adding to it the descent to the sublunar world of divine wisdom (or divine reason), & perhaps

herewith rest.

The world as living, evolving organism. Yes, I saw that (in 3-74). But its psyche partially

irrational? & the demiurge (divine reason) “persuades” – i.e. subdues – it into order?

Then the demiurge (divine Noös) lies outside the universe.

So “world soul” = my “artifact,” & “demiurge” or “divine reason” = urgrund10. The

demiurge or urgrund is not the creator of the world. But merely finds it, & subdues by

persuading its irrationality (which in Plato is Ananke: chance, the not-rational). What does this

imply, that the world soul is either irrational or “part of it is irrational”?

Tuchē:

human foresight, purpose, motive, & Tuchē, unforeseen, non-human agencies, irruptions unto

the course of nature “divide the field between them.”

“A view of the universe in which this irruption of free human agency is tacitly assuming

is… illogical & it denies the possibility of similar irruptions into the course of nature by

non-human agencies.” –Cornford, agreement between Thucydides11 & Plato.

It is this disorder (chaos) of Ananke which shows up in my books (e.g. “UBIK”)12 as

entropy. Cornford says, “It’s always present being overruled by divine reason” (order). So it is

not just the decay of form; it is an element of the irrational: a destroyer of Eidos13, as I depicted

in “Maze”!!!14

Cornford specifically uses the term “overrule.” By divine order over Ananke – the wind

disclosed to me. (persuade = overrule – Cornford). Reason overrules Ananke.

What a fantastic cosmology: the universe is a living animal* whose soul (psyche?) is

either irrational or has an element of the irrational in it – identified with disorder & casual chance

happenings – & divine reason is overruling (or persuading or subduing) it as best it can. But it

(divine reason) lacks the power to compel!

*Constantly changing, like all living animals. So this disorder is always underlying – as a

constant – not prior to order but “under” it.

Is it possible to say that the universe-organism is insane or partly insane? & doesn’t this

fit in perfectly with the Gnostic revelation?

This disorder (irrational or partly so) organism has been penetrated by [divine] reason,

which can’t compel but must persuade – I intuit: through its omniscience (Sophia15). It outsmarts

the partly deranged organism.

This Timaeus cosmology perfectly fits my “James-James”16 dream! Natural processes

aren’t just blind – they’re nuts, & must be interfered with.

I was right! Zebra17 is extrinsic to this world -- & hence camouflages its presence here!

In 3-74 divine reason overruled the Ananke in me; this perfectly explains what happened.

My chance response to the Xerox Missive18 was overruled – & I felt of being overruled! I

experienced divine reason.

The artifact may not be the creator of the world, but relates to it as psyche to soma: i.e.

mind & body of a living creature: artifact psyche, world soma; but (v. Cornford) the psyche

(world soul) is irrational.

You ask, “How does reason persuade, overrule, etc. Ananke?” I can tell you: I,

personally, experienced it. Meanwhile, as Tuchē, it was (Noös) irrupting into history (of

Thucydides).

Plato would have been amazed to learn that 400 years after his death, divine Noös

(reason) was born incarnate – as the man Jesus – & that it’s going to happen again, at which time

divine reason will achieve total order & absolutely subdue the disorder (chaos) of the [partly]

irrational world soul (who we may know as the creator of this world).

Finally, for the first time, the component of disorder will be eliminated – i.e. the world

soul healed (made sane).

1) The “mad” God Dionysos19 probably is sane.

2) The irrational world soul (psyche of our animal universe) may be hallucinating his

madness, thus creation spurious, irreal20 worlds: this brings in the theme of my

writing: the irrational world soul imagines some parts of our world.

Hence my sense of it not being real – the “joined,” random messages & information (as

“Ubik”) are the visible & audible thoughts of divine reason,* the invader (Doctor) into this partly

irrational universe – organism or cybernetics-like. The organism, in contrast, does not think.

So divine wisdom – reason, the demiurge – does not create: it does what I saw it doing:

arranging (joining) what’s already there into a “good pattern (outcome). Beyond any doubt, this

divine arranger (organizer of what was disorder) is Plato’s demiurge or divine reason. An

artificer.

Certainly, then, in this sense it is true that God’s basic M.O. is to bring good out of evil.

The disordered, irrational, chance process is secretly & subtly rearranged, joined, to produce the

best possible –note: possible – outcome21. That is the whole secret of what Noös is doing with

this world. Its material which it works best with is that which is random: trash barely

thresholding22 in our world.

The irrational world soul is the ranting [[ranting may not be the right word, illegible]]

God of the O.T.23, whom we need not worship, as he has been replaced by Noös (Logos, wisdom,

Christ).

I have come to the reluctant conclusion that YHWH (the O.T. God) is the irrational world

soul – the irrational Ananke part -- & that Christ represents (is) divine reason, which view

conforms to Gnosticism. YHWH is not fully rational, but very powerful. He is capricious &

erratic – not constant (“James-james”).

Therefore I remain a Christian, but a totally Platonistic Christian, with all Jewish

elements rejected.

YHWH, as Runciman24 says in his book about the Manicheans25, “The Creator God, but

the wrong God to worship.” To worship him is to worship a terribly powerful erratic power

which must be subdued by divine reason (Noös or Sophia: Noös displays the quality of Sophia –

wisdom).

Hence Christ says, “Our ancestors ate manna in the wilderness & they are all dead. I

bring you the bread of eternal life,”26 i.e. what YHWH gives does not bestow immortality, in

contrast to what Christ offers.

The “Father,” Abba, to whom Jesus refers, is not YHWH, the world soul, but the

demiurge, the divine artisan. Christ has been sent here to rectify what YHWH has done, who is

out of control. But YHWH triumphs for, already, 2000 more years. Still, the “mustard seed” of

divine Noös has been planted here in stealth where YHWH can’t see it.

This is a dreadful conclusion to come to, but, based on Prof. Cornford’s analysis of

Timaeus it appears to be the logical conclusion, esp. of the Gnostic revelation, which I had, is

experienced as the eye-opening “blitz.”

The contest is between Sophia & caprice, & YHWH represents caprice – the blind &

random which Noös arranges into cosmos (order out of disorder). We must not listen to

YHWH’s raving threats – he is this which I saw.

We humans have a blocking agent preventing us from receiving – i.e. seeing – Zebra’s

informational constructs. It isn’t that we just don’t – we could but don’t. It’s not a mere failure;

it’s a block.

state, somehow lost in the distant past – laid on us by a malign agency, which “they” (Zebra)

is/are now removing. Zebra is Ubik – the perceptual alterations in Ubik (& to a lesser extent in

“Joint,”28 “3 Stigmata,”29 “Maze,”30 oh, & esp. in “Pot Healer”31) are precisely what “they”

(Zebra, the UFO entities) are [capable of] producing in us – e.g. in me, in 3-74. Reality is treated

as a neutral plastic receptacle of projected images which they can control by controlling us & our

percept systems. I think I’ve been under Ubik’s control for decades. All of the way back to

“Imposter.”

which are from Ubik.)

& what about Tagomi34 in the park with the piece of silver jewelry? Slight shift, & he is

In “Ubik” something (in someone) in initiating contact with them from the other side by

uncannily intruding in a one-way fashion into the “trash” level of their world, not in lofty (i.e.

spiritual) ways. It is even bombarding them, &, despite the ultimately sacred nature of it (of

Ubik) it continually (up until the very end) presents itself in cheap & debased ways – may I say

absurd ways, as in the ads?

& then there is the form-reversion axis, never before in all human history imaged or

described.

In “Stigmata” the intruder is evil; in “Ubik” benign; in “Maze” it’s themselves.

If Vallée is correct – that “they” are not ETIs36 & in essence they are manipulating our

perception of reality – then my novels & stories are important because they deal with reality as a

plastic multifaced matrix viewable from plural standpoints (all the way back to “Eye”). Unless

we grasp this we will now be able to handle what is being done to us.

