HISTORY OF THE IVECO 8140 ENGINE

The 8140 engine was originally designed

by Iveco Motors in the 1970s. After

modification of the design to a 2.8L

engine in 1996, the Common Rail

version was launched in 1999. Since

then, thousands of engines have been

manufactured, with approximately

250,000 engines built per annum during

the peak years 2000 and 2002. The 8140

engine was installed in light commercial

vehicles such as the Iveco Daily, Fiat Ducato,

Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper, Renault Master,

Opel Movano and Nissan Interstar.

The 8140 engine is known as a remarkably

robust and reliable engine, ideal for

automotive applications, especially for

commercial vehicles.

The engine has been upgraded continuously

since the start of production. Today, the

8140.43 engine meets Euro 3 emission

standards, however, FPT offers to upgrade

it to Euro 4 compliance.

MANUFACTURING LICENSE

Interested parties can obtain a Product

License Agreement from FPT which has

title to the Intellectual Property Rights

of this engine. The License Agreement is

non exclusive and non transferable.

COMPONENT MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT

The equipment was installed 1978 and several lines

were partially upgraded in the 1980s and 1990s.

Meanwhile, all component manufacturing lines have

been dismantled and stored in the Foggia and Turin

plants. Photos of the lines in installed condition are

available upon request. Completeness and working

condition cannot be guaranteed.

OUTPUT CAPACITY

All component lines have capacity levels of 1.050

units/day on a 3 shift basis, except for the Cylinder

Head Line which has a capacity of 700 units/day.
