SNITZEL   re5red   to   stud   in   Australia   in   2006   and  Japan   in   2007.     On   the   track,   he   won   the   G1  Oakleigh   Plate   (1100m)   amongst   his   seven   wins  (four   as   a   two-‐year-‐old).     He   is   now   is   one   of   the  brightest  young  stallions  in  the  country.

He  finished  second   in   the  Australian  2013/14  Sires  Premiership   despite   having   the   least   amount   of  runners  of  any  stallion  in  the  top  eight,  and  44  less  runners   than   his   premiership   winning   sire,  REDOUTE'S  CHOICE.

SNITZEL  sired  the  winners  of  more  stakes  races  (13  individual   stakes   winners   of   21   stakes   races)   than  any   other   sire   in   Australia   for   the   season.   With  another   racing   crop   on   the   ground,   SNITZEL   looks  set  to  be  a  big  chance  of  securing  the  2014/15  Sires  Premiership.

As   at   31   August   2014,   SNITZEL   has   sired   243  winners   (68.2%  winners/runners).  Of   those,  23  are  stakes  winners  including  Group  1  winners  SHAMUS  AWARD,  SNITZERLAND  and  SIZZLING.

His  progeny  perform  well  as  two-‐year-‐olds,  with  13  stakes   winners   in   that   age   group.   But   as  SNITZERLAND,   SIZZLING,   HOT   SNIZTEL   and   recent  G2   winner   SWEET   IDEA   have   shown,   his   progeny  progress  as   three-‐year-‐olds  and   look  set   to  display  longevity  as  his  racing  crop  ages.

The  sire:  SNITZEL

REDOUTE’S  CHOICE,  is  nothing  short  of  a  Champion  sire.    He  is  by  the  undisputed  legend  DANEHILL,  out  of   SHANTHA’S   CHOICE.   She   is   a   half-‐sister   to   the  Group   1   winners   HURRICANE   SKY   and   UMATILLA,  and   producer   of   Group   1   winners   PLATINUM  SCISSORS  and  MANHATTAN  RAIN.

REDOUTE’S   CHOICE   raced   up   to   his   pedigree,  winning  five  of  his  10  starts,   four  at  Group  1   level.    He   re5red   to   stud   in   2000   and   has   shumled   to  France  for  the  past  two  seasons  where  he  has  been  given  great  support.    He  has  been  Champion  Sire  in  Australia   in   2005-‐06,   2009-‐10   and   again   in  2013/2014,  siring  well  over  100  stakes  winners.

He   is  a  dominant  sire  of  sires  and  set  to  create  his  own   dynasty  much   like   his   sire   DANEHILL,   and   his  grand-‐sire  DANZIG.

Ten   sons   of   REDOUTE’S   CHOICE   have   already   len  stakes  winners.   They   include   STRATUM   (sire   of   19  stakes   winners   including   three   Group   1   winners),  NOT   A   SINGLE   DOUBT   (sire   of   15   stakes   winners  including  Group  1  winners)  and  SNITZEL  himself.

All  but  two  of  his  ten  Group  1-‐winning  colts  are,  or  have  been  at  stud.

The  grand-‐sire  :  REDOUTE’S  CHOICE

The  sire  and  sire-‐line

A  Group  1  winning  sprinter  hailing  from  the  DANZIG  /  DANEHILL  /  REDOUTE’S  CHOICE  sire-‐line,  SNIZTEL  is  now  of  the  brightest  young  stallions  in  Australia.

The  dam  and  dam-‐line

BRIGHT  HEROINE  was  twice  placed  in  two  year  old  stakes  races  in  the  spring  of  her  two  year  old  year.  These   included  running  second  (beaten   less  than  a  length)   behind   Champion   2yo   MERLENE   in   the  Listed  Nursery  Stakes.  MERLENE  went  on  to  win  her  next  four  starts  including  the  G1  Golden  Slipper  and  G1  AJC  Sires  Produce  Stakes.

BRIGHT   HEROINE   has   produced   eight   individual  winners   of   20   races.   These   include   OUR   JOAN   OF  ARC,  winner  of  the  Listed  Gimcrack  Stakes  (the  first  2yo   stakes   race   of   the   season)   at   Randwick.   She  then   won   the   G3  Maribyrnong   Plate   by   3   lengths  before  returning  in  the  Autumn  of  her  two-‐year-‐old  season   to   run   third   (beaten   1.6   lengths)   behind  WANTED  in  the  G3  Kindergarten  Stakes.

