Nursery
The children in nursery have been settling in very well and learning about many different Nursery Rhymes. They have been painting some of their fa-vourite characters and counting the number of legs they need to add.
The children have also been building walls for Humpty Dumpty, looking for Incy Wincy spider in the garden and using play dough to count out Five Currant Buns. They are look-ing forward to learning even more Nursery Rhymes next week.
Year 6 Hegarty Maths Launch
Colin Hegarty visited our school on Monday 2nd October to launch his homework website to our Year 6 pupils. Mr Hegarty met Year 6 pupils who have now started to use Hegarty Maths for their maths homework. Our pupils enjoyed meeting Mr Hegarty and are excited about using the website to help them with their maths learning. After school he hosted a workshop for parents and guardians, which was well attended and enjoyed by all. It was a fantastic event and Mr Hegarty was impressed by the commitment of our pupils and their parents and guardians.

Year 5 Science
On Wednesday 11th October, some of our year 5 children were given the oppor-tunity to visit The Hall School. The children were selected as part of a science project. Our children took part in science experiments focused on observing chemical reactions. It was a great day and the children loved working in the la-boratories and using scientific equipment!
3 Hazel
This week 3 Hazel visit-ed the school garden to learn all about soil. We learnt that soil contains rotten leaves, tiny bits of stone and little bit of sticks. Then we collected things from the garden to make our own soil! We also looked at soil from different areas of the country.
The sticky, clay soil from London is very different to the sandy soil from Kent. We can't wait to have our next garden session with Mr Smith.

Stone Age Shelters
This week in
Design Tech-
nology Year
3 designed
and made
their very own
Stone Age
shelters. They had to think carefully about
how they would construct their shelter using
the kind of materials Stone Age people would
have had available to them. The children also
worked together to make fires for cooking,
spears for hunting and a frame for drying
meat and fish. Year 3 are really enjoying
learning all about the Stone Age this term!
