays. The interest in the study of marine plants - from apurely scientific point ofview as well as from an economic and industrial one - hasbeen successfully manifested in Botanica Marina.

Botanica Marina fulfils the need for a special international periodical dealing withthe different fields of marine botany including marine microbiology and aspects ofutilization.
