    Annual City of Tampa Black History CelebrationEvent seeks to encour age and i nspire Tampa residents

    Tampa, Fla. (January 30, 2014)The 26thAnnual City of Tampa Black History Celebration will take place

    on Friday, February 14that 11 a.m. The celebrations theme is Determined to Make a Difference: Now andin the Future. The event hosted by City of Tampa Black History Committee, Inc. (COTBHC), will be heldat the Tampa Convention Center - Ballroom C, located at 333 South Franklin Street. This community-oriented event is free and open to the public. Parking is available for a fee in the Tampa Convention Center

    Garage.

    This cultural extravaganza seeks to encourage and inspire people throughout the Tampa Bay region tobecome their best selves. Throughout the celebration, exceptional people and organizations that exemplifythe concepts of self-determination and social empowerment will be recognized.

    Joining Mayor Bob Buckhornon the program will be Tampa City Council member Frank Reddick. The

    keynote address will be delivered by Gerald Honeywell, retired major from the Tampa Police Department.Multitalented recording artist Virginia Williams, new wave Gospel group, Zeal, and jazz saxophonist JarrydDollard will delight and entertain the audience throughout the celebration.

    Prior to the celebration, attendees will meet grass roots organizations, entrepreneurs, and corporate citizens

    that encourage social vitality and economic empowerment at the Black History Expo. The expo will begin at10:15 a.m. in Ballroom D of the Tampa Convention Center. Marcus Boothe, jazz saxophonist, will performduring the expo.

    The 26thAnnual City of Tampa Black History Celebration will be cablecast live on City of Tampa Television(CTTV). CTTV can be found on Bright House Networks Channel 615 and Channel 15 on Verizon FiOS.Refreshments will be served following the program.
