The NQI are the national institutions that provide the framework and services to advance the quality and safety of products and services offered in local and foreign markets.

Standards are documents that define the requirements for products and services.
COPANT, the Pan American Standards Commission, promotes the development of technical standardization and the related activities of its members.

Metrologymay be described as the measurement and scientific tools required to measure products and services in a reliable and objective manner.
SIM, the Inter American Metrology System, promotes cooperation in metrology and is committed to the implementation of a Global Measurement System within the Americas.

Accreditation is the formal recognition of the technical competence and impartiality of conformity assessment bodies that verify compliance with requirements.
IAAC, the Inter American Accreditation Cooperation, enables international recognition of its members and promotes the acceptance of reports and certificates issued by conformity assessment bodies accredited by its members.

Regional Organizations in the Americas

The Quality Infrastructure Council of the Americas was formally created on August 29, 2014 when the leaders of the three regional organizations signed an MOU in Guatemala.
