TULSA, Oklahoma WestSide High Schoolers defeated by East Side Juvenile Delinquents. September 13, 1960, 7:00 pm, a rumble occurred. This Rumble was a fight between two different classes to determine whodominateswhoforayear.

Last nights fight took place in a lot near a neighborhood down East Side. Some people could hear JDs, or Greasers as some know, trotting down the sidewalk and getting hyped for the fight. Richard Thomasons, a homeowner in theEast, heardtheGreasersChanting.

They were chanting unruly last night and amusing each other. One kid kept on asking why they fight. Im just confused myself onthatpartaswell.

    The lot near the neighborhood

Bystanders who listen at a distance said they heard a group of delinquents gather together. I thought it was some unsolved business between these two groups, so I let them duke it out. Then another group passed by. I then thought that they would stop the commotion, so I went on with life. says 36 year old Jean Arthur. The Group that had later came was the Shepards Gang. Shortly after The groups were united, people like Richard and Karen Williams noticed the sound of an expensive car that had been the west side rich kids, alsoknownastheSocs.

We were driving down the street when

we see these hoodlums staring each other down and we knew it was gonna get worse. One of the Delinquents stepped up. For a while everyone just looked at each other. says Karen Williams. Then someone landed an uppercut , I sped up and got outta there as fast asIcould.statedRichardWilliams.

The fight later went down after the Socs jumped into their car and scurried off. Triumph went across the battlefield shortly after the Socs ran off. My child woke up shortly after someone floored it. Then there was screaming and people running from the lot. I looked across the street to see a bunch of hooligans Walking down the streets. said BarbaraRaymond.

We followed up with this greaser group. Darry Curtis said that last night was a night of triumph and emotion. That same night, Dally and Johnny had died...my youngest bro, Ponyboy is still out cold because of a concussion from that whole rumble...At least we won though! Curtis stated.Ponyboy Curtis, Darrys youngest brother, had been asleep for days from many blows to the head that night. We also asked Curtis the question everybody is asking themselves. Why fight?

My reason for fighting is to stand up against the Socs. Too many of us Greasers get jumped by them. Plus, gotta do Johnny...andDallyproud.Curtisreplied.

Johnny was severely injured with a 3rd degree burn on his back and nerve damage to his spinal cord. He was barely surviving 2 days after the tragedy. The last thing he said to me was to stay gold said Ponyboy Curtis, a friend of Johnnys and the last survivor of the Windrixville Church burning. He was adored by all of his fellow Greasers. His death occurredatapproximately8:30pmlastnight.

Dallas Winston escaped from the hospital last night when he later died. He had threatened the nurse to let him go. He pulled out a blade from under his pillow and told me that if I didnt let him go to some rumble, something would happen to me exclaimed Barbara Jefferson, a nurse at the Tulsa memorial Hospital. He had experienced Johnnys death before he died. Two Cops had shot Dallas or Dally to the ground when he started to give cops the impression of something bad. His friends watched the shoot down.