So now I say, there was a reason they intervened in my particular life: because my writing is of

value vis-à-vis

then efforts to removes our occlusion, & emancipate us. It would seem from what Vallée says

that they are principally concerned with “softening” our brittle [sense of] reality.

Vallée considers the possibility that the experience is induced by microwave radiation &

by “pulsating colored lights.” Gee -- that’s what I saw: pulsating, colored lights for a certainty,

&, be inference, microwave energy.

I clearly identify the written messages I saw in 3-74 with the Ubik messages in “Ubik.”

But I posses a secret nowhere discussed: “they” know of latent (inhibited) meta circuits in

our brains, slumbering in anticipation of this time, & these circuits they deliberately disinhibit.

From this piece of knowledge much can be inferred about them, us, & their relationship to us

(“masters” of us). They must have placed these neural circuits there originally & then inhibited

them; otherwise how would they know about them & how to disinhibit them?

Burroughs in “The Ticket That Exploded”37 says of the Nova Mob parasites that as they

move from one human host to another they give themselves away (to the Nova police) by the

continuity of their habits, such as tastes in food (in Hamburger Mary’s case a taste for peanut

butter). This was exactly true about Thomas38. & I’ve subjectively felt myself as a female, a

womb into which something like an egg (fire bright) was deposited – like a cuckoo egg. Was

Thomas a saprophyte turned parasite, & deposited his “egg” in me? Does this mean that

Burroughs is either intentionally or unintentionally describing something which is true? & he’s

into those pasted-together subliminal messages, too.

K.W.39 has noted a resemblance between several things I’ve described & what Burroughs has

written – e.g. My Conviction that as a race or even planet we are “sick” – i.e. occluded

perceptually, & that a divine doctor-entity is restoring us—

Coincidence? Burroughs speaks of a virus – a word became a neural-cell virus, infecting

us.

After reading Burroughs, I dipped into “Ubik.” It certainly would be easy -- & reasonable

– for a reader to think that both Burroughs & I know something, & we want our novels to be

taken as at least partly true. They have a strange ring of [revealed] truth about them – I feel it

about his book, about mine – is, as Katherine Kurtz says, something writing through us!

Isn’t Palmer Eldritch a kind of parasite, replicating himself or itself using humans as

hosts? But my sense about Thomas was of a benign, not evil, intrusion. Still, it was an intrusion

into my psyche, a taking over. Are such intrusions always to be deplored?

Or was I beguiled? Didn’t it – he—get me out of trouble?

There is just no doubt of it: such passages in Burrough’s novel as the “Do it – do it –

neck” message within another message – words that weren’t originally there but are like the

inner trigrams of an I Ching hex. That is one absolute “triangulated” element with 1) “Ubik” &

2) what I saw in 3-74. Plus the parasite criminals & Nova cops, & the infecting virus.

The virus (of Burroughs) is an information (or word) virus, but in this sense: it blocks the

reception of information. So it is an anti-information virus. & then it substitutes false (homeo)

info (die messages inside your psyche) that replaces the Genuine information, auditory & visual.

Information-Blocking, as represented in “Maze” symbolically by the erasure of the

instruction tape. This tells us what kind of info is blocked: our instructions as to our purposes in

tasks: all that the term “instructions” imply. & somehow relatedly) we are not really where &

when we think we are. The “erased” instructions include needed accounts & full info as to where

we are, as well as what our job is. We are cut off from & not receiving verbal transmission. We

can no longer hear what we’re supposed to hear.

This can be collated with Julian Jaynes’40 theory of the Loss of the Voices of the Gods.

K.W. points out that our finding info in “random” arrangements – they may not be

random in the first place.

The visual part is in the color discrimination circuits which permit set/ground &

perception.

The auditory part is the “[[aging voice of Irwin]],” & depends upon a suppression

(suspension) of sub-vocal thinking – as Burroughs points out, over 10 seconds of inner silence is

impossible: inner chatter occurs. There is an inner racing, howling, clamoring bug, which

deliberately creates derogatory noise on the line at all times – a jamming, an override.

We can’t receive audio or visual information, it is jammed or cooked. So “Sit. Sophia”

(divine wisdom) must land behind enemy lines – within the prison, & inform us here, located

here with us, since its info is not getting through. Each of us has an override in him, & there

appears to be an override layer in the atmosphere. They could transmit to me only for a brief

interval: then slow the monitor within. But presently another one replaced it. So again I am cut

off.

They are at present diversifying their arrivals, feints within & among which the new

landing (2nd advent will be lost in the confusion of absurd raw data. Which among the fake

messages is the real one? “Garbage in, garbage out,” in terms of feeding data to our computers.

Random & bizarre & ubiquitous.

But primarily, as John Calvin41 said, the damage is to our brains, to our faculties. We

can’t see & we can’t hear. Restoration of our lost faculties signifies the end-time, & my faculties,

in 3-74, were restored. That this restoration could only be temporary shows why “St. Sophia”

must be incarnated in here again.

Bulgakov42: “1) The world, or cosmos, is an organic whole animated by a ‘world soul’ or

entelechy that is revealed in the structure, function, & connection of its parts… The world is God

as becoming, the divine nature fuses with nothingness. 2) Mediating between the absolute & the

cosmos, uniting them both within itself, is a “third being” – Sophia. The principle of divine

wisdom. As the world of Platonic Ideas, Sophia is the ideal basis of the cosmos; as the object of

divine love, purely receptive & conceiving everything within herself, as the womb of being,

Sophia is ‘eternal femininity’; as the principle of the divine within the created, she is the ‘world

divine hypostasis of many. (But I believe this is an error.)

But mainly as unifying – linking – entelechy between the nothing (cosmos) & Absolute

(God), even containing them both, She so to speak faces the absolute in one direction & us in the

other.

Something which contains God (as well as the universe)?

Plato (or rather Cornford) says of the world soul: “…it is not pure intelligence: being

united with a perceptible body, it may be imagined as having internal feelings… hence Plato

speaks of its discourse as always true, although it contains, besides rational understanding &

Now, it was revealed to me that St. Sophia incarnated herself as Jesus Christ. If she is

also the Platonic world soul, then the world soul incarnated itself here & will again.

The E.B.43 recounts a fascinating xtian myth that Christ entered the world in a humble human

servant form, “as bait” which Satan rose to, thinking that since this was just a man, he (Satan)

had power over him (Christ). It is not stated what Satan’s “Grasping” the bait (not knowing

Jesus’ heavenly origin) accomplished.

Also, “in the middle ages a further feature was added: the understanding of the devil as

the “ape of God,” who attempts to imitate God through spurious, malicious creations that he

interpolates for, or opposes to, the divine creations.” (p 480).

Here is a basis for my “much of reality isn’t truly real but is spurious” theme. Look how

perfectly “Stigmata” collates with this: irreal (spurious) creations are equated with evil or are

works of evil. These evil, spurious creations are inserted (interpolated) for – which means not in

addition to but instead of – true creations. “Interpolate” carries the connotation of 1) the false; 2)

that which does not properly belong there; 3) is foreign to think into which the act occurs.

At first I saw nothing important in this “Art of God” theology. Counterfeit of God’s

creation (more precisely, God’s act of creation. But from our standpoint it is the spuriousness of

the creation that is salient).

But how does this tie in with the “disguised Christ as bait” theme? The only way I can

discern a tie-in would be if the (this) world is one of Satan’s spurious creations – an idea which

seems in keeping with the fact of Satan’s presence & power when Christ came here.

So this is a counterfeit world, not just ruled by Satan but created by him; however, it is

not merely evil; it is irreal. Then, from the real world, the ruling intelligence (world soul, Logos)

He does not create a different separate world (bipolarized to the authentic one) but (as the E.B.

says) interpolates false sections. We can be sure that these are malignant interpolations (the E.B.

strictures them as malicious). Then our world is an admixture. This fits with my 3-74 experience.

True creation has been encroached on by a malicious spurious one. Thereby the developing

plan for God’s creation is impeded. So St. Sophia appears in a deliberately humble disguise to

act as “bait for Satan to grasp.” What Satan does is accuse him falsely, plot & carry out his

arrest, try him unfairly & finally executes him in a horribly painful & degrading way.

eternally] fail to identify God in his humble human form & hence terribly mistreat him?

1) It is a “core sampling” by the deity, a test to serve (by its results) as a basis for later

final judgment then – well, it is being acted out in all places at all times, & there aren’t very

many roles: the persecuted suffering servant – the evil ones plotting his destruction – i.e.those

who take advantage of his ostensible helplessness, & hence torment him, imagining impunity. In

this fashion all human get tested.

& the Christ-figures themselves don’t even know (just as the evil ones don’t know) their

true identity (amnesia). At least not until the very end. Perhaps prior to the cruel & calculating

harming of them they are not “avatars,” but become so only when, as in “Do Androids Dream44”

the first rock is thrown. What I am saying is that the road of suffering & being victimized &

accepting it is the road to becoming of the pluriform manifestations of Christ.

defend myself & hence their easy prey, which would permit them to imagine impunity; & 2)

when the trap did finally close in 3-74 – but having been long in the making – I became (sic)

But what did this accomplish? In some way it relates to Watergate & the downfall of so

many. Not that I accomplished it, though, perhaps God took core sampling, examined the results,

& on the basis of them judged & carried out sentence.

All this precisely coincides with the fundamental eschatological expectations, this whole

sequence. The First Advent –there was no pulling down of the oppressors (Rome).

But I was merely a stamped-out image of the Eidos Christ, not the Eidos itself. He is (or

Anyhow, in my case, they again fell for the bait. It was they who were trapped ultimately,

not me. Their nature was revealed. So was mine. It must be a major theme or element or purpose

of our world to act as a stage or ground in or on which this sheep-goat selecting can again &

again take place. Perhaps, in following this “disguise of bait” theme I have ferreted out the

reason for (purpose of) this world & our lives – all of us.

As to Satan’s spurious creations – I’ve perceived this for 27 years at least. But to grasp

the “humble bait” proffered “which when the ax falls metamorphoses unto a divine being from

another world, which is what it always was, disguised even to itself – wow.

So we have divinity secretly entering this world, is judged, & then unmasks (unveils) its

true self – even to its own surprise.

It’s like whichever bank it is which regularly (but in expected times) examiners (judges)

[[illegible]] & pose as [mere] customers, transact actual bank business with tellers –this is a very

good way of determining what the employees are really doing when they think themselves

unobserved.

This paradigm very likely fits the “humbly bait” concept & illuminates its goal: I think I

understand what is gained when Satan rises to the bait: he discloses his own presence & nature.

This fits in with the “When I was in prison you did not”…etc & “But Lord, we did not

know it was you” idea. & all this fits in with the theory (Burroughs’ included) that this world

contains evil entities wearing ordinary human semblances who must be detected if they are to be

eliminated.

Or maybe it’s the kind of test which accompanies the “teaching machine” model of the

world which I have a strong intuition about. “They” (the supernatural teachers) continually run

tests in this fashion to determine if we’re learning – i.e.how far up the ladder to perfection

(Christhood) each of us has gotten.

Then people like me are testers who come here sans memory & awareness of purpose, &

blend. That’s why I keep looking up at the stars; my memory had come back & I longed for my

real home. But in 3-74 I wasn’t passing a test [of God’s]; I was resuming my real identity to

escape from a trap. & it was those

who built the trap who were being tested. How could I be said to have passed a test? I was

overruled & commanded along the sole route of extrication without my own vocation. What

happened was that the initial roles of tester & tested were suddenly reversed.

This also fits my cosmology/cosmogony model:

This “humble bait disguise” fits better with my cosmology than it does with the Judeo-Christian

one. It seems unlikely that God would need to enter a world he himself created in order to

The artifact, the true creator of this world, has been/was misrepresenting the nature of his

creation – to God. Entry by God as Christ (in humble disguise) settles the question as to the true

nature of it, & exposes the artifact as a liar. It has come between man & God. But in 3-74 God

was able, through the mediatress St. Sophia, to colloquize directly with me; for a time we were

reunited, & what a joyful moment it was. So the artifact is being tested (& we know the results of

that test!) &, in print out replications, the test is repeated over & over – as many times as there

are people. No one escapes the test.

But (may I say it?) I am not here to be tested; I am one of the testers -- & God will judge

according to the treatment I receive. I could serve as “humble bait” for many people.

I think, thought, that my main purpose has been to expose the degree of spuriousness in

universe – but its very mind itself. No wonder I saw it (as Zebra) outside me: the physical world

is its body! No wonder Zebra could modulate caused processes & mimic natural objects: they are

its (her) body & the changes thereof. I saw that body as alive – which is correct.

So I saw reality correctly – as a vast living body - & I conversed with its mind (psyche?).

This identification of St. Sophia with the world soul absolutely accounts for & agrees with what I

saw & understood: the vast thinking, living, evolving animal with a rational intelligence. & that

mind (Holy wisdom) can “enter” its own body in microform! No wonder I thought of [it as]

Brahman.

Ah! Zebra is St. Sophia, the world-soul, already in microform, “invading” (penetrating)

its own macrobody. or – did I just see the animation of what we normally see as mere dead or

inert reality (matter)? Is what I saw how it always really is – with the world soul (as Plato says)

ubiquitous, from center to skin? Plato clearly states that the world soul permeates the entire body

(universe) equally – i.e. it has no one location (in contrast to the human mind being only in the

brain).

If the world soul entered its own body in microform (the first advent) & was killed (&

hated & humiliated) then it (she, he) would know that its soma had been partially taken over by

an insidious evil enemy foreign to it (her, him)! The analogy to cancer is evident. Or at the very

least it would know it has a deranged (or irrational? as Cornford puts it) part or circuit section!

Which it has been trying to fix. If all its parts (organs or circuits) were working properly , it (she,

he) would not have been “unacceptable” but would have been welcomed. The reasoning part of

the world soul is detecting its own component of irrationality, mentioned (deduced) by Cornford.

It (she) knows something is wrong. Self-repairing (total homeostasis).

circumstances) we can hear inwardly. The mind is female. Plato says, “Its discourse is always

vis this salvation, & the substitution of the benign real for the spurious malicious.

We are back again to the model of construct, repairman & deranged Circuit Board. The

messages intended for reception by the Circuit Board are not getting to it; specifically, the voice

(thoughts) of the mind of the [total] organism. “The kingdom of God” represents reintegration

into the total entelechy, in which the voice is again audible. To overcome the barrier created by

the derangement the microform came here, assessed the situation & was ejected. When it returns

it will not merely determine conditions, it will repair. The two mission (advents) have quite

different purposes. By the nature of the derangement, the mind had to come here personally to

I ask, what is achieved by elevating the concept of Sophia so much? 1) A feminine

hypostatization is achieved. 2) Wisdom is placed above power (omnipotence), so that we wind

which compels. The way is opened for a de-materialization of all reality, even God, the

Absolute, is subsumed by wisdom. & a female principle of wisdom at that. It’s a very beautiful

picture. Athena & Aphrodite combined, Demeter, [[illegible & illegible]].

This certainly fits my view of the universe expressed in my Vancouver speech.

The original Great Mother is reintroduced, finally – it took thousands of years & the

secret which was revealed to me that the God-side of Christ is female (i.e. Hagia Sophia47).

I can’t help recalling what W. Reich says about the humane quality of a society which is

devoted to a female deity vs. the harsh solar masculine deity. The presiding (animating) force of

our world is female. It also (she also) mediates between us & the Absolute (God). & whatever

we find in our world which is divine is “Sophia.”

But there is a chaotic element (Ananke) which divine wisdom must subdue, the blind but

powerful antagonist which is persuaded in such a way that it winds up serving the divine plan,

the structure of which it cannot predict, fathom or determine.

