She was born Aug. 22, 1921, at Clayton, the daughter of John and Zoe (Goodman) Gallentine. She grew up in the Clayton area and graduated from the former Clayton High School. She married Lee Arnold on Oct. 10, 1940, in Clayton, and they lived on a farm in Garfield Township. Her husband preceded her in death on March 23, 2008 and she continued to live on the farm until her death. She was member of the Clayton Evan- gelical United Brethren Church and also attended the Norcatur United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters and a sister. Survivors include a son, John and Brenda Arnold, Clayton; a daughter, Susan and Frank Bolek, Valparaiso, Ind.; a brother, Norman and Julie Gallentine, Oberlin; six grandchil- dren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight step- great-grandchildren. Services were Monday morning at the church in Norcatur, with burial in the Norcatur Cemetery. A memorial was established in her name. Contributions may be sent to the Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main, Norton, Kan., 67654. Lyle Dean Gamblin Lyle Dean Gamblin, 78, a long- time resident of Oberlin, died Sat- urday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Cedar Living Center. He was born Nov. 20, 1933, in Ludell, the son of Jess Oliver and Viola C. (Kreusch) Gamblin. He was reared in Ludell, where he at- tended school. At a young age, he began working for his father and other area farmers. He married Leona Carlson in 1957, and they had two children. His wife preceded him in death in 1959. He married Freda Carlson on Sept. 4, 1970, in Atwood. They lived and farmed in Rawlins County be- fore retiring and moving to Oberlin. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2006. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Norbert and Cletus Gamblin; a brother-in-law, Willard Mcfadden; and a sister-in- law, Betty L. Gamblin. Survivors include two children, Ronald Gamblin and Luella Gam- blin; a brother, James Gamblin, Oberlin; two sisters, Cordelia and Alvin Luedders, Omaha, Barbara Mcfadden, Montrose, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Alvina Gamblin, Oberlin. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Oberlin Cemetery with Pastor Charlotte Strecker-Baseler officiating. A memorial was established in his name. Raymond Gilstrap, 69, a former pastor of the Almena, Clay- ton and Norcatur United Methodist churches, died Nov. 14, 2011, at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, where he had lived the past 2 1/2 months. He was born Oct. 4, 1942, the son of Jack and Geraldine (Seeley) Gilstrap, in Wichita. After complet- ing high school, he attended Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia, where he received a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He married Jeanne Appleby on Aug. 19, 1962. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway and was an in- surance agent, movie projectionist and a wholesale food buyer before enrolling at Central Baptist Theo- logical Seminary, where he received a Master of Divinity degree. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene. Survivors include his wife, Be- loit; three children, Sherri and Scott Stannard, Mission; Jack and Nancy Gilstrap, Abilene; and Donald and Kathy Gilstrap, Maize; a brother, Mike and Susan Gilstrap, Omaha; a brother-in-law, Fred and Frankie Appleby; and three grandchildren. Services were Thursday. Nov. 17, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Beloit. The Rev. Glenn Fogo and the Rev. Dennis Finch officiated and burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Ames. Memorials are suggested to the Gideons International. Ray Evan Hague Ray Evan Hague, 58, a native of Oberlin, died Nov. 22, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. He was born March 9, 1953, in Oberlin, the son of Jack and Dorothy (Everist) Hague. His father was a 1945 graduate and a former football and track coach at Decatur Commu- nity High School, and his mother is a 1946 Oberlin graduate. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sharon. Survivors include a son, Nick Hague, and his mother, Dorothy Hague, both of Hutchinson. Cremation. Private family ser- vices will be held later. The Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements. Mail will reach his mother at the Ray E. Bessie Beth Peterson Bessie Beth Peterson, 81, a resi- dent of Decatur County Good Sa- maritan Center, died Nov. 15, 2011, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin. She was born Feb. 27, 1930, at the farm home of her grandparents in Cheyenne County, the daughter of Percy Edward and Amanda (Larson) Nusbaum. She attended elementary school in St. Francis. After the death of her father when she was 6, she lived with an aunt and uncle and cared for their children. She was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church, St. Francis. She started as manager of the Ben Franklin Store in Atwood in the 1950s. She married Clarence Albin Peterson on Jan. 7, 1956, in Tucumcari, N.M. They lived in Mesa, Ariz., until 1958, when they moved back to Atwood. They were later houseparents for students at- tending Beamgard Learning Center and the family, which included two daughters, Connie and Tonya, grew to include Doug and Steve Lawson and Lynn Saunders. She was clerk of the district court for Rawlins County from January 1969 until her retirement in June 1991. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, Terry Hill. Survivors include two daughters, Connie and Charles Peckham, Atwood, and Tonya Hill, Mount Dora, Fla.; four grandchildren; an honorary grandson; and three great- grandchildren. Services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Williams Funeral Home in Atwood with Pastor Keith Reuther officiating and burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood. A memorial was established in her name. Lora Kathryn ArnoldLora Kathryn Arnold, 90, a life-

long resident of the Clayton area, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at the Norton County Hospital.

She was born Aug. 22, 1921, at Clayton, the daughter of John and Zoe (Goodman) Gallentine. She grew up in the Clayton area and graduated from the former Clayton High School.

She was clerk of the district court for Rawlins County from January 1969 until her retirement in June 1991.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son-in-law, Terry Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie and Charles Peckham, Atwood, and Tonya Hill, Mount Dora, Fla.; four grandchildren; an honorary grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Williams Funeral Home in Atwood with Pastor Keith Reuther officiating and burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.

A memorial was established in her name. Contributions may be sent to the funeral home, 109 N. Second St., Atwood, Kan., 67730.