BRIGHT   HEROINE   has   also   produced   the  metropolitan  winning   and   stakes-‐placed  DOMINIC,  and   the  metropolitan   winner   GALACTIC   GUN  who  was  later  raced  in  Singapore  as  ABSOLUTE  POWER.

BRIGHT   HEROINE’S   dam   FLORESCENCE   (by   noted  2yo   sire   WITHOUT   FEAR)   also   ran   second   in   the  Listed  Nursery  Stakes.  As  well  as  BRIGHT  HEROINE,  FLORESCENCE  has  produced  the  stakes  placed  LOVE  AT  LARGE,  who  went  on   to  produce  Group  winner  INSPIRE  (G3  VRC  Carbine  Club  S.).

The   family   descending   from   this   filly’s   finh   dam,  BLOOMING,   includes   18   stakes   winners.   Four   are  G1  winners:  BURST   (STC  Golden  Slipper,  AJC   Sires’  Produce   Stakes,   AJC   Champagne   Stakes),  HISTORIAN  (ARC  Zabeel  Classic  and  WRC  Thornden  Mile),   BUSH   PADRE   (BTC   Doomben   Cup)   and  VICTORY  PRINCE  (AJC  Sires’  Produce  Stakes).

Of   this   filly’s   ac5ve   family,   recent   Flemington  winner  and  stakes-‐placed  FREE  OF  DOUBT  is  a  close  rela5on.   He   is   also   by   a   REDOUTE’S   CHOICE   sire,  NOT  A  SINGLE  DOUBT.

The  dam:  BRIGHT  HEROINE,  and  her  family

BLUEBIRD,   a   winner   of   the   G1   Royal   Ascot   King’s  Stand   Stakes,   is   the   sire   of   74   individual   stakes  winners  (35  in  Aust/NZ),  including  13  G1  winners.

In   Australia,   BLUEBIRD   was   one   of   the   pioneer  shumle   stallions   and   has   made   an   immeasurable  contribu5on  to  our  breeding  industry  both  as  a  sire  and  broodmare  sire.

His  best  known  Australian  progeny  include  FLITTER  (G1   BATC   10,000,   G1   STC   Winfield   Classic),   and  AZZURO   (G1   VATC   1,000   Guineas).   But   he   len  Group   winners   world-‐wide,   and   successful   sires  DOLPHIN  STREET  and  LAKE  CONISTON.

The  majority  of  his  progeny  were  at  their  best  over  sprint  distances,  and  as  younger  horses

As  a  broodmare  sire,  his  daughters  have  produced  in   excess   of   1500   individual   winners,   67   of   whom  are  stakes  winners  (44  in  Aust/NZ).

Key   performers   out   of   BLUEBIRD   mares   include  METAL   BENDER,   UNIVERSAL   PRINCE,   YELL,  UNIVERSAL   QUEEN,   MAYBE   DISCREET   and   THORN  PARK.

G1  Goldmine  4x4  Pedigree  Impact  RaYng

The   G1   Goldmine   Impact   Score   Analysis   measures   the   strength   of   a   cross   between   two  ancestors  by  comparing  how  many  black-‐type  winners   it  should  have  got  (based  on  a  complex  and  carefully  calibrated  formula)  to  how  many  black-‐type  winners  it  actually  did  get.

The   analysis   is   based   on  worldwide   black-‐type  winning   results,   is   purely   pedigree   based,   and  assumes  all  other  factors  are  equal.

16  individual  Impact  Score  (IS)  ra5ngs  are  produced  for  the  range  of  pedigree  cross-‐matches  for  each  horse.    Higher  ISs  should  be  sought  and  lower  ISs  avoided.

Each  score  is  then  color-‐coded  to  quickly  iden5fy  posi5ve  and  nega5ve  ra5ngs.

is  nega5ve  -‐  the  pedigree  cross  has  produced  below  expecta5ons

is  neutral  –  the  pedigree  has  produced  at  expecta5ons

is  posi5ve  -‐  the  pedigree  cross  has  produced  above  expecta5ons

the  pedigree  cross  has  produced  well  above  expecta5ons

there  is  not  enough  data  or  no  data  for  that  pedigree  cross

In  this  instance,  there  is  a  posi5ve  rela5onship  between  SNITZEL  and  his  sire  REDOUTE’S  CHOICE,    and  the  super  sire  STORM  BIRD.

SNIPPETS,   SNITZEL’s   dam-‐sire,   also   responds  well  with   STORM  BIRD,   resul5ng   in   seven   stakes  winners  including  TIME  FOR  WAR,  PLATINUM  KINGDOM,  BULLPIT  and  AMORINO.