If St. Sophia 1) animates the universe; & 2) mediates between the cosmos & God, then

our experience of the divine would be of St. Sophia (or through). Perhaps, then, my experience

was authentic. Let us say that the Sophiologists are correct. What we will experience is Christ,

the Logos, but contained within him (so to speak) is the female figure of St. Sophia. The Great

Mother retreated out of sight behind the figure of Christ, & rules the cosmos invisibly. Yet she

disclosed herself to me:

1) the Sibyl (visually)

2) the female (or non-male) voice

3) the “St. Sophia” prophecy itself.

Then a great revelation has been made to me: the female hypostasis of God, which is

unknown in & to the whole modern world. It has been thousands of years since she was believed

in.

There is no doubt that the concepts “Hagia Sophia” & “the Logos” are identical – Philo48

taught that the Logos acted as intermediary between us & the unknown able God, which role is

ascribed to Hagia Sophia. & the Logos is readily equated with Christ.

2) if God is all-knowing, all-good & all-powerful, how can evil & suffering be

explained?

1) God is not all powerful

2) or He is not totally good

Starting with the existence of evil & suffering as premises, we must void at least one of the 3

total aspects of God does not in fact apply. It does not prove that no God

know that evil & suffering are real. To a lesser extent we can argue that some kind of God exists

(The E. of Ph article correctly dismisses all arguments about man’s fall, free will, evil as

lesser good, etc. The argument that suffering is only illusory it correctly dismisses as not even

being a real argument, inasmuch as only the problem is redefined (i.e. if evil is an illusion we are

under compulsion to suffer from it anyhow).

Plato’s “Timaeus” is cited as a “limited” dualism. From my knowledge of it I know that

in its cosmology the limited element is the power to compel, not the goodness or knowledge.

Good. This permits us to retain the qualities which we would most like to keep; viz:

1) it would be unspeakably terrible if God were omnipotent & omnipresent but not

good; or

2) equally terrible if he were all good & all powerful but stupid. The universe would not

only contain evil & suffering he didn’t desire, but, worse yet, there would be no

coherent plan or structure or purpose or goal.

Best to sacrifice omnipotence (since one must be sacrificed in view of the giver of evil &

suffering). We must content ourselves with the consolation that although he cannot prevent evil

& suffering he can “use” it – make it serve the plan through his omniscience & skill as artificer.

who Pinky50 was because I could discern him. & I knew that Pinky (Christ) had gone ahead of

me, first, to the other shore, as a sort of guide (psychopomp), to show that way. & I experienced

true evidence of his resurrection – beyond the 3:5 door.

But this is merely a piece of my total perception of the sacred space-time drama of 70

A.D. Rome. I actually penetrated to the Platonic Eidos, the final

military became the Romans; the police Jewish spies. Other people were potentially fellow secret

intervals as 4 years of linear time can be judged as really being only seconds. It is another kind of

time entirely, speeded up so that, as in stop action photography of sprouting seeds, furious

change rates shot by, with everything moving & melding, etc. I relived my way back up the 2000

years. From 70 A.D. to 1974 & saw all like flash cut film. &, within the blur of change, eternal

forms could be distinguished: that of the joyous preparations for His return.

As I read about & study authentic xtianity I gradually learned that what I experienced

wasn’t weird or strange at all, but, on the contrary, constituted the core experience of being a

xtian & being redeemed or born again or receiving (becoming) Christ. Only ignorance on my

part prevented me from understanding the transformation, the divine alchemy at work in me.

This does not prove that those who haven’t had my 3-74 experience are not true xtian; but

what is a certainty to me now, four years later, is that I “became” Christ, or, more accurately,

was absorbed into the cosmic Corpus Christi. It all happened in 1974 the way it happened almost

2000 years ago, to those of the early Church. I can’t determine, however, but suspect that (as

Luther said) there exists an authentic hidden, true Christian Church not the same as the above

ground ones.

So, because Christ suffered & died He is able to be present in & as every suffering &

dying creature, as well as leading them through the 3:5 door to their resurrection; it must be a

door in time. The only way he could join with them (us) was to have lived through the stages &

so laid down the template. Thus he saves each creature at the instant of greatest suffering: the

fusion begins with that suffering & ends with joy & release.

To discern – literally perceptually discern – the presence of Christ & the enactment of the

passion, discloses not one thing but two:

1) Christ is real & Christ is resurrected & is here; &

2) The person who literally sees Christ has been taken over the “Narrow Bridge” to the far

side, inasmuch for him the veil is lifted & the ledger closed.

So there is inner & outer synchronization: to see externally is to have been received into the

sacred world normally totally obscured by the mundane. Faith is no longer necessary & the

Judge has ruled on the case. All during his life the person was encountering his Lord countless

times in countless ways (incidents represented very clearly in Buckman’s encounter with the

black man at the gas station: the paradigm51).

Suddenly he understands. But it is too late now to rectify anything: the Judge has ruled & the

ledger is shut. That he did not know at the time, at all the times – he comprehends the nature of

the trial & testing, the winnowing process. It is now so clear, & previously he never guessed. He

It’s stressed, however, that in xtianity, in contrast to Indian Avatars, God descended &

became man only once, at a particular, unique time & place. Therefore, to witness Christ purely,

& not just the “reverberations,” one would have to travel backward in time & spatially to that

place: there are no plural avatars showing up in the many, several, all or a few places to enlighten

each country & age. The 1st Advent was unique. So, in order that it can be experienced, linear

time (& space, too) must be dissolved. This probably is accomplished through gene-pool

memory, or perhaps it’s simply a miracle: God wills it.

Actually, it’s analogous to the regression along the form-axes I described in “Ubik.” This

axis leads back ultimately to its rock-bottom stratum: the original time & place of Jesus. Which

is to say, buried within all the variation & evolution of any form lies the pristine & unadulterated

original form, regression from which is impossible. As Joe Chip52 thinks, “The man contains not

the boy but the former man.”

It’s interesting in “Ubik” that I seemed to think that the genuine, ultimate form lay in the

past, not the future. But re Christ, this is so.

Will Durant says that one of religion’s – any religion’s – prime function is “to explain

evil, & to find for men some scheme in which they may accept it, if not with Good cheer, then

with peace of mind – this is the task most religions have attempted to fulfill. Since the real

problem of life is not suffering but undeserved suffering…” etc.

The usual xtianity does not adequately do this – in fact this is where I think its greatest

failure lies: in trying to explain undeserved suffering. But the Hindu explanation (punishment for

deeds in a former life, &/or that suffering is illusory – this doesn’t satisfy me: not only does the

creature suffer, but he does not remember. This would be on OK explanation if it (karma) could

be proved, but it can’t.

What I see the most promise in is my extraordinary perceptual revelation – which I

actually saw in ’74 – is that when any creature is humiliated, rejected, killed, it is always Christ

who is mocked & murdered – the creature becomes Christ or Christ becomes the creature.

line of reasoning left open to me is this supernatural insight. Pinky was Christ because Pinky was

mocked, humiliated, kicked & killed. Whether, divining this, he remember his identity I do not

know. Bt either way the facts are the same; his becoming Christ due to & under those conditions,

is the archetypal situation.

But why is suffering necessary at all? Why is the road to deification (transmutation into

Christ) achieved in this terrible way? I turn, here, to Plato’s Timaeus & his concept of Ananke.

The good God does not have complete control of the universe; the universe is part (growingly)

cosmos with an irreducible chaos in the midst of it, at every level. All undeserved suffering

comes from this purposeless disorder, unable to compel Ananke to not torment a given organism,

the deity does the next best thing: he substitutes himself in a mysterious supernatural way for &

with the doomed organism.

To see or experience the literal real prisoner of the savior in the doomed sufferer is

perhaps to have penetrated to the heart of xtianity. I witnessed it myself; I know by divine

revelation & since Christ can & does become all living creatures (since all suffer undeservedly &

die) he, like Brahman, is ubiquitous (immanent) in the universe, moving toward a final

disclosure that the universe is only a form which God assumes, & that is ultimate

result of this so-to-speak self-inflicted (unknowingly) pain on its sentient parts is to restore to

those parts their memories & hence true identities. They awake, remember, know, & rejoin the

urgrund. (“Tat Tvam Asi53.”) So the unfair pressures of a unknowing causal – & casual –

universe reawaken the one sleeping mind in its pluriform. & so it encounters itself, who or what

has inflicted underserved pain or who or what? God as creator or God as Son, & the 3rd member

of the trinity, the Holy Spirit, is the agent which effects this “blitz” or catalyst of remembering.

The jolt remember lies in the very quality of the undeserved; puzzled & horrified by this

undeservedness, the organism must search for & must find not just an answer but the answer. It

becomes the sole key problem, & he knows that the key to everything lies in it. If he can grasp

the meaning of this he will possess all meaning.

I did not work out my “divine substitution” view theoretically – or a priori –; I saw it.

Lived it through revelation from the deity. I saw that suffering (undeserved) could not be avoided

(again Timaeus) , but I also saw the most beautiful & touching mystery of all: the brining into

being by this crushing process the Redeemer Himself.

If I forget or reject this revelation I will have exhausted all possibilities. I had only one

revelation, & only by revelation does the answer come

No amount of a priori reasoning of empirical observation (sans revelation initiated by God) will

do it. As Barth or Otto pointed out (v. Calvin) our reason is impaired; we cannot discern the

answer: God must tear away the veil for us.

Interestingly, the E.B. says of this perception of Christ’s presence “under the wrappings

of degradation & misery” in one’s fellow man that it is the great xtian mystical miracle, the great

understanding. It is not an aspect of xtianity: no! Christ is actually seen – seen as alive (risen) &

here with us, invisibly so until now at this moment in which the veil of illusion is torn away &

ontology replaces mere appearances. The viewer is restored to his Good Friend – & oh, the Love:

on Christ’s part for us (shown by his doing this over & over again, eternally & ubiquitously), &

our love for him, partly because we understand what has done, & partly because now through

anamnesis we remember what it was like when originally we had him with us. Before the

Temporary separation (because of his death).

Another aspect. If at the ultimate moment of our pain we remember who we are – well,

we (he) came back here voluntarily; we did, all of us, even though we had/have forgotten. This

makes more sense to me than saying we did something bad in a former life to deserve it.

& the reason why we returned, knowing what our fate here would be? I appeal to the

argument of God’s plan. It – our voluntary return – has to do with our knowledge of it & desire

to act out meaningful roles in

perform; some vast entelechy is taking final shape.

I saw “we,” but at the moment of anamnesis the “we” vanishes & only the “I” remains,

the total “I.” The deification of the mundane world: the holy manifesting itself in the trash of the

gutter.

This is the Kingdom of God -- & it becomes [perceived] here.

Then, too, I must remember the fate-breaking power of Christ, the freeing from “the

deterministic script.” Here Ananke would be regarded as necessity, even if Plato did not so

construe it.

Certainly the Greeks were aware of Destiny or Fate via Babylonia. & for sure the Graeco-

Roman mystery religions – xtianity – were. (Moira.)54

In connection with this I must bear in mind my decisive revelation about “they are

responsible for lower level decisions which can be overruled.” Maybe the solution is to conceive

of two levels: the lower random & deterministic, the upper sentient.

Also, there is a sacred or holy realm which intrudes on our mundane realm – esp. in the

form of assisting & guiding information, emanating obviously [[or obliviously]] from some

sentient entity such as the Logos. Since we normally receive these messages only subliminally,

we are not aware of how much, how well & how often we are helped.

So any description or measurement of the amount & kind of help we receive must contain

an x-factor.

What must be kept in mind about the presence of evil (undeserved suffering) is the

transcendent or external quality of God vis-à-vis a cursed world; God’s secret invisible

penetration into it, with the artifact as the creator, that God (Zebra) secretly subdues, modifies &

ameliorates our condition here in the form of an invasion of a prison to assist the prisoner from

outside. He breaks the chains of slavery & sickness & suffering 7 even finally death. By this

two-way amalgam, so that he is with us, taking the blow with & for us, becoming us & we him.

This transubstantiation of our world by his magic. It is always the Savior who is slain, but the

Savior is ubiquitous (& immortal) & survives. It is not a limit to his potency but rather that the

salvific work is only partly achieved. What must be accepted is the doomed & blighted quality of

this world inasmuch as the artifact did an imperfect job of creation & left a great deal of chaos –

also, rigid mechanical determinism (Ananke) prevails, which God interrupts where possible: if

not possible, he accepts the blow with or for the creature. But this world as such is fremd55 (to us

& to the God who, as Christ, is isomorphic to us).

Meanwhile, the world being in this painful disordered deterministic state, God leads &

coaches us, & also evaluates (judges us as to how well we deal with the unfair conditions. But

his antagonist is the artifact, not us; we are its victims.

What the 1st advent achieved was to place God physically here, so that he could stand as

surrogate for us in our misery & deaths, & also break the causal “script” hold over us. It was the

start of a total, invisible penetration to break the prison wall. In this context there is what the E.B.

calls faster& faster “blow & counter blow” between God & the artifact.

But suppose the whole concept of God is jettisoned, & the Noös is regarded as that of the

living evolving entelechy which presents itself to us as the universe. This Noös – or psyche – is

St. Sophia. It is in process, assimilating disorder & placing it in order – i.e. as part of its structure

it is building itself out of the “stockpile” of the past which I saw, moving through sequential

transformations. Christ is a microform of this world soul, come to this part (“Circuit Board”)

because communication has broken down & this section is operating with counterproductive

autonomy – a sort of cancer. Actually, it is a dying part; St. Sophia comes here to restore to its

cells (us) the eternal life which is that of the total entelechy.

Thus, locally, a metastasizing irreality is proliferating which is insane vis-à-vis the

totality which St. Sophia as Christ speaks as & for, restoring to us our memories, hence identities

& knowledge of purpose, &, finally, non occluded eternal life.

Above St. Sophia, the psyche of the universe, stands the creator of the universe, but

above him nothing can be said. As we are to St. Sophia, she is to the creator. Thus she stands as

mediatress between man & God. We can never know God except through her. She operates in

time, he does not.

The “Ape of God” theory comes in here: the spirit of the insane Circuit Board

interpolates spurious creators for the real me. It must be killed. We are infected by it like by the

plague. Either an organic or cybernetic model will do: Christ as doctor or repairman, vis-à-vis us.

But intrinsically much more: the psyche of the universe.

The God of the O.T. is the vox spiriti if this deranged Circuit Board. He is deranged, & he

lives both outside & inside us. Thus we too are deranged & occluded &, without the help of the

savior, doomed to pain & death. The savior replaces us at the moment we are sacrificed, & is

sacrificed himself: he becomes me & I becomes him at that moment. *(3-74 for me.) In this

actual literal sense he dies as sacrifice for all of us.

With St. Sophia we are not dealing with anything extrinsic to the universe; also, in a

certain real sense, we are not dealing with the supernatural if (as Plato et al. believed) the

universe is a living animal & it does have a psyche, & in hearing the voice of St. Sophia we are

hearing the thoughts of this vast psyche which extends everywhere (as Xenophanes56 put forth).

We are dealing with something which, when the deranged Circuit Board is repaired (& even

before!) can & will be the subject of rational, scientific knowledge, not mere (sic) faith or mere

(sic) revelation.

A revelation now of St. Sophia’s voice – & projected visual image – is a temporary

restoration of what should have been (& once was) normal, at all times. It is not (1) beyond the

cosmos; nor (2) part of the cosmos: it is the cosmos. Spinoza57 would probably agree with this,

except: there are levels of action: a lower level mere cause-&-effect, operating on its own (as

Anaxagoras perceived, & is related to Spinoza’s view of the closed system). But these lower

level responsibilities & decisions can be overruled by the total psyche, or at least some higher

order which frees (enters orthogonally & aborts, modulates or deflects, etc.). This is a treating of

our Circuit Board as Ananke, & the intervention as Noös, since the lower order decisions are

“blind” (i.e. lacking teleological propose). It is the difference between efficient & final cause, &

the reasons therefore. I sense an “appeal” hierarchy, as with courts of law.

