An objective complement will either be a noun that renames the direct object, or an adjective that describes the direct object.

If the verb is a LINKING VERB, there will not be a direct object, indirect object, or an

objective complement.

A subject complement follows a linking verb. It will be either a predicate

nominative or a predicate adjective.

It will still be boxed as a “complement” of the sentence and labeled with initials.

A predicate nominative predicate nominative is a noun or a pronoun that renames the subject. (The pronouns that can be predicate nominatives are “I, we, you, she, he, it, and they.”)

A predicate adjective predicate adjective is an adjective that describes the subject.

Hint: Remember that a predicate nominative can be made pluralbe made plural, but a predicate adjective cannot.
