affected human health? 1:what are major resource for drinking water?

2: what are major pollutant present in the water

sources?

3: which type of water borne diseases observed in that

area?

The objective of this research is to explore and understand what are health problem in Roha

and nearby villages (Gophan and Are-Khurd) due to water pollution.

Research methods and tools:

Mixed research method

Tools – semi-structured interview schedules,

observation and document analysis.

Summary Of Data: • Visited two village Gophan and Are-Khurd village.

• Industrial effluent discharge point near to this village into the Kundalika

river.

• People completely depend on well water.

• Well water is contaminated due to polluted river water.

• As per Central Ground Water Board in that area Unconfined Aquifer are

found in that area and along with Laterite Rock is found in that area so that

river water are directly mixed with Well water.

• People are facing water borne diseases in that mainly

1:Cholera(Inadequate water treatment).

2:Hepatitis A(Liver Diseases cause due to contaminated water).

3:Irritability, muscular stiffness, and loss of appetite(Due to zinc)

4:Kidney Problem(Due to Lead and Hardness).

5:Digestive and Immune systems, lungs and kidneys Problem.

• Roha municipal corporation 4392 pipe water connection in 7.27

Sq.Km/day.

• Gophan and Are-khurd does not have pipe water supply.

• Roha Industrial Association control the Centralize treatments plant and

every industry has separate connection of effluents transfer.

• People are facing water quality problem due to industrialization.

• Industry and Domestic waste are mainly responsible for deteriorated the

water quality.

Broader findings :

• Water Quality is contaminated in chemical and Biological

properties.

• People are facing Health problem due to Bad water quality.

• No pipe water supply in that area.

• Totally depend on the Well water which is contaminated.

• Due to unconfined aquifer surface water mixed with ground water

which is contaminated and hence they are depend on the ground

water so that people face the health issue.

• Municipal council are very weak for providing pipe water supply.

• Water is contaminated due to Industrial effluents and domestic

waste.

• Due to political interferences MPCB did not monitored properly.

• Industry are continuously discharge effluents into river.

• People are protest against the water quality but MPCB did not

work on it.