The “bait” theory.

1) God enters the world disguised as a mild ordinary good man. (Jesus)

2) Satan, not recognizing Jesus for who he is, has him arrested, humiliated & killed.

3) Several days later the empty tomb & he statements of the two “men in white” (i.e.

angels) reveals what Christ took such pains to conceal: the he is God or the Son of

God, etc.

Q: What is the effect on Satan at learning this? If Christ’s missions was merely to take a

core sampling” of the world, step (3) would have been unnecessary. Has Satan become any less

evil? Anyhow, his evil was already known to God & Christ.

Speculation: the purpose was to show Satan that God could penetrate his (Satan’s) world

at will without Satan ever knowing (until told later, retrospectively).

Speculation: this world was a spurious creation of Satan’s in the first place. God entering

it would exchange the spurious for the real (note that the Ionians such as Parmenides58 has

reasons a priori that what we see empirically simply cannot be what is actually there – & upon

this, philosophy was born).

Speculation: any victim could be God in disguise; all victims could be God in disguise

(once the principle had been established).

Speculation: God’s coming here in disguise foretold his arrival not in disguise but in full

force. This 2nd coming could take place any moment. So Satan, as a countermove to (4), the

imminent return of God, this time openly, generated a massive spurious time ballooning out, so

that it appears to us (falsely) that 100s even 1000s of years have passed since the first Advent.

Therefore despite what we see, it is not 1970+ but c. AD 70. Augustine & the other

patristic fathers were fooled (i.e. occluded & deluded). What they did not realize was that the

world (empirical, phenomenal world) was irreal in the first place. All Satan (the artifact in my

system) had to do was spin it out, pay it out, temporarily – I mean along the linear time axis.

Qualitatively, it was no different than what he already had been doing. This was Satan’s

countermove. & it has worked very well. Only the true, secret, underground xtian church knows

Speculation based on observation: God returns as victim each time, whenever &

wherever there is a victim, we are unknowingly stuck in an infinitely long time run, spun out to

deceive us; Satan cannot delay the 2nd coming but he can cause us to misperceive & believe it is

long in coming – so long, in fact, that we cease to watch for it. Because of Satan’s wiles we have

fallen asleep, & missed it.

Actually, we are all (animals included) sleeping polyforms of God suffering from

amnesia. God has thoroughly – in fact complete – penetrated & pervaded this spurious world,

substituting the real thing for the fake. One by one he will open our eyes, & we will see that it is

really apostolic times – not later, when our occlusion is removed (by God) we will see the world

as it really is, & understand that we are immortal. But only through absolute faith in Christ can

this be accomplished.

By grasping the “bait” the evil power showed that it could not identity its own creator.

The evil power therefore knows that it will never be able

convince me that the penetration & replacement is enormous. I saw what evil (blind &

Speculation: I was bait, & not what the evil power thought, nor what even I thought.

This implies that my override handling of the Xerox Missive did crucial harm to the evil

power – in addition to saving me. I lured something evil into the open, & then “Thomas,” using

me, did in something or someone who was a crucial link in some evil chain of action. But it’s not

important that I know what; I served my purpose, & was amply rewarded for the dreadful years

that preceded their grasping me, the bait.

Me as bait had to do specifically with something in “Tears.” But what was in “Tears”? I

certainly know: unmistakable material from Acts. Well, Acts is the part of the Bible which

describes the early apostolic-age church just after Christ leaves. & this is the precise time &

place (Roman Empire c. 70 AD) which I was shown, in the same month the novel came out, that

it (not 19070+) is where & when we really are. So “the right persons” reading “Tears” would

think – because they know it is the case – that I knew the truth when I wrote the novel. Hence the

Xerox Missive. I smoked out (I intuit) a network or group which knew the truth – but were

suppressing it. Hence (as I intuited at the time) I was in very real danger. I appeared to have

penetrated the artifact’s secret & reached

exactly what I set out to reach in “Tears”; no longer asking, “What is reality?” but rather saying

what it is. &, as internal evidence in “Tears” indicates, it’s Rome c. AD 70.

I have always believed that the cipher the US intelligence people suspected was in

“Tears” was in fact not there. But maybe it was; maybe the “we are prisoners of ancient Rome &

God is coming to rescue us” (the dream) was what they 1) knew to be true; & 2) suspected might

be in the novel.

Then “Tears” has in it at least one disinhibiting stimulus. Undoubtedly the dream

sequence joined with the command “Felix” plus the scene in the all night gas station with the

black man.59

The latent (true) message (subliminal) is that we’re living in Roman times & the savior

will very soon return. Undoubtedly the message in “Tears” is only one part of a total message

woven into many books, TV, & rock music. But the message in “tears” is about where & when

we are, & what our actual situation is (prisoners), & that help is close by. The apocalyptic

prophecies will be fulfilled. The savior has already deeply penetrated this world on his 1st role: as

surrogate victim. Soon he will return as Judge & King. All this is in “Tears.”

I intuit, then, that the Xerox thing was a forgery, & not from the Party.60 Too tired to spell

it out, but once again, as before, I am positive.

Whoever sent the Xerox Missive did not want the [[tegengraphic?]] truth in “Tears” to be

told. It is a lethal thing to know. But “Tears” was cooked. I didn’t know it, & I didn’t write it.

My novel was penetrated by the divine & used as a vehicle to tell the basic

month that “Tears” was released – without any possibility of destroying all the copies – I was

shown the truth, & finally was able (with Father Rasch’s help) to link what I saw with “Tears.”

“God became man so that man could become God.” This is accomplished (the latter) by

way thrust of personality. Suddenly the time & place is Rome c. AD 70. Suddenly the person, the

man, is not himself; he – the “I” in him is another “I.” A miracle & a mystery has unfolded. The

agent of this exchange is the Holy Spirit, correctly regarded as the discorporate Spirit of the Lord

(Jesus Christ). Has it become the person, or has the person become it? Mystery. But in any case,

it now is in command, & receives the blow (in my case the Xerox missive). But victory, not

suffering, makes the return of Christ, which is what this is: not Christ crucified but the victorious

Christ who has triumphed over death, who cannot be killed. Joy is the hallmark. He did not come

back to die again; what dies is the “old man” in the person-man. That which is there now bears

no relationship to his personal history, his “beginnings.”

At this point in the life cycle of the divine entity, it has reached the triumphant goal.

Earlier, the human endures the passion (defect) but suddenly there is, at the very heart of it,

the divine) is (as I know through experience of it) accomplished through the abolition of process

(linear) time & space, & a penetrating to the externally-enacted [[ur]]-drama. This is xtian

anamnesis, a remembering of identity. Through this, we are him, not like but are. Mundane time

gives way to sacred time in which the original ordeal is not re-enacted but perpetually enacted; it

I’ve found an error in Cornford’s reasoning about Ananke as being not determinism as

we understand it, but more a mere casual, errant chance. He forgets that from Babylon & its

astronomical & astrological preoccupations the Mid East ancient world had a clear idea of fixed

outcome (fate or destiny). The process by which this outcome is reached may not have been

comprehended as scientific cause-&-effect law. But the fundamental concept of determinism was

there. This comes up with the notion of the God who intervenes & extricates a person from his

astral fate, in which case the intervening God is similar to Plato’s Noös or reason & astral fate

Ananke.

My own 3-74 experience disclosed to me an extrication from a rigid determinism the

source & nature of which I can’t fathom & which defies all modern theory except perhaps DNA

engramming theory. If DNA is ancestral drives acting themselves out with you as a vehicle (at

their mercy) then isn’t Thomas a summa form of ancestral determinism? Or maybe he is not.

