John Deere Tractors
On August 30, 1960, John Deere dealers from around the world converged on Dallas, Texas, for an unprecedented product showcase. Deere Day in Dallas, as the event was called, introduced the world to the New Generation of Power, the company’s first modern four and six cylinder tractors, during a day packed with high-tech presentations, live demonstrations, and of course a parking lot full of brand-new green and yellow machines. It was the most important change to the company’s products in 42 years. By 1966 Sales of the 4020 accounted for 48% of all John Deere tractor sales.

John Deere made their first unstyled row crop tractor in 1929 to compete with the Farmall. In 1933 John
Deere started experimenting with what would come to be known as the Model A. The new model A
went into production in 1934. The A was by far the most popular two-cylinder tractor that John Deere
produced. The next year, the Model B was introduced. It was one third smaller than the A which made
it ideal for smaller farms. A few years later, the Model G was introduced in 1937. It remained unstyled
for several more years than the A and B.
