RELEASE DATE: March 19, 2014 SUBJECT: Terashima National Baseball Player of the Week SOURCE: Jason Rathbun, Head Baseball Coach, 866-0300, Ext. 2228 HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals sophomore Taishi Terashima (Hiranai, Japan) was named NJCAA DIII National Player of the Week on Thursday (3/19), helping the baseball team finish their spring trip in Florida 8-2. Terashima, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, amassed 11 hits in six games, going 11-18 at the plate which equates to a .611 average. That wasn’t it however as the centerfielder also collected 12 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, seven runs batted in, four walks and two stolen bases. Currently, Terashima is Top 10 in the nation in runs scored (7 th ), batting average (7 th ) and on base percentage (6 th ). “Taishi has worked hard on improving his strength and it has paid off to start his sophomore year,” said Head Baseball Coach Jason Rathbun. “We think he is going to have a big year for us, and all of the credit goes to his hard work.” -30- Photo: Attached is an action shot and head shot of Taishi Terashima.