In any case, what we seem to have is a template that imprisons us – the concept of

template exists, only not emanating from the stars. Also, they were right that a God exists who

What may be the case is that some or most religions explain undeserved suffering, &

offer spiritual comfort – but the purpose of the mystery religions was to put in touch with a God

who could & would intervene & change the person’s life so that the fate-decreed suffering (in

particular what I would call nemesis or the cardinal crisis & defeat) was averted. Xtianity, I

contend, was one of these religions. But I believe that it had this advantage over all the others:

Christ could enter a syzygy with the person & absorb the blow vicariously. & so in this way

spare him the suffering, as well as the method of deflecting of the life-path. In both types of help

deflection of the evil moment is involved: the victim is taken out [temporarily?] & Christ joins

with him or replaces him.

So here are at least 2 ways of warding off the crisis blow, & xtianity had the ability to do

both. Only in this sense does the “vicarious atonement,” the random, make sense: it was the

substrate of the system to liberate the persons – from the template, an invisible evil enslaving

power of which we are unaware.

Salvation means exactly what it implies: a saving the person from the power of evil. It

initial error in secular thought is to be occluded to the presence & mastery of this evil power; this

sentience; or (2) a vitiation of our reason (faculties) to such a debased & deformed state that we

cannot detect its animations or sentience, inc. evolution & purpose as entelechy unfolding. We

are disenfranchised as knowing parts (cells) of the whole.

What I suspect is that Zebra is imparting all these to what was originally disordered &

inanimate, as a divine intruder, which points to our world as a Satanic spurious creation

mimicking the real (of “Stigmata”). Does Zebra not abolish the counterfeit interpolations but

rather transmute them?

Included in the sentience of the universe is its verbal communication with us, which may

not be communications with us at all but physical manifestations & its thoughts – in which case

it is Noös, not Psyche & Some. The “Soma” expresses audibly & visually the organism’s thought

processes because the “Soma” is its thought processes, perhaps materializing everywhere & at

every level, of complexity & size.

Or – Zebra is a verbal organism, the living Logos which pervades the previously inert

This would be the first cherished emanation or offspring, the holy wisdom of Prov. 863,

but if St. Sophia participates in the creation of the cosmos, & preceded it, then she as world soul

is essentially incarnated (born?) in the coming-into-being of the universe. There is not pantheism

or panentheism, since God is not in any sense the universe or it him. But a panpsychism is

involved (Hylozoism64). The world soul would stand as mediatress between us & God.

The assumption that the world soul (Psyche) stretches from “skin to center” of the

universe –obviously based on Xenophanes & Parmenides – may not be an eternal static state but

a dynamic “persuasion” or “subduing” of chaos. In any case that world soul (St. Sophia) is here

now, &, as for as far as we’re concerned, ubiquitous. That it has

constant. Again, to draw from Cornford, there is a streak or element of the irrational in the world

soul. Noös descends into these obscure irrational regions to arrange them into harmony. The

universe is fighting for its sanity. It has not been entirely successful (just as in any given human

mind there are irrational tendencies, or areas). Perhaps the world soul has an unconscious, & we

are part of it. What it “she” is trying to do is raise us to the level of consciousness, which would

mean consciousness of her. Thus communication would be re-established. & thus we are said to

be asleep. Is it true that once we were not asleep, & fell (asleep)?

For a long time I oscillated between thinking it was God who spoke to me or else it was

ETIs. Evidently it was neither, but rather an intermediate entity between God & man. If this

entity is the Logos, the Trinitarian doctrine is wrong, despite John 1:165. There certainly can be

no theoretical objection to this. If the universe is a sentient organism, & in addition there is a

transcendent God who created it, then quite clearly its mind or soul would stand as mediatress

between man & God, & if there is not God then we still would be in touch with the organism’s

mind. The question is, where is the insanity? If irrationality = insanity, & Plato & Cornford are

correct, it does not tie with the creator (of Gnosticism) but with the creator world soul. The

Gnostics trace it to the creator (evil & undeserved suffering) but they are not taking into account

the living, organic entelechy-nature which could involve contradictions within itself, not due to

its creator. It would so to speak have free will. Thus indeed all creation could fall with man’s

fall, as Paul maintains (otherwise, how could man’s fall cause the cosmos to fall?) But does this

mean that the world soul fell -- & does this mean a fall into irrationality &/or unconsciousness?

Suppose it is maintained (as with the Gnostics) that is was not man which fell but his

“distant cousin from the Pleroma66, (Sophia), & this fall is what Cornford discerns in Plato’s

world soul as irrational. Suppose such an event as St. Sophia addressing me is not an instant of

something which has always occurred or at least always been possible. But that the world soul

(like Brahman) is “waking up” – again becoming conscious & able to think – & speak –

rationally.

Who even before has report St. Sophia speaking to them? Only in Biblical times. What

it/she said to me seems to parallel what the shepherds were told at the time Christ was born; i.e.

an unprecedented even in human history was about to – beginning to – take shape.

Then “St. Sophia will be born again…” etc. refers to a total rebirth of the cosmos into

sentience – lucidity – an exact parallel to “Brahman sleep, the Brahman dances,” with the notion

that the universe is a form which Brahman takes, assumes, is, or poses as.

I have a very strong intuition at this point that the above reasoning points to me (dare I

say it?) as a kingpin human in a cosmological drama of reawakening. The macro-entity awakens

(to lucidity?) & then on our world in micro-form – & perhaps on many other worlds – it prepares

to once again incarnate, then its announcement to me carries the weight & force of revelation,

described in the Bible, esp. the N.T. Is it connected with the insertion in Deus Irae67? The novel

is selling in an awful lot of countries to an awful lot of people.

At that time (N.T.) it was the role of John the Baptist to announce the coming of the

messiah. He thus was Elijah, which for a long time I believed Thomas to be.

reweaving of empirical reality that I saw – such activity must emanate from a very high level.

Perhaps the highest levels possible. Inasmuch as a historical reweaving was afoot, there is no

way by which I can estimate the extent of the reweaving (or how often it happens).

The sense of Zebra as invading & mimicking may stem from its higher nature – higher

than blind determinism. It may even have been bipolarized with causal chains, offering a

dialectical interaction. What I am sure of is that it brought something new (sui genesis69) into

history at variance with the efficient-cause direction. Was it just an override? Or a true invader?

How real are the normal causal chains? They seemed to melt & bend in Zebra’s grip (field). This

all is a description of a miracle, correctly interpreted as most meaningful in its pointing to an

overruling power, which by definition has to be intelligent, powerful, & benign beyond the

degree we humans embody. At the very least, it pointed to (or was) “another & higher life form

or intelligence in the universe besides ourselves” – & one either depending on our occlusion to

would be vital to know if the occlusion is only a failure to perceive or if some kind of barrier or

If a higher life form lives in our vicinity undetected, there is no immediate answer as to

its origin, let alone its nature. My perception of it is that by the way in which it “melted” or

“bent” empirical reality it disclosed the merely-projected quality of that reality. Had that reality

been intrinsically truly substantial it would not have yielded as it did to what appeared to be a

kind of [[ergic ?]] pressure. Reality I am. It was subject to manipulation or my perception of it

was subject to manipulation, or: the two are the same. It melted me & simultaneously what I saw

& heard melted. But there was no hallucinations-like quality to it. I had the sense that enormous

energy was expended. Deflection was minimal & skillful & revealed great wisdom. It melted

only what it had to melt.

Perhaps one clue that I’m overlooking is the 3:5 doorway: perhaps it indicated that Zebra

entered this world from another world (whatever that might mean). The impression I got of it

was a past continuum of our world. It had shortcut 2500 years by some kind of direct route. The

3-eyed people indicated time travel, or, more accurately, the nullification of linear time as

essentially spurious (this revealingly dovetails with my sudden sense of it being really Rome c.

AD 70 & not 1974 Calif.

