Mass Count: During the month of May there will be a count of those attending masses in our 3 communities.

Trinity Refugee Outreach (TRO) have decided to support the work of BASP. WHAT IS THE ‘BRIGIDINE ASYLUM SEEKERS PROJECT (BASP)?’

It is an initiative sponsored by the Brigidine Sisters. They engage with the issues of our time, stand in solidarity with those who are oppressed, and seek to build a more inclusive community. Their motto is: STRENGTH AND KINDNESS. BASP focus on practical assistance for people seeking asylum in Victoria. They offer advocacy and raise awareness of the issues asylum seekers face. As BASP does not receive or seek government funding, they welcome financial support, goods and practical assistance. Trinity Refugee Outreach recommends that our communities support BASP by providing practical assistance, working as a volunteer, fund-raising and actively networking with them.

To support the work of BASP, Trinity Refugee Outreach is hosting a soup & roll luncheon

to raise funds to send as a financial donation.

This will be held on Sunday, 5th June in the McKenna Centre at St Peters at 12pm.

Each person attending is asked to give a monetary donation.

Please put your name on the sign-up sheets in your church so that we have

an indication of the number of people attending.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE . .

Today’s Gospel is unique, in that Mark has two accounts of it, as has Matthew, with John and Luke each having one = 6 in total ! Plus it is the only miracle common to all four Gospels. Such repetition indicates an event that held deep significance and essentially important meanings for the early Christian Community. Variations in numbers, places, amounts, who did what etc, are best left to the scholars. The message is what is important. In the Ignatian tradition, let’s put ourselves in the scene. Here is an impossible situation. Normal solutions just don’t apply. We can sympathise with the disciples’ reactions, especially when Jesus throws the onus over to them. ‘It can’t be done’ ‘No way’ ‘Hopeless’. A Faith solution is what is needed. PARISH STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM 2016

Our Parish Stewardship Program officially commences this weekend and will run for four weeks.

Under the banner of Parishes – the heartbeat of the Church, the Program will provide a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what it means to be a member of Our Parish Community here at St Francis Xavier – St Clare Parish. Please participate in the Program, making time to read the materials, listen to our speakers and discuss the issues raised with your families and fellow parishioners.

At all Masses this weekend we will hear from parishioners who have kindly accepted to be part of the Program Leadership Team. They will invite your support and introduce a special message of welcome from the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Melbourne, Monsignor Greg Bennet.

As you are leaving the church today please collect your individually addressed envelope which contains the Program brochure and a covering letter from Fr Michael. Members of the Program Leadership Team will be on hand at all Masses to assist with any queries. They will assist you in obtaining a replacement if you cannot find your letter. Please note that for convenience letters for all parish school families will be sent home from the schools via their eldest child.

LETTER DELIVERY If anyone can help deliver left over letters, we would love to see you in the McKenna Centre, at 10am on Tuesday 31st May. The more volunteers, the less postage will be needed.

PARISH INFORMATION MEETING A reminder that all parishioners are warmly invited to one of the Parish Information Meetings on either Tuesday, 14th June or Thursday, 16th June. BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST (YEAR C)

1 Month Remembrance

Gospel: Luke 9: 11-17 Jesus made the crowds welcome and talked to them about the

kingdom of God; and he cured those who were in need of healing.

It was late afternoon when the Twelve came to him and said, ‘Send

the people away, and they can go to the villages and farms round

about to find lodging and food; for we are in a lonely place here.’

He replied, ‘Give them something to eat yourselves.’ But they said,

‘We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we are to go

ourselves and buy food for all these people.’ For there were about

five thousand men. But he said to his disciples, ‘Get them to sit

down in parties of about fifty.’ They did so and made them all sit

down. Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, raised his

eyes to heaven, and said the blessing over them; then he broke them and handed

them to his disciples to distribute among the crowd. They all ate as much as they

wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets.

1st Anniversary occurring at this time:
