3M Repulpable Tapes Put It All Together.Strength. Simplicity. Selection. Service. Savings.

Strength and performance that holds up. So failed splices don’t hold you up.

The tapes themselves are close by too. With our extensiveauthorized distributor network, we can get what you need, when you need it.

Savings that you’ll realize during the job. And after the job is over.Of course, the reliability of our tapes helps assure web passagethrough your processing equipment. And that helps save youthe time and expense of dealing with splice failures.

The repulpability of our tapes means you can save again. Designed to disperse in water, 3M Repulpable Tapes can help reduce broke contamination.

Simplicity that cuts prep time up front. And downtime later.High performance tapes perform to their full potential when applied correctly. That’s why 3M comes up with innovations like repositionable buttsplicing tapes for simpler setup with fewer prep personnel. Strong liners on flying splice tapes enable precise tearing of paster patterns.

The shear strength of our repulpabletapes can stand up under high web tension. That means less potential incidence of splice slippage. Lesschance of exposed adhesive. And less risk of web breakage caused by “blocking.”

Our tapes match shear strength with excellent peel strength. Their adhesive power and heat resistance can help keep your webs moving smoothly. You can reduce splice failures and costlyre-splicing.

Selection that includes permanent and temporary tapes. With permanent satisfaction.

We offer more tape choices. Permanent, temporary and general purpose, doublecoated and single coated repulpable tapes.Tapes for finished mill splicing, flying

splicing, core starting and roll closing. Giving you the right tape for the job

helps assure your satisfaction.

We also offer dispensing systems and applicators. Plus a full line of relatedproducts, like sorbents and floor markingsafety tapes. The products you need with the confidence that you’re gettingquality. 3M quality and reliability.

900Repulpable Double Coated Splicing Tape

These are our most durable tapes. That’s because they have to do more than just survive the mill’s off-machine coaters, supercalenders, andwinders. The same splices stay withthe paper for additional processingthrough your customers’ printing, slitting, perforating and foldingequipment.

Our permanent tapes are more thanequal to the task. They provide ahigh level of shear strength. Theirfirm adhesive doesn’t ooze or bleed. And they offer reliable adhesioneven up to drying temperatures ashigh as 400°F (204°C).

A tissue coated on both sides with a lightgreen repulpable adhesive. Includes aneasy release kraft paper liner that is semi-bleached and fully repulpable. Ideal for static overlap splicing and hightemperature overlap splicing of papers, foils and plastic films.

• Tape thickness: 3.0 mils (0.08mm) without liner

• Heat resistance: Excellent to 400°F (204°C) web temperature

• Bonding strength: Excellent on uncoated paper grades

A lightweight tissue coated on both sideswith a blue, repulpable adhesive. Furnishedon a repulpable easy release paper liner. For overlap finished splices in paper mills.Combination of high initial adhesion andvery good heat resistance makes it ideal forthe difficult, “raw” surfaces of LWC andother new coating formulations.

• Tape thickness: 2.5 mils (0.06mm) without liner

• Heat resistance: Excellent to 400°F (204°C) web temperature

• Bonding strength: Delaminates most papers, including many LWC coating formulations

405Repulpable Double CoatedSplicing TapeA lightweight tissue coated on both sideswith a light green repulpable adhesive.Liner is a non-repulpable, translucent redplastic film (PVC). High shear strength of tape helps reduce splice slippage and resulting web breakage caused by “blocking.” Can be used for static overlapsplicing and high temperature overlap splicing of many papers, foils and plastic films.

• Tape thickness: 3.0 mils (0.08mm) without liner

• Heat resistance: Excellent to 400°F (204°C) web temperature

• Bonding strength: Excellent on uncoated paper grades

Technique tips1. Angle the splice across the web

(5° or more) to avoid concentrating the splice buildup at only one spot on the roll and to facilitate smooth running through subsequent machine operations.

2. Recess tape about 1/16" (1.6mm) to 1/8" (3.2mm) from the leading edge and trailingedge of paper to protect against splice adhering to adjacent paper laps.

3. Rub down splice with a P.A.-1 plastic squeegee or similar tool to ensure maximum adhesion.

9952Repulpable Double CoatedSplicing TapeA tissue coated on both sides with a clear, repulpable adhesive on an easy release paperliner that is fully repulpable. Available ineither blue (9952 tape) or white (9952Wtape). Provides high strength splices and stands up to most high temperature operations — including supercalenderingand printing — with no bleeding or oozingunder pressure. Application ideas includeoverlap finished mill splices, sheeter splices, core starting and roll closure. Ideal for carbonless papers because it will not desensitize or image the sheet.

• Tape thickness: 3.0 mils (0.08mm) without liner

• Heat resistance: Excellent to 400°F (204°C) web temperature

• Bonding strength: Delaminates most papers