Okay – I’ll go so far as to say that AD 1974 Calif. is a fraudulent “echosphere” & that in

reality its Rome c. AD 70, & that some life form or human group knows this & is free of (not

controlled by) this interpolation: they or it know & see what we don’t know & see. We are to it

or them as the inertials in cold-pac are to Runciter, who is fully alive (i.e. awake)70. Just because

we are compelled to accept this spurious interpolation doesn’t mean everyone else is.

Like the characters in “Maze,” “Ubik” & “Stigmata,” & esp. in “Eye” we are living in

ersatz time; subjectively, for us, years, centuries pass, but in actuality little if any time has passed

in our last 2000 years.

Perhaps it isn’t just us who sleep, but the cosmic animal in toto71. But section by section it

is returning to (or achieving finally) consciousness: hence awareness of its true condition. When

Christ left, the organism fell asleep. His return is connected (in some way) with it waking up. It

into a sleeping mind. Fake time (& reality, Dukus72, the counterfeit, the imitation) replaced the

real & just spun itself out like sensory hallucinations during sense-deprivation: generated by low

association thinking. Then it would be totally entropic, running gradually down – degenerating,

but not slowing down in terms of real time; rather, it just discharges itself faster & faster into a

vacuum, that of time as receptacle of being.

The Gold Fish caused me to remember (the real world) by suddenly waking me up; or,

the jolt of returned memory suddenly woke me to reality & abolished the dream (2-74). At once,

the spurious, the dream, reasserted itself but the “harm” was done – down deep inside me I knew.

It was just a question of time before the inexorable power of knowledge (consciousness)

pushes the dream world, the spurious farther & farther back, uncovering, finally, on a literally

perceptual & cognitive level, unclouded perception of the real (Rome AD 70) world in which the

Savior had just left & would soon return, & we were joyously preparing to greet his return

(which, it occurs to me) fits in absolutely with the “St. Sophia” prophecy. It is no more than a

me back to Cornford’s deduction that Plato is saying there is in the world soul something

irrational. Is it possible that this irrational element gives rise to (as in “Time Slip”) to

spurious sub-world lacking true substance? Is it not in the very nature of & essence

irrationality to perceive – read generate – false realities?

This “spurious interpolations” may be “noise” from a faulty circuit, the artifice of the

fucked up, but sincere, part of the universe’s psyche.

This is especially possible in the world as Noös system of Xenophanes. What if the Noös

has a few cogs missing – isn’t playing with a full deck? In that case it may sporadically

create paradoxes, illusions & competing, & inconsistent realities as it reverses itself – a form

of disorder. But – this leads to dreadful spinoffs, as in “Faith of.” Perhaps the voice of St.

Sophia indicates a return to lucidity.

One of the greatest errors I made was to assess a theophany as indication of immanent

of the total physical reality animated – a localized intrusion? No, I don’t think so, inasmuch as

the transformation of the perceived seemed to stem from a transformation in the perceiver (i.e.

me – after all, Tess saw nothing different) – so it was an altered perception on my part (or a half-

&-half, so that unless the perceiver changed, the empirical was not seen as alive).

An equation between observer & observed: a homogeneity of mutual interaction: I, being

more animate, found myself in an animate world. Then the Godhead was as much in me as

outside me – equally so, in fact, U & the world around me became a single continuum which

Zebra animated equally. In comparison with this animation, I was, in my normal state, virtually

as dead as the reality around me. The customary bipolarization of living perceiver & the external

reality was abolished. & it was not a matter of lives plural but of the one (life) – that is terribly

important to realize: the living I & the living external world were animated by the same mind!

This is really the basis of the transmutation, this theolepsy/theophany poured into me &

the world as a single continuum. The organism-like quality 0 with me included – was palpable.

&, since it was in me as well as outside me, I could hear its thoughts. Now, as to its melting of

the rigidly causal, Was it melting its own self? Or was it infusing was prior to the experience was

not infused? I offer myself as paradigm: I at least, was newly infused, so is it not likely that the

external reality was newly infused? This points to a descended transcendent deity operating in

what had formerly been a mere “low level” causal (i.e. mechanical & blind) world. This points

completely away from panpsychism & immanent deity, & toward the “light came down from

above & shone into the darkness.”

There was a tremendous “amping up” in me, which is all I can be positive of, but if my

presumption of a common continuum is correct, the animating life seized the reality around me

& modulated it as well. We are speaking here of a life-form so exacted that to it I & objects

presented no real distinction except perhaps one of degree. It brought a higher level of life to me,

& it brought life to the inert, the dead [things] so in effect we are speaking about the bestower of

life per se: it can animate even stones. But it does not bestow an individual life to each thing; all

things are interwoven to form the vast universe-living-organism.

As always, I can’t help thinking that what I underwent & perceived was the pristine,

primordial state of man & the world before the Fall. Animation dropped to a low ebb which left

us only partly alive & the universe dead. The vast animal sank into madness, & illness (vitiation)

as well, much of that which animated it withdraws. Thus it is said that with man the cosmos itself

fell. Our fate is interwoven with it & its fate; also, man because something much more powerful

(called Lucifer & his host) fell. So renewed life must be restored to the total cosmos, & man as a

part of that cosmos.

NO full, adequate appreciation of the disastrous magnitude of the fall can be entertained

unless it is viewed as a fall (drop in potency) of the entelechy which comprises the entire

creation. This is why, although we may object to the lack of justice involved, it is nonetheless

factually there that at the primordial fall we all fell, even now, so much later. Now add to this

injured condition of the entelechy a continued malignant working of the evil one. “Blow &

counter blow coming faster & faster as Satan’s time runs out,” as the E.B. puts it. The organism

theme of the crisis in the Godhead, the God & not-God, &, as Cornford says, the element of the

irrational in the world soul. Part of the organism has ceased to respond to the organism’s mind &

has become – or remains – disorder (which equals a kind of cancerous madness in which

spurious evil realities, counterfeit, are interpolated for the real thing.

My novels picture the universe as being me, in which the true life-bestowing power has

receded even more than we generally experience – but it is only (in such novels as “Stigmata” &

“Ubik”) a matter of degree. There is nothing in the writing which is not with us to some extent.

“Stigmata” & “Ubik” need to be collated for the full message to appear: the evil creator of the

counterfeit (Palmer Eldritch) appears in “Stigmata” & the heat-giving-life-giving bipolarization

(Ubik) appears in “Ubik.” But the collation seems to say, this, our world, is largely counterfeit,

with Ubik thrusting into it from “the other side.”

i d. Deus Absconditus – The Hidden God

Another fundamental aspect of Luther’s theology is his understanding of God. In rejecting much of scholastic thought Luther rejected the scholastic belief in continuity between revelation and perception. Luther notes that revelation must be indirect and concealed. Luther’s theology is based in the Word of God (thus his phrase sola scriptura – scripture alone) it is based not in speculation or philosophical principles, but in revelation.

Because of humanity’s fallen condition, one can neither understand the redemptive word nor can one see God face to face. Here Luther’s exposition on number twenty of his Heidelberg Disputation is important. It is an allusion to Exodus 33, where Moses seeks to see the Glory of the Lord but instead sees only the backside. No one can see God face to face and live, so God reveals himself on the backside, that is to say, where it seems he should not be. For Luther this meant in the human nature of Christ, in his weakness, his suffering, and his foolishness.

Thus revelation is seen in the suffering of Christ rather than in moral activity or created order and is addressed to faith. The Deus Absconditus is actually quite simple. It is a rejection of philosophy as the starting point for theology. Why? Because if one begins with philosophical categories for God one begins with the attributes of God: i.e., omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, impassible, etc. For Luther, it was impossible to begin there and by using syllogisms or other logical means to end up with a God who suffers on the cross on behalf of humanity. It simply does not work. The God revealed in and through the cross is not the God of philosophy but the God of revelation. Only faith can understand and appreciate this, logic and reason – to quote St. Paul become a stumbling block to belief instead of a helpmate.
